GENERAL
 
As M McGillivray was indisposed, riding replacements were made as per the Race Day summary sheet.
 
 
Race 1: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 800 metres
 
AIRBORNE HOTDOG – Slow to begin.
 
COURAGEOUS GAL – Raced wide throughout.
 
DAWN DOWN UNDER – Slow to begin. Disappointed for a run to the inside of MISS CANTIK in the early stages of the home straight.
 
MISS CANTIK – Began awkwardly. Near the 700m became awkwardly placed at the heels of MISS BITTERSWEET which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. K Wilson-Taylor, rider of MISS BITTERSWEET, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Over-raced and raced keenly approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
SIDE SHOW SALLY – Slow to begin. Rider L Tarrant reported the horse was inclined to race greenly at various stages of the event.
 
 
Race 2: WWW.IEEC.COM.AU BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 2180 metres
 
TAUPO TIGER – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
HARBELLE – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MARIINSKY – Slow to begin.
 
LA BREA – Over-raced in the early stages and as a result near the 1600m shifted wider on the track to progress forward to lead the event passing the 1400m.
 
RED OSCAR – Slow to begin.
 
HEART OF A LION – When being restrained in the early stages got its head up and became unbalanced.
 
FEUDALIST – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
SEERESS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 150m improved onto the heels of CHIEF COMMAND and was obliged to shift out to improve which resulted in SEERESS then momentarily becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of HEART OF A LION as a consequence.
 
WAIKATO – Checked near the 400m. At a subsequent inquiry J Lloyd, rider of TAUPO TIGER, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 400m, when under riding, he permitted TAUPO TIGER to shift out when insufficiently clear of WAIKATO which became awkwardly placed on the heels of TAUPO TIGER and had to be checked. The license of J Lloyd to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 12th August up to and including midnight 22nd August 2023. Whist weakening, raced in restricted room near the 150m.
 
 
Race 3: SEVEN NEWS Fillies and Mares RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1200 metres
 
ANTHROPICA – Began awkwardly.
 
VONZITHER – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
SNEAKY THREE – Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.
 
BEST SONG – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the horse was adjusted. At the start restrained from the wide barrier to a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
CITROUILLE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
DESPEREAUX – Jumped out at the start and lost ground.
 
MILANO BOOM – Slow to begin. Rider J Orman reported the horse, after being slow to begin, settled further back in the field than anticipated, adding that he was of the opinion a step up in distance and the addition of blinkers would be beneficial to MILANO BOOM. Trainer J Bruce confirmed he would now step the horse up in distance and would also in all likelihood now add blinkers to MILANO’S BOOM approved gear.
 
FLICK – Put in an awkward stride approaching the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealedno abnormalities.
 
MYSTERIOUS LADY – At the start restrained from the wide barrier to a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
 
Race 4: THE SHED COMPANY Class 2 Handicap 1100 metres
 
As a result of CAPTAIN BOND being difficult to load, the start of this race was delayed approximately 2 minutes.
 
On return to scale a protest was lodged by apprentice E Lang, rider of second past the post SPANISH ANGELS, against first past the post RADIANT REMI (B Thompson) alleging interference over the final 100m. After taking evidence from the connections of both runners and viewing the patrol footage Stewards found that approaching the 50m point RADIANT REMI shifted in under pressure and bumped SPANISH ANGELS on two occasions. Bearing in mind the proximity of the incident to the winning post and the manner in which both runners finished the race off, Stewards dismissed the protest and correct weight declared on the judge’s placings. At a subsequent inquiry B Thompson, rider of RADIANT REMI, was reprimanded for careless riding under AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
CAPTAIN BOND – Proved difficult to load. Trainer P Robl was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the horse. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near hind leg. P Robl was advised CAPTAIN BOND would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race or trial start.   
 
BULLET FORCE – Crowded at the start. Near the 900m crowded for room and had to be steadied when ARTIE’S DESTINY laid in and away from KOBE LAD. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
KOBE LAD – Jumped in at the start crowding BULLET FORCE.
 
POETIC DRAMA – Approaching the 250m improved onto the heels of ARTIE’S DESTINY and obliged to shift out to improve.
 
SHE’S CONTRARY – After being slow to begin, was then checked and lost ground between SPANISH ANGELS and CAPTAIN BOND, both of which shifted ground on jumping.
 
SMILE UPON A STAR – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. When asked to comment apprentice J Williams advised he was disappointed with the finishing effort of the mare when place under pressure in the home straight. Stewards will follow up with trainer A Campton regarding how the horse has pulled up in the coming days.
 
SPANISH ANGELS – Jumped out abruptly at the start. Laid out under pressure near the 200m. Bumped on two occasion approaching the winning post when RADIANT REMI shifted under pressure.
 
RADIANT REMI – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ARTIE'S DESTINY – Laid in under pressure near the 250m.
 
 
Race 5: STROUD HOMES IPSWICH Class 2 Handicap 1690 metres
 
SUMMER IN SIAM – Approaching the winning post shifted in under pressure resulting in BAY STREET being taken in and crowding FRENCH STEP which contacted the running rail passing the winning post. J Guthmann-Chester, rider of SUMMER IN SIAM, was reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) in this incident.
 
BAY STREET – Slow to begin. Taken in approaching the winning post.
 
BEFOREHAND – Change of tactics, from the wide barrier to be ridden back in the field if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. After rider J Morris slipped from the horse when mounting up in the enclosure,  was cleared of any injury. Weakened from the 500m.  In light of the poor performance, trainer C Zintilis was advised a warning would be placed on the competitiveness of BEFOREHAND.
 
HARMONY REIGNS – Slow to begin.
 
FRENCH STEP – Slow to begin. Near the 500m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Laid out approaching the home turn. Crowded for room approaching the winning post.
 
CLEAR BLONDE – Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Rider E Lang reported after being caught wide in the early stages she was able to secure a midfield position however when placed under pressure from the home turn was one paced in its finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  
 
 
 
Race 6: BOQ WINSTON GLADES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap1690 metres
 
BOULT – Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping.
 
I'MTIMMYZOU – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
IRISH THUNDER – Began awkwardly. Pulled up quickly passing the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off-foreleg Trainer M Eggleston was advised the horse would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race or trial start.
 
SPURIOUS – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAGIC MIKEY – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
FORTIVACI – Jumped in at the start.
 
MT MORT SHARK – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance rider S Collett was of the view the horse would derive significant fitness benefit from today’s run.
 
ULTIMATE POWER – Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping.Approaching the 800m obliged to steady from heels.
 
HOT BANANAS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
POWERWOLF – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
 
 
Race 7: ROSE JENSEN KENT LAWYERS Class 4 Handicap 1350 metres
 
NAMAKWA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
VITESSE FRANCAIS – Leaving the 150m improved onto the heels of MENSA MAESTRIO and was obliged to shift in.
 
UNCLE RUSS – Slow to begin.
 
AGNELLI – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
ABRACADAZZLE – Slow to begin. Approaching the 1000m was tightened for room and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of SAYS WHO which laid in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
MAJESTICS REQUEST – Slow to begin.
 
TWYFORD – Began awkwardly.
 
MENSA MAESTRO – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn. Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SAYS WHO – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
MUWARRAD – Slow to begin.
 
DEDORS LAD – After rider ADonald slipped from the horse when mounting up in the enclosure, and was cleared of any injury. Rounding the home turn, when racing tightly between CONFESSED and NAMAKWA, became unbalanced and to be momentarily eased by its rider.
 
 
Race 8: TAB Colts, Geldings and Entires RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1200 metres
 
BOOMI'S BUDDY – Raced keenly in the early stages after being crossed by SHATTER PROOF. Shifted out under pressure leaving the 100m. J Molloy, rider of BOOMI’S BUDDY, was advised to stop riding and straighten in similar circumstances.
 
ALL STARS – Crowded on jumping. When asked to comment rider B Thompson reported the horse failed to let down as expected in the home straight and was somewhat disappointed. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
AVOCA – Raced wide for the majority of the event. When weakening approaching the 200m, laid in and became awkwardly placed at heels.
 
HEAT – After being slow to begin was checked shortly after when ALL STARS was taken in after being crowded at the start by ELLOWS HALL.
 
ELLOWS HALL – Jumped in at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
LUXOR PRINCE – Over-raced in the early stages. Leaving the 100m obliged to steady when tightened for room between BOOMI’S BUDDY, which shifted out under pressure, and ALL STARS which shifted in after being brushed on the hind quarters by LUXOR PRINCE. J Molloy, rider of BOOMI’S BUDDY, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
SHATTER PROOF – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight and near the 100m, when continuing to shift out under riding resulting in BOOMI’S BUDDY being taken out and obliging LUXOR PRINCE having to be steadied. Apprentice A Donald, rider of SHATTER PROOF, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
ZEELUCK – Bumped at the start.
 
EPAUVESCENT – Jumped in at the start and bumped ZEELUCK. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
HUSSONHOFF - Shifted in leaving the 100m after being bumped on the hind quarters by LUXOR PRINCE.
