BobeszkoStarter – D. Jones GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting- Race 1 – INQUEST – M. Cahill +0.5kg (55kg)Race 5 – SHOW ME YOUR LOVE – A. Mallyon +1kg (55.5kg) Race 1: @IPSWICHTURFCLUB BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 800 metres COMMANDEERING – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight. THAWRA – Raced wide throughout. SHALAA'S MOMENT – Shortly after the start, steadied from heels and lost ground. INQUEST – Began awkwardly, before racing greenly and settling at the tail of the field. Race 2: TAB Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap 1350 metres KELLISA – Shifted out at the start and bumped IS SWEET. Held up in the early part of the home straight. Laid out over the final 80m, obliging its rider to stop and correct his mount. FURTHERING – Stewards permitted FURTHERING to race in earmuffs as it did at its recent start at Beaudesert 17/06/2023. Slow to begin. Steadied approaching the home turn from the heels PERFECT LINEAGE. PERFECT LINEAGE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced in the early and middle stages. DUCHESS BREE – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300m and the 150m. IS SWEET – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. VAN D’ORO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying clinical signs of heat stress. Following the running of race 2 the track was upgraded to a good 3. Race 3: ASSURE GLOBAL PLUS PROFIT BUILDERS Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Ha 1350 metres UTAH JOHNNY – Hampered at the start. I AM GOOD AT THIS – Held up approaching the home turn. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey J. Orman stated that the gelding travelled in a good position however was slightly disappointed in its performance, and in his opinion would benefit from the addition of blinkers. Trainer M. Dunn confirmed that he may consider the addition of blinkers. MISSION TO WIN – Shifted out abruptly leaving the 100m. WHITTLESFORD – Bumped at the start. CHRISTMAS TIME – Shifted out at the start and hampered UTAH JOHNNY. BENEDICT ARNOLD – Shifted in at the start and bumped WHITTLESFORD. Laid in throughout and commenced to weaken approaching the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J. Dunn was advised that the gelding would be required to trial prior to next racing. TOOLATEMATE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 100m, steadied when taken wider by MISSION TO WIN which laid out. KANAIRD – Began awkwardly. DARLHISMA – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CAPTURED IN TIME – Began awkwardly and lost ground. DOUBLE QUICK – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Race 4:ALL STATES WIDE LOAD ESCORT BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1700 metres SURIN BEACH – Laid in over the concluding stages. HURI BLACK – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages. ANGELS SHARE – Slow to begin. Held up approaching the home turn. On return to scale, jockey J. Orman was of the opinion that the mare may have choaked down in the event and proved very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have an abnormal upper respiratory noise. Trainer M. Currie was advised that the mare would require a veterinary certificate inclusive with results of an endoscopic examination prior to next racing. CHAYSE 'N' STORMS – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey S. Cormack could offer no explanation for today’s disappointing performance. Race 5:CSI CLUB SERVICES IPSWICH Class 4 Handicap 1700 metres SHOW ME YOUR LOVE – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey A. Mallyon stated that the mare was disappointing and in his opinion may have not appreciated today’s track conditions. Jockey A. Mallyon was also reminded of his obligations to continue to pressure his mount to the finish line. WHERE YA BEAN – Momentarily taken wider leaving the 1300m. On return to scale, jockey M. Du Plessis reported that his mount was inclined to lay out throughout. ROMAN HEIR – Over raced in the early stages. MUWARRAD – Slow to begin. Trailed the field throughout. When asked to comment, apprentice C. Graham reported that the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit which had a detrimental effect on its performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an abnormal upper respiratory noise. Trainer P. Duff was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary certificate inclusive with results of an endoscopic examination prior to next racing. Race 6:LIQUOR INDUSTRY ACTION GROUP IPSWICH CORRIDOR Fillies and Mares Class 1200 metres Correct weight was delayed to allow for Stewards to adjust the deductions for the late scratching of FAVOURITE THINGS. FAVOURITE THINGS – After becoming fractious in the barriers prior to the start, FAVIOURITE THINGS was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards acting on Veterinary advice at 3:44pm when the mare was found to be stepping short. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on FAVOURITE THINGS be refunded with the following deductions to apply – 1st place – 2c the win, 2c the place2nd place – 2c the place3rd place – 2c the place Trainer K Kemp was advised that the mare would require a veterinary certificate and to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to next racing. STREET SMARTS – After becoming fractious in the barriers prior to the start, STREET SMARTS was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards acting on Veterinary advice at 3:45pm after it was found to have a laceration to its near hindleg. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on STREET SMARTS be refunded with the following deductions to apply – 1st place – 14c the win, 13c the place2nd place – 11c the place3rd place – 20c the place Trainer M. Dunn was advised that the mare would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing. AWARD ME – Checked from heels rounding the home turn when attempting a narrow run to the inside of READY TO TORQUE which after hanging out, then rolled back in nearer the rail. BOCHKAREVA – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. READY TO TORQUE – Laid out rounding the home turn. Trainer B. Healy was advised that the mare would have a warning placed on its racing manners. FEARLESS THINKING – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH – Over raced in the early and middle stages. MISS HELMUT – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 1000m, improved onto the heels of AWARD ME and had to be steadied. SPARKY GIRL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Following the running of race 6, STREET SMARTS became loose from the clerk of the course, which resulted in multiple lacerations to the mare when it jumped a fence and escaped into the carpark. STREET SMARTS was treated by the veterinarian before being transported for further veterinary care. Subsequently race 7 was rescheduled to run at 5:02pm. Race 7:SEVEN NEWS Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Handicap 1200 metresMIDNIGHT DRIFTER – After refusing to load into the barriers, was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 5:03pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on MIDNIGHT DRIFTER be refunded with the following deductions to apply – 1st place – 3c the win, 3c the place2nd place – 4c the place3rd place – 4c the place Co-trainer R. Beaton was advised that the gelding would require a barrier certificate prior to next racing. BOOM TORQUE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MOUNT FUJI – Over raced in the middle stages. SPILL THE SECRET – Jockey J. Stanley reported at scale that his mount was inclined to lay in throughout. JACKSON ON TIME – Laid out rounding the home turn. BEAU WITNESS – Shifted in near the 250m. SISYPHEAN – Near the 250m when tiring, shifted in and away from BEAU WITNESS which improved quickly to its outside. CLAUDIUS – Very slow to begin. Trainer P. Duff was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. Over raced in the middle stages. DISTANT SECRET – Near the 250m, momentarily steadied when SISYPHEAN shifted in and away from BEAU WITNESS. Race 8: KINGSLEY LAWSON LAWYERS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1350 metres Due to an earlier delay, this race was rescheduled to run at 5:23pm. ANARCHY – Jockey J. Stanley reported at scale that his mount was inclined lay out under pressure in the home straight. GALAXY GENERAL – Began awkwardly. Near the 1000m, momentarily steadied when YALLA rolled in. ASCOT EXPRESS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. THE RAMPANT – Bumped at the start. UNZAGA – Restrained at the start from the wide barrier. YALLA – Rounding the home turn, bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced when ROCKIN’ ARTIE improved onto the heels of DEVIL ENUFF and shifted out. ROCKIN' ARTIE – Rounding the home turn. Improved onto the heels of DEVIL ENUFF, shifted out and bumped YALLA. Near the 250m, improved onto the heels of the tiring THE RAMPANT and was obliged to check before shifting back nearer the inside in an attempt to secure clear running. DEVIL ENUFF – Shifted in at the start and bumped THE RAMPANT.
