SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Race 7 – TAB Benchmark 26 Handicap (800m) Dalby, 6 June 2023 – Toowoomba Office
Stewards continued the inquiry into the adjourned incident that occurred at the 500m, which saw Apprentice L. Barr dislodged from her mount MIRALIE, which suffered a catastrophic injury and was subsequently euthanised. After taking initial evidence from Riders N. Masuda, J. Huxtable, A. Allen, A. Thompson, and Apprentices E. Lang and C. Sutherland, the inquiry was adjourned to allow Apprentice L. Barr to be present. After viewing the available patrol footage, and taking further statements, Stewards were of the opinion that, whilst there had been a marginal gradual inwards shift from Apprentice Sutherland’s mount OTELO, Apprentice Barr’s mount had simultaneously shifted out, becoming very awkwardly placed on heels and blundering severely. As Stewards couldn’t deem the interference to be solely attributable to any individual rider/s, Stewards took no further action other than to remind all riders to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
