GENERAL
As jockey J. Huxtable was ill, rider replacements were made as per the Raceday Meeting Summary.
 
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 1. M. Harley +1kg
Race 2. J. Orman +1kg
 
 
Race 1: TIACS RACES 3 NOVEMBER BUY TICKETS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
GALWAY HUSSLER – Began slowly and bumped shortly after the start.
 
OBEROI PRINCESS - After leaving the gates, dipped. Jockey S. Collett reported the filly is better suited ridden with cover, however; was unable to do so today, and consequently raced keenly, obliging her to go forward and lead the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a slow recovery and the thumps.
 
WEIGALL TIGER - Shifted in on jumping and bumped WINSOME STAR. Raced keenly for a short distance approaching the 800m.
 
WINSOME STAR – Bumped on leaving the gates. Held up for clear running from the 350m until the 300m.
 
 
Race 2: TAB MAIDEN PLATE 1690 Metres
 
 
A DIME APPROACH – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
GOLD SAMURAI – Jockey M. Savva was reprimanded under AR132(6)(c) of using her whip whilst out of contention.
 
MAGNATIC – Apprentice C. Graham reported it was not her intention to lead, however; with blinkers on today, the gelding raced keenly and as a consequence, went forward.
 
SPACE JOURNEY – Began awkwardly.  
 
UNITED FRONT – Harley – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider M. Harley reported the gelding laid in from the 800m.
 
EXTREME STATE – Bayliss – Shortly after the start, shifted out and bumped VICTORY ROLL. As a consequence, the saddle on EXTREME STATE shifted back, which placed rider J. Bayliss as a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
 
SHY GUY – Orman – Change of tactics – more forward with cover. Settled behind the lead with cover. Near the 900m, momentarily shifted out after being steadied from the heels of DUMA.
 
VICTORY ROLL (NZ) – Thompson – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide without cover from the 700m.
 
Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good (3).
 
Race 3: BASE METAL FABRICATION CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
A LOT OF BOOTY – Passing the 350m, became momentarily unbalanced when racing tight with JUMP’N FLY.
 
HEADLOCK – Raced wide with cover. Passing the 100m, laid in towards the heels of JUMP’N FLY. Approaching the winning post, steadied when racing tight between JUMP’N FLY and DEALING’S DONE.
 
JUMP'N FLY – Raced wide without cover throughout. Approaching the 50m, laid in and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of A LOT OF BOOTY.  
 
WISH I HAD - Began awkwardly. After beginning well from the wide barrier, took up a forward position.
 
BLUE SMARTIE (NZ) – Declared a late scratching at 2.30pm when the mare refused to load, delaying the start. Stewards ordered that all bets on BLUE SMARTIE be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st WISH I HAD 0c win, 1c place
2nd A LOT OF BOOTY 1c place
3rd JOVITA 1c place
 
Trainer K. Afford was advised that BLUE SMARTIE must compete to the satisfaction of Stewards in two consecutive barrier trials before being permitted to race again.
 
 
Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN PLATE 1200 Metres
 
FOREBEARS – Raced keenly during the middle stages and on occasions got its head up. Rider M Cahill reported the gelding laid out from the 800m and proved difficult to ride.
 
FREAKSHAKE – Hung out from the 600m and on straightening, shifted considerable ground, tightening the running of SILVANNA’S SONG and ARDERN, with SILVANNA’S SONG being checked. Continued to lay out and was not ridden out for the remainder of the event. Stable representative G. Bricknell was advised that FREAKSHAKE must compete to the satisfaction of Stewards in a barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again.
 
PRINCE OF PLENTY – Slow to begin. For a short distance passing the 800m, raced tight to the inside of SILVANNA’S SONG (L. Tilley). L. Tilley was advised to exercise more care.
 
PUSH TURBO – Raced wide without cover.
 
ARDERN – Tightened on straightening. Raced in restricted room approaching the winning post.
 
PRIDE AN' JOY – Slow to begin.
 
SILVANNA'S SONG – Tightened, then checked on straightening.
 
STRONG MARTINI - Raced in restricted room approaching the winning post.
 
COOL MUSIC – Raced wide with cover.
 
FENTON – Raced wide without cover.
 
Race 5: THISISACONVERSATIONSTARTER BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 2180 Metres
 
LEATHER JACKET LEW – Laid out from the 500m.
 
NO MORE RED – Jockey B. Thompson advised his mount laid out under pressure rounding the home turn and in the home straight.
 
COPPLESON (NZ) – Passing the 1600m, shifted out when racing close to the heels of UNZAGA.
 
UNZAGA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
SKYLON (NZ) – Change of tactics – attempt to lead on the gelding. After leading early, settled behind the eventual leaders.  
 
 
Race 6: STROUD HOMES IPSWICH BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP    800 Metres
 
CAMPAI – Began awkwardly. Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
MOONAN JOYCE – Jumped with its head up.
 
STEEL MY THUNDER – Began awkwardly and bumped DEECE SCENT KISS.
 
DEECE SCENT KISS – Bumped on jumping. Rider A. Jones was struck in the face by the off fore plate of CAMPAI approaching the 400m. Subsequently, the mare was eased down from the 250m. After dismounting, rider A Jones was examined by the Ambulance officials and transported to hospital for treatment.
 
 
 
Race 7: THE LAWN SHED BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1350 Metres
 
MOTOMISS – Slow to begin.
 
COUNT THE COIN – Raced wide until approaching the 800m.
 
HE KNOWS – Contacted the outside barrier partition on jumping, then bumped with ROSOVO shortly after. Held up for a short distance passing the 350m.
 
CRANKY HARRY – Began awkwardly and bumped TOO HARD TO REFUSE.
 
TOO HARD TO REFUSE – Bumped on jumping.
 
ROSOVO – Bumped on jumping.
 
LESMURDIE – As rider A. Jones was injured in race 6, she was replaced by rider M. Du Plessis. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.
 
 
Race 8: SIRROMET BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP         1200 Metres
 
MORETON BAY – Apprentice R. Simpson was reminded of his obligations in raising his whip arm about shoulder height.
 
SILVER WARRIOR (SAF) – Began awkwardly. Near the 150m, checked from heels of WINTER RAIN, which shifted out to obtain clear running. Rider J. Lloyd pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift out when not clear of SILVER WARRIOR, which was tightened onto ROSE BY DESIGN and steadied. Rider J Lloyd’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of eleven days commencing midnight the 15th of October 2023 and ending at midnight 26th of October 2023. Rider J. Lloyd will also be reminded of his obligations to ride all his mounts to the end of the race, where possible.
 
BEFANA – Raced fiercely in the early stages, and near the 1000m steadied when awkwardly placed tight to the inside of ROSE BY DESIGN.
 
ROSE BY DESIGN - Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
ADMONISH – Change of tactics – attempt to settle midfield with cover. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running in the home straight.
 
SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH – As jockey M. Harley was dehydrated, he was replaced by jockey D. Thornton. Stood flatfooted and lost ground.
