STEWARDS REPORT IPSWICH TURF CLUB WEDNESDAY 29 NOVEMBER 2023 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Heavy 10/Race 2 Heavy 9 RAIL – 8 MetresPENETROMETER – 6.3 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – B WrightStewards – J Williamson, R Hanson, F Hartford, A BrookClerk of Scales – J MitchellJudge – J BrownVeterinarian – G Silvestri, C Baden-BettsSample Attendants – K Kilpatrick, L BobzkoStarter – C Wallace SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT GENERAL Race 1: BARRIER REEF POOLS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M CYPHER PRINCE – Slow to begin. SHADOW CRUISER – Had difficulty obtaining clear running when rounding the home turn. BREMERHAVEN – Rider B Thompson reported the filly did not handle the heavy track conditions. Post race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. TOUCHE – Rider M Du Plessis reported his mount raced greenly throughout. VIENNAWAITSFORYOU – Over-raced during the early stages when the pace slackened. Race 2: RAY WHITE IPSWICH FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M Following the running of Race 1 the track was upgraded to Heavy 9.OLD SCHOOL – Slow to begin. SIENNA'S AWARD – Hung out and steadied from heels approaching the 800m and again near the 600m. Race 3: SIRROMET MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M DRIALLE – Bumped heavily by HERMANITA on jumping. Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn, before shifting out near the 300m when not clear to do so, making contact with HERMANITA, forcing that horse wider. M Harley, the rider of DRIALLE was severely reprimanded under AR131(a). EVER SO CLEVER – Raced wide without cover. Post race vet examination revealed the horse to have a poor post-race recovery. Rider B Thompson reported he had to make use of the mare early to cross and lead, and also felt Ever So Clever may not have handled the track conditions. HERMANITA – Began awkwardly and shifted out making heavy contact with DRIALLE. Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn before being bumped and forced wider when DRIALLE shifted out to secure clear running near the 300m. Race 4: ROSE JENSEN KENT LAWYERS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M Following the running of Race 3 the track was upgraded to Heavy 8. The start of this race was delayed when FLY WITH YOU had to have the near fore plate refitted at the barriers. FLY WITH YOU – Near fore plate refitted at barriers. Over-raced during the middle stages. HOLY TROJAN – Raced wide without cover. ROMEUS – Slow to begin. Hung out when rounding the home turn. Lost the near hind plate in running. ALABAMA GOLD – Rider A Spinks reported his mount failed to handle the heavy track conditions. ROCK LOBSTER – Rider D Smith reported his mount failed to handle the heavy track conditions. SHOT OUT – Began awkwardly. MISTY GOLD – Raced wide throughout. Eased down from the 300m. Rider L Tarrant reported his mount failed to handle the heavy track conditions. Post race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 5: SAMMUT BULOW COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M PACIFIC PADRINO – Began awkwardly and lost ground. BY THE LAW – Apprentice A Jones was spoken to advisedly regarding her use of the whip on the gelding when out of contention. Race 6: TAB BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1700 M DICKENSIAN – Significantly heat stressed post-race and received veterinary treatment on course. Trainer G Thornton will be advised that a Vet certificate required prior to racing again. RAGING POLE – Slow to begin. Steadied near the 800m to avoid heels of UNCOMMON VALOUR. VOLDEMORT – Over-raced during the middle stages after obtaining the lead. WHY WE DRINK – Improved onto the heels of DIANA’S AFFAIR near the 400m and galloped on that gelding’s heels, before blundering badly and becoming very unbalanced. This incident caused rider M Harley to become unbalanced and lose the use of both irons until leaving the 200m. UNCOMMON VALOUR – Raced wide until near the 800m. DIANA'S AFFAIR – Galloped on from behind near the 400m, became awkward and lost ground. Trainer K Schweida reported the gelding suffered minor lacerations to the near hind fetlock and the bulb of the near hind heel. Race 7:GREAT NORTHERN CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1100 M HARDWARE LANE – Obliged to race in restricted room near the 850m. HIDDEN EYES – Raced wide throughout.LIME SODA – Began awkwardly. Obliged to race in restricted room near the 850m. Rider J Orman reported his mount made an abnormal respiratory noise during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a significant upper respiratory tract noise. EN POINTE – Slow to muster early speed. WHISTLING SPIRIT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 8:WWW.IEEC.COM.AU CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1350 M The start of this event was delayed by 30 minutes due to storm activity in the area. SUPER DUCK – Raced wide throughout. Shifted in near the 1000m steadied from the heels of VICTORIA ROC. MARTEDI – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the 500m until leaving the 200m. VICTORIA ROC (NZ) – Held up for clear running from the 400m until leaving the 200m. EASY COMPANY – Bumped with SPILLIFY on jumping. SPILLIFY – Bumped with EASY COMPANY on jumping. LITTLE SHOW – Bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced after leaving the 200m. PARUES – Raced wide when rounding the home turn.
