Race 1: CONGRATULATIONS ANNA AND MICHAEL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP    1200M

SON OF BEEBEE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of moderate heat stress.

THREE GONGS – Began awkwardly and slow to muster speed. After the race, THREE GONGS was noted to have lost its near fore plate.

LAYDOWNLILY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be exhibiting signs of moderate heat stress.

SPEEDY GRACE – Began awkwardly, shifted in, and bumped with BLOODHAWKE. Approaching the home turn, hung out before being corrected.

Race 2: WELCOME IMPERIAL RACING FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN HANDICAP        1100M

TALAKAI – Laid out for a short distance near the 500m and raced greenly in the straight.

YOU KAY SQUEEZE – Shortly after the start, the saddle on the filly shifted back placing Jockey K. Matheson at a disadvantage throughout the race.

TITIVATE (NZ) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be exhibiting signs of mild heat stress.

KELANOA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to a small abrasion to the nearside hip. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be exhibiting signs of moderate heat stress and was treated on-course.

IT'SALLSAIDANDONE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. For some distance near the 900m, raced keenly and was awkward on the inside of YOU KAY SQUEEZE.

BEATLEMANIA – Approaching the 200m, steadied when disappointed for a run between IT'SALLSAIDANDONE and TITIVATE (NZ), before securing the run a short distance later when TITIVATE (NZ) shifted out.

Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN HANDICAP    1350M

ROLLING ROCK – Raced wide in the early stages.

DEE STORMED – Jockey J. Orman could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding.

YOU'LL NEVER GUESS – Laid out in the straight.

PRADO – Slow to begin.

LA BELLA DIVA – Raced wide throughout.

BLUEPRINT – Slow to begin.

TO THE WORLD – Raced wide throughout. When weakening passing the 400m, steadied when tightened between LA BELLA DIVA, which shifted in slightly and PRADO when coming to the outside of ROLLING ROCK, was taken out slightly when ROLLING ROCK shifted out to improve. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Apprentice E. Lang was spoken to advisedly regarding the use of her whip on the gelding when clearly out of contention.

DUSTYIAM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 400m, was carried wider when LA BELLA DIVA shifted out to improve.

Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Soft 6 at 3:31pm.

SEA TREASURES (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.

AUTUMN SHOW – Over raced for a short distance passing the 1400m. Jockey R. Wiggins elected to leave a rearward trailing position approaching the 1000m and improved around the field before reaching the lead near the 800m.

FIT AND PROPER – Began awkwardly. Jockey A. Thompson reported the gelding travelled well until midrace where it was placed under pressure and commenced to weaken from the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Stable representative A. Sawden was advised the gelding would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming.

NGOZI (NZ) – Raced wide over the final 1000m.

PERSIAN FRONT – In the early stages raced wide outside the lead until the 1400m.

Race 5: SEVEN NEWS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 1 HANDICAP   1100M

Stewards considered an application from Jockey A. Mallyon for HACHIMAN to be declared a non-starter as he believed the gelding was not afforded a fair start. After taking evidence from A Mallyon, Starter S. Tou and viewing the available footage, Stewards were of the view as the start was effected, HACHIMAN reared, making contact with the overhead bar, left the gates several lengths behind the field and then took no competitive part in the race. Stewards were satisfied that HACHMAN was not denied a fair start and declared correct weight on the judge’s placings. Jockey A. Mallyon later stated he desisted from pressuring the gelding in the event due to it making heavy contact with the overhead bar after rearing.

DEALING'S DONE – Stood flat footed and lost considerable ground as the start was effected. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight before shifting out across the heels of SPEEDY MACHO near the 150m to gain an uninterrupted run to the end of the race. Co-Trainer J. Symons was advised a warning would be placed on the horse.

HACHIMAN - Reared as the start was effected, then stood flat footed missing the start by a considerable distance and effectively taking no competitive in the event. The stable was  advised  a warning would be placed on the gelding for its barrier manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion above the gelding’s right eye and a small laceration on its left gum.

GOLD REVOLUTION – Shortly after the start checked when tightened between FULL CRY, which was shifting in and WHISTLIN’ RULER, which after being taken out by HE’S ESSENTIAL, then shifted out away from that gelding.

SPEEDY MACHO – Slow to begin.

WHISTLIN' RULER – Raced keenly in the early stages.

Race 6: TAB FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP         1100M

SOOBLOND – Jockey J. Orman reported it was not his intention to lead, however; when MA'S EPIC failed to show the expected speed and to avoid being caught wide from his gate, he elected to press on and take the lead. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

LIQUEUR GOLD – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Bumped near the 900m.

ROAR HIDE – Approaching the 900m bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced, when LIQUEUR GOLD shifted out marginally.

SONG SUNG BLUE – Slow to begin then bumped. Over raced in the early stages before shifting out and racing wide for the remainer.
