STEWARDS REPORT

IPSWICH TURF CLUB

SATURDAY 11TH MAY 2024

WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Soft 5 RAIL – +2m Entire
PENETROMETER – 5.5

OFFICIALS

Stewards – B. Wright (Chair), K. Daly, K. Lemay-Robbins, D. McMahon, L. Dewitt-Rowson (Cadet)

SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Beaudesert – Saturday 4th of May 2024
Race 5 - TAB WE'RE ON BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400M
Stewards inquired into the reason rider M. Hellyer was dislodged from IVANOFF near the 400m. Evidence was taken from rider M. Hellyer and R. Jamieson (SIENNA’S AWARD.) It was established when the pace slackened at this point in the race, SIENNA’S AWARD steadied, with its hindquarters turning out slightly, when IVANOFF was racing to the outside of that mare and somewhat behind PASSIONATE REBEL. Whilst the available footage of the incident was not conclusive, Stewards believed that IVANOFF may have clipped the heels of SIENNA’S AWARD, dislodging rider M. Hellyer. Consequently, IVANOFF sustained a catastrophic injury to its off shoulder. As the Stewards felt no one rider was responsible for the incident the matter was deemed to be a racing incident.

GENERAL

Stewards permitted the following overweights at today’s meeting:

Race 4: D. Smith +1kg (55kg)
Race 8: R. Jamieson +1kg (55kg)

Apprentice C. Waddell was examined by QAS staff on arrival on course.

Race 2: GAGNANTE ENCHERE - Stewards accepted the reason for the late rider declaration.

Race 2: ARATIRI - As Apprentice J. Williams was unable to claim any of his allowance and no other suitable rider was available, Stewards permitted Jockey R. Jamieson to be substituted. Apprentice J. Williams was fined $200 under the provisions of AR143(14)(a).
