QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT IPSWICH TURF CLUB Wednesday 22nd May 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – 6mPENETROMETER – 5.29 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P ZimmermannStewards – B Wright, K Daly, S HeidkeClerk of Scales – S Borg SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT Doomben 18/5/24 Race 1 – Trainer T Gollan reported that RISING PACIFIC had pulled up well and in his opinion the gelding did not appreciate the track conditions. Race 3 – Trainer M Freedman reported a subsequent veterinary examination of PANIC revealed no abnormalities and believed the gelding may not have appreciated the track conditions, and it was his likely intention that PANIC would now be sent for a spell. Race 4 – Trainer M Kent reported that in his opinion DENY KNOWLEDGE did not appreciate the track conditions and it was his intention to continue with its preparation. Race 6 – Trainer A Neasham reported that she is satisfied with the way BOSUSTOW had pulled up and in her opinion the colt may not have appreciated the track conditions. Race 6 – Trainer G Begg reported that in his opinion RICH DOTTIE did not appreciate the track conditions and it was his likely intention that the filly will now be sent for a spell. Race 7 – Trainer N McCall reported that she was satisfied with the way TIGER SHARK had pulled up. Gold Coast 18/5/24Race 1: BUTWEDEID – Trainer G Thornton advised the gelding pulled with general soreness and will now be sent for a spell. Sunshine Coast 19/5/24Race 5 – PUNGO – Trainer A Campton reported to stewards that subsequent to this event the gelding was found to be lame in the near foreleg. Stewards advised Mr Campton that a vet certificate would be required prior to PUNGO racing again. GENERALStewards approved the following weight variations at today’s meeting:Race 4: LADY SHOTGUN – Michael Cahill 55kg (+1kg) Race 1:GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100 M PERIGEAN – Rider R Maloney was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for use of the whip in consecutive strides prior to 100m. ROCK COMPOSER – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. MEHRETU – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced and bumped near the 900m. VESPER LYND – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on track and found to have a nasal discharge and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 10:52am. VIDEO VIXEN – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers, began awkwardly, unbalancing its rider and lost ground. When racing in restricted room near the 900m, raced ungenerously when being restrained, shifted out and bumped MEHRETU. PROLIFIC MELODY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer L Mayfield-Smith was advised PROLIFIC MELODY would be stood down from racing under AR79(4) for 3 months and must trial satisfactorily or gallop over 1000m prior to racing again. STAR DIAMOND – The saddle on the horse was adjusted on arrival at the barriers. Race 2: SUNTORY - 196 DOUBLE PEACH QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M CLICK CLICK BOOM – Raced in restricted room for a short distance entering the home straight when WARRIOR HEAD shifted in before being corrected. CUTTING EDGE – Raced wide for the majority. When asked to comment on the performance rider R Maloney advised the horse was inclined to over-race throughout the event. FIREFORCE – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. WARRIOR HEAD – Slow to begin. Raced greenly roundly the home turn and at the entrance to the home straight laid in crowding CLICK CLICK BOOM. Continued to lay in for the majority of the straight obliging its rider to stop riding and correct on a number of occasions. LA COMETA – Raced wide for the majority. Inclined to lay out for the majority of the event. MISHY – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the entrance to the home straight until near 200. PRIVATE SHOWTIME – Blundered on jumping and shifted in.Raced wide for the majority. WRITTEN LEGACY – Became unbalanced at the start after contacting the outside barrier and then crowded between runners and lost ground. SIMPLY FUN – Raced wide for the majority. Race 3: BROOKVALE UNION DARK 6% QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M CLUBHOUSE – Bumped at the start. DOUBLE GLAZED – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When asked to comment rider J Orman could offer no comment on the performance other than the horse may be better suited to races over a longer distance than of today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. SUPERZOOM – Jumped in at the start and bumped CLUBHOUSE. VICTORY MELODY – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn. SHE'S A FERRARI – From the wide barrier restrained at the start and shifted across heels to a rearward position closer to the rails. Race 4: JAMESON WHISKEY READY TO DRINK CLASS 3 HANDICAP (4YO ONLY QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE) 1100 M STAR GAMBLE – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up for clear running from entrance to home straight until near 150m. LIBERTY STEPS – Raced wide throughout. LADY SHOTGUN – Slow to begin. Race 5: XXXX BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1690 M THOUGHT OF THAT – After being taken in by O’Polly (G Cartwright) near the 1400m, raced in restricted for a short distance thereafter. G Cartwright was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. GOLDEEL – Raced wide for the majority. TARA JASMINE – Crowded at the start and lost ground. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. SMYTZER – Raced in restricted for a short distance near the 1400m. Raced keenly in the early stages. VAN GOGH – Bumped on jumping and as a result settled further back than anticipated. CHASING JACKLEY – Bumped on jumping. Near the 800m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. GRECIAN LASS – Raced keenly leaving the 800m and near the 700m improved onto heels, was steadied, and obliged to shift out. THE RIGHT WAY – Caught wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 1000m. DISCERNING – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 1400m. Approaching the home turn momentarily crowded for room and had to be steadied. O'POLLY – Weakened from the 500m.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer A Erhart was advised a warning would be placed on the horse for a poor performance. Race 6: BUNDABERG CAMPFIRE BOURBON BARREL CLASS 6 PLATE 1200 M ALLEZ ZOU – Jumped out at the start and bumped LADY WARDELL.HYPE – Brushed rounding the home turn. Held up for clear running approaching the finish and unable to be fully tested by its rider. JEMELDI – Raced wide throughout. Raced keenly for the majority of the event. KANAZAWA – Taken in approaching the 100m. PIZARRO – Slow to begin. COTTEE – Raced keenly approaching the 900m and laid in momentarily crowding AQUA ALTA. AQUA ALTA – Began awkwardly and shifted in. When racing keenly crowded for room near then 900m. Improved onto heels rounding the home turn shifted out and brushed with HYPE. Near the 150m shifted out before being placed in restricted room and having to steady approaching the finish. LADY WARDELL – Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 100m crowded for room and had to be checked when KANAZAWA was taken in by JEMELDI. At a subsequent inquiry D Smith, rider of JEMELDI, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that when under riding, he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent JEMELDI from shifting in, resulting in KANAZAWA being taken in and across the running of LADY WARDELL which had to be checked and lose its rightful running. The licence of D Smith to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 26th May up to and including midnight 3rd June 2024. Race 7: ANGELS ENVY QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M BLOODHAWKE – Bumped with ENCUBERTTO near the 1100m. Taken in near the 1000m by HEYOKA and was momentarily steadied. WINSOME STAR – Made the home turn awkwardly and shifted wider.Laid in under pressure in the home straight. WITHIN REASON – Jumped out at the start. ENCUBIERTO – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Jumped in at the start. Bumped with BLOODHAWKE near the1100m. Near the 1000m raced in restricted room between WITHIN REASON and BLOODHAWKE which was taken in by HEYOKA (B Thornton). B Thornton was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. INCA TRAIL – Crowded on jumping between WITHIN REASON and ENCUBERTO, both of which shifted ground. BRAVE AGENDA – Ducked its head as the start was effected and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ADIELLA – Began awkwardly and then bumped and lost ground. Taken wider near the 600m. SUNSHINE HIGHWAY – Near the 600m improved onto heels shifted out taking ADIELLA wider. COOL MUSIC – Slow to begin. Held up for the majority of the home straight and went to the line unable to be fully tested to the finish. Race 8: PEPPERJACK, HOLD YOUR HORSES QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 2180 M HIYAAM PROUD – Approaching 1400m raced keenly for a short distance. FIRST INNINGS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. RUMEUR – Rider CJ Graham advised she had concerns with the horse’s action in the event and for this reason she desisted from pressuring the horse form the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying symptoms of both the thumps and heat stress. Trainer S Ritchie was advised RUMEUR must trial satisfactorily and would also require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. TOMODACHI – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event. MISTERKIPCHOGE – Began awkwardly. Passing the winning post on the first occasion made the turn out of the home straight awkwardly and shifted out. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider C Williams reported after racing wide in the early and middle stages, the horse then was under pressure after hitting a flat spot near the 600m before responding to hard riding in the home straight. AUTUMN MISS – When asked to comment on the performance rider D Thornton could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery rate. SHY GUY – Held up approaching the home turn. KAIROS LOUIE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. RING ME UP – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Race 9: TAB WINTER PROVINCIAL STAYERS - HEAT - BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP 2180 M GRIPPING – Raced wide for the majority. LEATHER JACKET LEW – Raced in restricted for a short distance near the 1900m. PRIME IMPACT – When the pace of the race eased near the 1600m, improved onto heels, shifted out and progressed forward to race outside the leader from the 1400m. SHEZADANDI – Held up and unable to improve leaving the 500m and then obliged to shift out rounding the home turn to secure clear running. TWO SMOKIN BARRELS – Lost the near fore plate in running. BETTER NOT BITTER – Rider M Castle advised it was not her intention to lead, however after beginning well from the wide barrier and being caught wide, elected to allow the gelding to progress forward and take up a forward position. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. PORT MOURANT – Slow to begin. Taken wider rounding the home turn. Raced wide for the majority. ALDEENAARY – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 400m bumped by GRIPPING which shifted out to improve. Raced wide for the majority. NO MORE RED – Raced in restricted room rounding the home turn when tiring and had to be steadied when both LATELY and CONTRITION were taken in by POR MOURANT (J Byrne) which shifted in. J Byrne was advised to show more care in similar circumstances. CONTRITION – Held up for clear running between the 200m and finish line. TAVIESLASS – Raced wide for the majority.
