Stewards permitted the following overweights –
 
Race 1: H. Phillips +1kg (55kg)
 
As Jockey M. Du Plessis was not riding for acceptable reasons, changes were made as per the Race Day summary.
 
Race 2: THE LUCKY ALIEN – Apprentice J. Williams was fined $200 under AR 127)1) for failing to arrive on course and fulfil his riding engagement and was replaced by Apprentice C. Collis.
 
Race 6: BETTER THAN LOVE – Trainer S. Morrisey was fined $100 LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. 
 
Race 7: ALPHA JANE – Apprentice C. Collis was fined $200 under AR 143(13)(a) for failing to claim his full allowance and being replaced by Apprentice T. Fenlon.
 
Race 1:GRASON PARK MAIDEN HANDICAP         800 M
 
FAST FUSION – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. When under pressure in the straight, laid in. Apprentice C. Collis reported the gelding felt fine in its action but may be better suited over a longer journey.

FIND YOUR OWN – Laid in under pressure and near the 150m, dipped.
 
BAD FOREST– Raced wide throughout.
 
SCARLETT THUNDER – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Rider J. Orman reported his mount travelled fairly throughout, however; failed to respond when asked for an effort in the home straight and was disappointing. He added SCARLETT THUNDER may be better suited over a longer journey. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
STARRY GIRL – Slow to begin.
 
TUANAKI CREEK – Approaching the 200m, rider H. Phillips momentarily lost the use of her nearside rein.
 
NEEDAWINNA – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 2: AUSTRALIAN INDUSTRY TRADE COLLEGE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP       800 M
 
WRITTLE – Laid in under pressure passing the 100m and was corrected, resulting in WRITTLE not being fully tested to the finishing line.
 
BECAUSE THE NIGHT – Slow to begin. Near the 500m, was bumped on its hindquarters and became momentarily unbalanced, when WRITTLE shifted out.
 
GOBLIN' DE QUO – Raced wide throughout.
 
THE LUCKY ALIEN – Passing the 100m, shifted in and contacted the rail.
 
RUSSIAN PINS - Raced wide throughout. Near the 300m steadied and shifted to the inside of BECAUSE THE NIGHT, which laid out. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE WAITING MAN - Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 3: SEVEN NEWS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 mins owing to POPE CODY being difficult to load. Trainer C. Richardson was advised a warning would be placed on the colt in relation to its barrier manners.
 
AQUAHOLIC – Over-raced in the middle stages when the pace slackened and near the 900m, shifted out and raced wide from that point. Rider J. Bayliss reported his mount hung out for the majority and near the 400m shifted out and away from LIPORATA, which then presented a run for POPE CODY to improve between LIPORATA and AQUAHOLIC. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer S. Kendrick advised the gelding would now be spelled.
 
POPE CODY – Slow to begin.
 
HERE'S TO POWER – Began awkwardly.
 
LIPAROTA – Raced keen in the early stages.
 
MISHANI EMPIRE – Slow to begin. When under pressure in the straight, laid in, proving difficult for J. Taylor to ride out.
 
Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP         2200 M
 
NO MORE RED – Raced wide from the 700m. Forced wider approaching the 600m.
 
THE IRISH (IRE) – When under pressure in the straight, laid out.
 
NITROGLYCERINE – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
AROUND THE BUOY (NZ) – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
PAPAL MISS – When racing tight to the inside of NO MORE RED passing the 600m, had to take hold to avoid the heels of BID FOR FAME, which was taken wider by AROUND THE BUOY (NZ) which shifted out to improve. In all circumstances, rider K. Wilson-Taylor was severely reprimanded under AR 131(a).
 
BID FOR FAME (NZ) - Forced wider approaching the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have minor lacerations to the off-foreleg.
 
Race 5:SCHWEPPES MAIDEN HANDICAP  1700 M
 
On arrival at the barriers, BLUE AS BLUE (NZ) contacted the tractor, underwent a veterinary examination and was withdrawn at 2:06pm on veterinary advice.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on BLUE AS BLUE (NZ) to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
First: SECOND SUN – 4c win, 5c place
Second: KILNA – 2c place
Third: HOW YA BEEN ANYWAY – 8c place
 
Trainer J. Bruce was advised BLUE AS BLUE (NZ) would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.  
 
FONZIE ROCKS - Slow to begin.
 
KILNA (NZ) – Severely checked at the start when tightened between runners. Raced wide for the majority.
 
SECOND SUN – Shifted in abruptly at the start and bumped heavily with KILNA.
 
HOW YA BEEN ANYWAY – Apprentice J. Williams was severely reprimanded under AR 131(b) for failing to ride the gelding to the end of the race.
 
PELE PRINCESS – When racing tight between KILNA (NZ) (J. Orman) and SECOND SUN (B. Thornton) passing the 100m, steadied and was then awkwardly placed on the heels of SECOND SUN for several strides. When considering the incident, Stewards were of the view both KILNA and SECOND SUN contributed slightly, however; did not feel any one rider’s carelessness was at a level where a charge should be issued. Both riders B. Thornton and J. Orman were advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
IN THE PICTURE – Severely checked at the start when tightened between runners.
 
STILETTOS – Jumped out at the start.
 
CRIMSON REWARD – Jumped in at the start.
 
AUSTRAL STREET – Slow to begin. Rider M. Gray was severely reprimanded under AR 132(6)(c) for using his whip on the gelding when clearly out of contention.
 
WITH DIAMONDS – Held up for clear running from the 500m until the entrance to the home straight.
 
Race 6: GORDON'S GIN QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP       1700 M
 
After heavy showers, following the running of race 5, the track was downgraded to a Soft 7.
 
CAN'T GETWHATIWANT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DIABLO BOLT – After beginning well, settled in a more forward position.
 
HAKATERE (NZ) – When weakening near the 250m, eased to avoid the heels of DIABLO BOLT, which shifted out.
 
FARWEST – Slow to begin.
 
BETTER THAN LOVE - After being loaded in the barriers, became momentarily cast, was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced wide for the majority. Rider S. Collet could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding, which was eased down from the 250m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Apprentice D. McGillivray, rider of DIABLO BOLT, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR 131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift out near the 250m, when not clear of HAKATERE (NZ) resulting in Apprentice J. Williams having to take hold and lose his rightful running. Apprentice D. McGillivray’s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days, commencing midnight the 4th of June 2024 and concluding midnight the 17th of June 2024. When assessing penalty, account was given to his guilty plea, the fact he is an Apprentice, mitigating factors and the careless riding guidelines.
 
Race 7: TAB RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 HANDICAP         1700 M
 
KNEZE – In the early stages raced keenly. Held up for clear running for a short distance passing the 200m.
 
THE GOLDEN SOUL – Apprentice J. Williams reported after being caught wide early, allowed his mount to stride and take the lead passing the 1400m.

VANCITY – In the early stages, raced keenly.
 
OSAKA MISS – Declared a late scratching at 2:30pm due to the track downgrade.
 
DEAL AN ACE – Rider N. Beriman reported from a wide gate, she rode the gelding hard to be in a more forward position, however; did not expect to be sitting outside the lead in the early stages.
 
SAYS WHO – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover throughout and improved to sit a handy position passing the 700m.
 
Race 8: IMPERIAL RACING BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP         1350 M
 
DIVINE COURAGE – Slow to begin.
 
FREDDIE – When under pressure in the straight, shifted ground, obliging rider D. Thornton to stop riding and straighten on several occasions.
 
ENUNCIATION – Began very awkwardly resulting in rider J. Orman becoming unbalanced for a short distance.
 
ROCKIN' ARTIE – Apprentice B. Wheeler reported the gelding was not suited to the soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
BETTER YET – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
A CERTAIN MAYBE – Jumped out at the start.
 
MARCADA – Near the 1000m when over-racing, became awkwardly placed at the heels of ROCKIN' ARTIE and shifted out. Raced wide thereafter.
 
DON QUIXOTE - Restrained from a wide barrier to obtain a rearward trailing position. When racing wide passing the 700m, steadied and shifted back to the inside in a view to obtain clear running, but then was held up until the 300m where the gelding became awkwardly placed at the heels of BETTER YET after being taken out by DIVINE COURAGE which shifted out. Thereafter had some difficulty obtaining a clear run until passing the 100m.
 
THE MAXINATOR – Restrained from a wide barrier to obtain a rearward trailing position.
