Race 1:GREAT NORTHERN QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP       800m

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards considered an application by Jockey L. Tilley and Trainer P Webster for SHOWS A SIGN to be declared a non-runner. After taking evidence and reviewing the available patrol footage Stewards determined it was the barrier manners of the gelding which resulted in its being slow away and additionally as the gelding had finished in 4th place, Stewards, with mind to AR204(10), denied jockey Tilley’s request and declared correct weight on the judges semaphored numbers.

The start of this race was delayed approximately 8 minutes after GOOD KARMA became fractious behind the barriers, dislodged its rider and galloped riderless for a considerable distance prior to being recaptured. GOOD KARMA was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2.03pm. Stewards ordered that all bets on the mare be refunded with the following deductions to apply to all successful wagers placed prior to 2:03pm:

0cents in the dollar for the win
