Laid-out rounding the home-turn before commencing to weaken in the home straight. When asked to comment on the tactics, Jockey D. Smith, stated no specific instructions were issued other than to attempt to settle in a handy position. Jockey Smith advised the gelding was inclined to race very keenly early, and subsequently he elected to restrain near the 1000m to allow MY PINS to cross hoping that ROLLINWITHTHEFLOW would settle, however when the speed of the race slackened, it commenced to race very keenly obliging Jockey Smith to shift out before attempting to stride forward to obtain a position nearer the rail. Jockey Smith stated that when it became apparent that position was unattainable, he was obliged to race wide, as the gelding was proving difficult to ride, as it was inclined to lay out from the 600m. Stewards noted the explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer R. Tyrell was advised that when considering the performance, the gelding’s nominations would now be refused at Metropolitan race-meetings until its form improves to the requisite standard and that it would further be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards’ satisfaction prior to racing again.
