In the incident, SHORE TO HAPPEN and SCHOONA THE BETTER were hampered. After considering all the evidence, Rider T. HOOKS (NZ) – Had some difficulty obtaining clear run for some distance rounding the home-turn and in the early part of the home straight before obtaining clear running to the inside of PARUES when that runner shifted out passing the 100m. When questioned regarding the level of vigour shown over the concluding stages, Rider S. Collett stated she was very mindful of the racing manners of PARUES, which was racing forward of her mount and had shifted out abruptly before starting to shift back in. She further said she was concerned PARUES was shifting in under pressure, and if it continued to do so approaching the winning post, she would be precariously placed on that’s runner’s heels. She acknowledged after seeing footage of the incident, there was sufficient room to continue to ride her mount. After considering all the circumstances, the explanation tendered by rider S. Collett was accepted, however; she was reminded where possible, she must ride all her mounts to the end of the race.
