SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Aquis Gold Coast Saturday 3rd August 2024 Benchmark 55 Hcp - NO MORE RED:
Trainer S. Morrisey reported the gelding had been scoped the day following the event, with no abnormality detected, and it was the stable’s intention to continue with its current preparation.
 
Aquis Gold Coast Saturday 3rd August 2024 Maiden Hcp – A ROYAL SORT:
Trainer L. Freedman reported the filly had pulled up well with no abnormalities detected following the event, and it was the stable’s intention to now freshen A ROYAL SORT up prior its next race start.
 
GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 6: 9 ROTHERO ESSGEE – A. Allen +0.5kg (54.5kg)
 
As rider M. Hellyer was unavailable due to personal reasons, riding replacements were made as per the raceday summary sheet below.
 
Race 1: TAB MAIDEN PLATE      2210 M
 
The start was delayed by approximately 5 minutes due to medical staff having to attend to a patron. Further, the bridle on FIT AND PROPER, also had to be refitted behind the gates. 
 
BEASTICON: When being steadied near the 1600m, became unbalanced along with its rider A. Allen.
 
FIT AND PROPER: Bridle was refitted at the gates. Raced wide in the early stages. A reprimand was recorded against Trainer E. Hargrave, for presenting the horse with gear incorrectly fitted.
 
HOW YA BEEN ANYWAY: Raced keen in the early stages.
 
KENSHIN MARU: Shifted out abruptly on jumping. Over the concluding stages laid out.
 
PRIDE OF PASSION: When under pressure in the straight laid out.
 
RANGER ENJAY: Checked on leaving the gates when tightened between HOW YA BEEN ANYWAY, which shifted out after being bumped and PRIDE OF PASSION, which shifted in.
 
SMELTER (IRE): Approaching the 1400m, commenced to over race and restrained from the heels of HOW YA BEEN ANYWAY. Continued to over race for a short distance after.
 
FIONTE: Raced wide in the early stages. Rider G. Cartright reported the mare raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer B. Hull advised the mare will now be spelled.
 
Race 2: BARRIER REEF POOLS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE        800 M
 
The start was delayed by approximately 3 minutes following the delay in Race 1. Further, KIRRA’S SISTER had to be re-saddled behind the gates.
 
RAMP IT UP: Slow into stride. Near the 300m, laid out toward the heels of DEEBEE’S GIRL, before being corrected. When attempting a run passing the 200m to the inside of GRANDMA’S LOVE, was hampered when SHE AIN’T SWEET, shifted out, resulting in RAMP IT UP, making contact with GRANDMA’S LOVE.
 
STATE IN TEXAS: Began awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout. When under pressure in the straight, laid out.
 
DEEBEE'S GIRL: Laid out from the 400m until on straightening and there after raced very greenly.
 
GRANDMA'S LOVE: Shifted out on leaving the gates.
 
KIRRA'S SISTER: Re-saddled behind gates.
 
READY TO SCHIPP: Began awkwardly.
 
 
PARTY ISLAND: Near the 200m steadied and shifted in, when disappointed for a run between KIRRA’S SISTER and STATE IN TEXAS, which shifted out under pressure.
 
MISHANI DELTA: Began awkwardly. Made the home turn awkwardly and became unbalanced when racing to the inside of SHE AIN’T SWEET.
 
Race 3: LANCE'S 50TH MIDLIFE CRISIS FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN HANDICAP        1100 M
 
 
MORGANITE: Began very awkwardly.
 
GLISSA: Raced wide without cover for the majority. Hampered passing the 600m.
 
SOFALA: Bumped at the start.
 
FIERCE ROYALTY: Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping SOFALA.
 
CRYPT DE PIN: Began awkwardly. Approaching the 200m, was hampered when MORGANITE (App C. Baker) shifted in before being corrected. Apprentice C. Baker was advised to exercise more care.
 
TOXIC: When racing ungenerously passing the 600m, shifted out abruptly away from the heels of MORGANITE, and hampered GLISSA. The mare then hung out from the 400m and for the majority of the straight. Trainer P. Nolan was notified a warning would be recorded against the mare for its racing manners.
 
Race 4: HAPPY 18TH LUCA FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN HANDICAP   1100 M
 
READY NEDDY GO: Raced wide without cover from the 500m. Rider K. Wilson-Taylor could offer no excuse for the disappointing performance of the mare, which was having it first race start. A post-race vet examinations revealed no abnormalities.
 
WITHEREN LASS: Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
HI JULES: Race wide without cover for the majority. 
 
HEARTS ARE RACING: Hampered near the 150m.
 
ONATARE: In the straight, laid out under pressure before being corrected and near the 150m, hampered HEARS ARE RACING. Rider W. D’Avila was advised, the better option, would have been to refrain from using the whip in the circumstances and ride the mare with both hands on the reins.
 
AERIAL ARSENAL: Approaching the 100m, shifted to the inside of ONATARE, to obtain clear running.
 
ICHIKA: Stood flat footed and lost considerable ground (5 lengths). Trainer R. Bowen was advised that ICHIKA must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
SHORT APPROACH: Passing the 800m, steadied from the heels of SKI BY.
 
Race 5: IMPERIAL RACING COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN HANDICAP     1100 M
 
SIMPLY EXCELS: Tightened for room at the start. Passing the 800m, steadied form the heels of EVERSTAR. Rider J. Orman reported the gelding raced greenly in the straight.
 
 
LION'S PRIDE: Raced wide for the majority.
 
STAVRITZEL: Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
BOOMLANDER: Shifted in on jumping, contacting SIMPLY EXCELS and became unbalanced.
 
HAPPILYNAIVE: Tightened for room at the start.
 
INVISIBLE TARGET: Shifted out bumping HAPPILYNAIVE and consequently, rider C. Taylor became unbalanced in the saddle, losing the use of his offside iron for several strides, before then regaining it.
 
KOTONI: Slow into stride.
 
Race 6: GORDON'S GIN CLASS 4 HANDICAP         1100 M
 
SHOT OF WHISKEY (NZ): Raced three wide without cover from the 600m.
 
DOWN THE BARREL: Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ROTHERO ESSGEE: As the start was effected, became fractious, sat back, and unbalanced rider A. Allan. Then left the gates awkwardly and lost ground.
 
ANNAKURI: Began awkwardly.
 
Race 7: GREAT NORTHERN CLASS 1 HANDICAP         1710 M
 
DUNZOOMING: Shifted in on jumping and bumped BOVIDAE. Rider D. Peisley reported the gelding, which was second up from a spell, pulled hard through the event and as a result, commenced to weaken form the 300m.
 
BOVIDAE: Raced wide without cover in the early stages.
 
DUMA: Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
CRIMSON WARNING: Change of Tactics: Intention to be more forward. Settled behind the leader. Trainer N. Beck was reprimanded for failing to advise of the change of tactics in accordance with AR100(1)(b).
 
WIND RUSH FARM: Slow to begin. Passing the 1400m, got its head up when being checked from the heels of MIGHTY JUDD.
 
MIGHTY JUDD: Shortly after the start, steadied from the wide barrier and shifted in to race closer to the rail. Had difficulty obtaining a clear running from 300m, until near the 100m. When questioned rider J. Stanley explained he had been given no instructions as per usual on the gelding, but expected good speed in the race, and although drawn the widest, was hoping to settle just off the speed. He said the gelding, as previously, did not show the expected speed and settled towards the rear. He further said near the 700m, he elected to shift back to the rail to avoid covering extra ground by following DUMA, which was racing wide at that point. He added in the straight, he had difficulty obtaining clear running and passing the 50m momentarily steadied as he was concerned MAJESTIC TEAKO, might roll out at that point.
 
WHYTEEPEE: Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid out under pressure in the straight.
 
Race 8: SCHWEPPES FILLIES AND MARES RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP       1350 M
 
STORM DREAMER: Raced keenly in the early stages. Had difficulty obtaining a clear running over the final 100m and went to the end of the race not fully tested.
 
DIVAZINO (NZ): When making ground late, was steadied from heels near the 50m.
 
SATASHI: Slow to begin. In the early stages, raced keen with its head up and continued to race keenly for some distance after.
 
STAR SEEKER: Began awkwardly. Raced wide early, before crossing to join the leader near the 900m.
 
MILAGRO: Raced wide without cover from the 900m.
 
Race 9: RAY WHITE IPSWICH COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP         1350 M
 
OUTLAW JOSEY WALES: Slow to begin.
 
TOOLATEMATE: Near the 150m blundered.
 
WORTHY ESSGEE: Steadied from the heels of TEE AMICI near the 800m. In the straight laid in.
 
SARODEC: Slow to begin.
 
ITALIAN AWARD: Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
STEP ON FIRE: Just before the winning post, momentarily steadied when racing tight to the inside of GAELIC THIUNDER (N. Evans), which shifted in. Rider N. Evans was advised to exercise more care.
 
ASGOODASYOUGETT: Held up for a run from the 400m until approaching the 200m.
