QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT IPSWICH TURF CLUB MONDAY 7TH OCTOBER 2024 WEATHER – FineTRACK RATING – Soft 5 (Good 4 at 12:10pm)RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. ZimmermannStewards – J. Williamson, D. McMahon, O. Legg, P. Reardon GENERALStewards permitted the following overweight:Race 4 – J. Bayliss +1kg As S. Cormack was unable to ride due to acceptable reasons and M. Savva was unable to ride due to being ill, rider changes were made as per the Race Day Summary. Jockey M. Savva was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to resuming. Trainer I. Turner was reprimanded pursuant to LR 36(6)(a) for failing to scratch his dual acceptor (MYGIRLGLADY’S) by the prescribed time. Race 1: BARRIER REEF POOLS OPEN HANDICAP 1200 M LADY WARDELL – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey G. Cartwright stated that the mare may not have appreciated today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. CACOFONIX – Slow to begin. Laid out when placed under pressure over the final 100m. Trainer D. Bowen was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. DEEP BLAST – Reared as the start was affected and lost considerable ground. Trainer A. Campton was advised DEEP BLAST would require a barrier certificate prior to racing. MISS HELMUT – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages and proved difficult to settle. Laid out rounding the home turn. When asked to comment on today’s tactics adopted, Jockey N. Masuda stated that his instructions were to lead on the mare, however when it became apparent that he was unable to do so approaching the 1000m, he attempted to restrain, however MISS HELMUT continued to over race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Race 2: GREAT NORTHERN BM65 HANDICAP 1666 M EASTOWN – Laid out slightly in the early part of the home straight. RESURRECTED – Began awkwardly. Over raced when attempting to settle outside the leader in the early stages. Laid out rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Race 3: PRECINCT URBAN PLANNING MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 MLONJOURNO – Began awkwardly and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. READY FOR VEGAS – When attempting to muster speed in the early part of the race, raced ungenerously for some distance leaving the 1000m. ASAMBE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. MATERIALIST – Began awkwardly and bumped PUNTER PANTHER after the start. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Laid out near the 100m. ALLY – After being caught wide and racing keenly, restrained for cover near the 900m. Held up approaching the home turn, shortly thereafter held up on the heels of the tiring LA DEMOISELLE and was obliged to steady. Held up before being obliged to shift very wide on the course and obtain clear running near the 350m. LA DEMOISELLE – Had to be re saddled behind the barriers. JEDIAH – Raced wide throughout. Laid in rounding the home turn. PANTHER POWER – Bumped after the start. Race 4: GORDON'S GIN CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1350 M RASHFORD – Held up rounding the home and in the early part of the home straight. NAAHRO – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its off foreleg. Trainer L. Abbott was advised NAAHRO would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. RHODES – Jockey M. Du Plessis reported his mount was inclined to lay in throughout. Trainer W. Hulbert reported post-race that his mount had been galloped on. ONOMATOPOEIA – Raced wide in the early stages. SHINTARO LASS – Approaching the 1000m when over racing, steadied from the heels of RHODES which shifted in. TORRENTIAL – Slow to begin. DUSTYIAM – Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 100m. CLAUDIUS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 5: RDO EQUIPMENT BM65 HANDICAP 1200 M BROCKY – Shifted out at the start and bumped IMMORTALITY. HALFAHOPE – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Trainer B. Hull commented that the gelding was having its third run this preparation, its most recent start the gelding raced wide throughout and Mr Hull was satisfied with its performance and expected natural improvement for today’s event. MILTON ROAD (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Jockey A. Mallyon stated that after being caught wide was forced to settle further back than anticipated and raced ungenerously when attempting to find cover near the 800m. Jockey A. Mallyon suggested that removing the Kyneton nose band may be advantageous to the gelding. TWYFORD – Raced keenly leaving the 900m. IMMORTALITY – Hampered after the start. Near the 1000m, was obliged to steady from the heels of DEVINE FORCE (R. Dolan) which shifted in. Jockey R. Dolan was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Jockey D. Turner reported after being hampered at the start and losing ground, he elected to ride his mount along before it commenced to over race for a short distance. DEVINE FORCE – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey R. Dolan reported that his mount did not travel strongly throughout the event at all and when asked for an effort, proved disappointing. Race 6: TAB 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1100 M PRADO – Slow to begin. Obliged to steady from heels leaving the 700m. VIKING VALOUR – Leaving the 700m, over raced for a short distance when the pace of the race slackened. Jockey R. Jamieson was reminded of her obligations under the provisions of AR 131(d) regarding reducing the pace of the race. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported that his mount felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. LASER BEAM – Shortly after jumping, shifted in abruptly. Raced wide throughout. HUMAN TOUCH – Shortly after the start, buffered between runners and lost ground. Leaving the 700m, commenced to over race and checked from heels when the pace of the race slackened. UNCUT GEM – Raced wide throughout. Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300m and 200m. Trainer M. Wilson was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. RUBYDOO – Shortly after the start, bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced when HUMAN TOUCH was taken in by LASER BEAM. Apprentice J. McMurray lost his whip in the early part of the home straight. PROMETIO MAS – Began awkwardly. GOOD'N'LUCKY – Had to be resaddled on arrival to the barriers. Raced wide throughout.
