Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350M Stewards considered an objection lodged by apprentice B. Wheeler the rider of the third placed MISS REILLY against BOW TIE AFFAIR (R. Stewards after hearing evidence from the relevant parties and viewing the stewards patrol footage, found that leaving the 200m, BOW TIE AFFAIR shifted out bumping with MISS REILLY. Stewards however bearing in mind the degree of interference and the beaten margin between 1st and 3rd could not be satisfied that had this incident not occurred that MISS REILLY would have finished ahead of BOW TIE AFFAIR at the conclusion of the event and therefore the objection was dismissed, and correct weight given on the judges semaphored numbers. When asked to comment, trainer L. Birchley stated that in his opinion its most recent win at Rockhampton on the 19/10/24 was an inferior class compared to today. Mr Birchley further added that when considering the comments of his jockey, he may apply a tongue tie at its next start. Mr Birchley also gave an undertaking to report back to Stewards if he was dissatisfied in the manner in which WHAT A DOOZY pulls up. CALVARY – Buffeted between runners at the start and lost ground. Hung out from the 500m until entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
