Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 1: 12 UNSURE MISS – D. Smith +1kg (55kg)
As rider R. Dolan and B. Andrew was not riding for acceptable reasons, Stewards permitted the rider change(s) as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Apprentice B. Wheeler pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 188(c) in that he attempted to weigh out for Race 1 with an unapproved safety vest. In assessing penalty, account was taken for his guilty plea, record, forthright evidence and was subsequently fined $1,000.
The start times of the following races were amended due to storm activity in the area:

Race 1: COASTAL VEHICLE SOLUTIONS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1100 M
The start of this race was delayed due to GRAFTERBURNERS being fractious in the gates.
BRAZEN SAILOR – Near the 250m, became unbalanced when bumped by ALL TOO LATE, which shifted out.
GRAFTERBURNERS – Began awkwardly and shortly, after tightened between runners and steadied.
WILD BEAN – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from passing the 200m until near the 50m.
SHEMAKESMENERVOUS – Near the 300m, steadied when tightened between ROYAL CHIC and MILESTONE, which shifted out when racing greenly. Raced wide with cover.
ALL TOO LATE – Bumped with MISHANI PEARL on jumping. Near the 250m, shifted out and bumped with BRAZEN SAILOR.
MISHANI PEARL – Bumped on jumping and shortly after, tightened between runners and steadied. In the early stages, raced greenly. Rider G. Cartwright was harmlessly dislodged on returning to the mounting enclosure.
ROYAL CHIC – Began awkwardly. Raced wide with cover.
UNSURE MISS – Trainer R. Tyrell was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. Eased down in the straight. Rider D. Smith could offer no explanation. A post- race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a slow recovery and mild heat stress. Trainer R. Tyrell indicated the filly got its tongue over the bit and will be scoped in the ensuing days. Trainer R. Tyrell was advised a veterinary clearance, inclusive of endoscopic results, is required prior to resuming racing.
MILESTONE – Raced wide in the early stages. Near the 300m, shifted out when racing greenly.
MISHANI TREASURE – Began awkwardly.
HAPPY COFFEE – In the early stages, raced greenly.
Race 2: SCHWEPPES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 800 M
After arriving at the gates, riders were directed to return to the enclosure and horses taken to the race-day tie ups due to encroaching lightening. Further, due to the lightning activity in the area, the start of this race was delayed considerably.
SECRET REVOLUTION – Began awkwardly. Rounding the home turn, was held up for clear running before shifting out near the 250m and in so doing brushed with FLYING RUPERT.
BECAUSE THE NIGHT – Near the 400m, carried wider. After the race, it was noted the gelding had lost its off fore plate.
GYPSY TRICKS (NZ) – Rider M. Schrapel reported his saddle slipped back shortly after the start.
RAN NA LADY – Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn, and when placed under pressure in the home straight.
SUPER ZAMBONI – Began awkwardly. Laid out approaching the 400m and carried BECAUSE THE NIGHT wider. After the race, it was noted the gelding had lost its off fore plate.
HOKUSAI – Began awkwardly.
FLYING RUPERT – Brushed near the 250m.
After the running of this race, the track was downgraded to a Heavy 8 at 2:41pm.
Race 3: IMPERIAL RACING CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1666 M
ICHIBAN – Made the crossing at the 1550m awkwardly.
PUNJABI LANDING – Made the crossing at the 1550m awkwardly.
VENTUROUS – In the early and middle stages, raced keenly.
SILVER PEARL – Made the crossing at the 1550m awkwardly.
CALM BUCKLE (NZ) – Slow to begin.
CLASSIQUE GAL – Bumped with INTROVERT at the start.
INTROVERT – Bumped at the start by CLASSIQUE GAL. Made the crossing at the 1550m awkwardly. Commenced to weaken from approaching the 600m. Rider H. Richardson could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding, which was first up from a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer L. Anderson was advised that a warning would be placed on INTROVERT for its poor performance.
SUPER FAIR – Tightened for room at the start between runners. When under pressure in the home straight, laid in.
Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100 M
It was noted the outside barrier gate rebounded on stall 2 and 8.
IHAVESEENTHELIGHT – Slow into stride.
SUPREMEPERFORMANCE – Slow into stride and then tightened between SHAQUE D’MOUR and PRIVET, which shifted in and away from ANDI DON'T CARE.
PLATINUM GIFT – Began awkwardly.
AUTUMNGIRL – Shifted in near the 100m.
SOME STYLE – Raced wide without cover. Near the 100m, crowded onto IHAVESEENTHELIGHT by AUTUMNGIRL (App J. McMurray), which shifted in under riding before being correct. Apprentice J McMurray was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
ANDI DON'T CARE – Began awkwardly.
SEABEE – Began awkwardly.
SHAQUE D'AMOUR – After beginning well and blinkers on today, the gelding took up the lead. Rider M. Du Plessis was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip in consecutive strides.
CHEMIOSMOSIS – Checked near the 500m.
PONTYPRIDD – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover. Apprentice O. Kendal reported the gelding hung out approaching the 400m.
Apprentice J. McMurray rider of AUTUMNGIRL pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 500m, he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of CHEMIOSMOSIS, which was tightened out onto PONTYPRIDD and eventually checked. Apprentice J. McMurray’s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period of ten (10) days, commencing midnight Sunday 22 December 2024, concluding midnight Wednesday 1 January 2025. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record, status as an Apprentice and the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.
Race 5: BARRIER REEF POOLS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M
POSTMAN'S GAP – Bumped with EVERYWHERE at the start.
VANGUARD LEGEND – Raced wide without cover. Rider J. Guthmann-Chester reported after being caught wide, was not suited to the tempo in the middle stages and the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
DEEP DRIVE – Bumped at the start with WIMOWEH.
HELLO LOVELY – Began awkwardly. Rider M. Harley was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip in consecutive strides.
WIMOWEH – Shifted out at the start and bumped with DEEP DRIVE.
BOLSHEVIC ROAD – Became momentarily unbalanced near the 300m.
EVERYWHERE – Bumped with POSTMAN'S GAP at the start. Near the 1000m, became unbalanced when racing close to the rail.
MISTER TUDOR – Began awkwardly.
ROTHELLY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
After the running of this race, the track was downgraded to a Heavy 9 at 4:26pm.
Race 6: HARMONY BATHROOM PRODUCTS BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP 1200 M
MILL ROSSA – Laid out rounding the home turn.
HE'S HEAVEN – Began awkwardly. In the early and middle stages, raced keenly. Held up for clear running from passing the 400m until near the 200m.
ROLL UP – Trainer K. Schweida was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. Began awkwardly and shifted in. In the middle stages, raced wide without cover.
CENTRE BOUNCE – Began awkwardly.
UPSTART LEGEND – Began awkwardly. Rider A. Jones reported the mare was making an abnormal breathing noise after the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Race 7: K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1350 M
FREELAND was declared a late withdrawal at 2:44pm due to the track downgrade.
EXECUTIVE STRESS – Rider A. Jones reported the gelding was not suited to the heavy track conditions. After the race it was noted the gelding had lost its off fore plate.
RIVIERA BLUE – Tightened for room at the start between CASROCK and MAGIC IN ME, which shifted out.
SIAN STAR – Began awkwardly. In the middle stages, raced wide without cover.
POSEIDON RULER – Tightened for room at the start between CASROCK and MAGIC IN ME, which shifted out.
Race 8: TAB CLASS 1 PLATE 1350 M
PEACEFUL PRINCE – Rider V. Duric reported near the 300m, he lost the use of his nearside iron before regathering it passing the 200m.
AITUTAKI – Carried out and steadied near the 500m by HURRICANE HARLOW, which in turn taken out by BETATHANEVA (K. Wilson-Taylor), which shifted out to improve. STAR ACT, which was racing to the outside of AITUTAKI was inconvenienced. Rider K. Wilson-Taylor was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding.
BETATHANEVA – Shifted out near the 500m.
HURRICANE HARLOW – For some distance passing the 1000m, raced tight with RIVER ROGUE. Near the 150m, steadied when momentarily tightened between AITUTAKI, which shifted in slightly away from STAR ACT and BETATHANEVA after being brushed by PROVANCE, rolled out.
RIVER ROGUE – For some distance passing the 1000m, raced tight with HURRICANE HARLOW.
MAKE HASTE – Held up for clear running from near the 500m until passing the 300m and near the 400m, steadied from the heels of PEACEFUL PRINCE, which rolled out.
WHISTLIN' RULER – After the race it was noted the gelding had lost its off fore plate.
