Race 1: VALE BARRY HINTON QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 800M

DAY TO REMEMBER – Began awkwardly, brushing ARNIE’S LANE, resulting in rider M. Savva becoming unbalanced. Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
JUMBLED – Apprentice J. McMurray reported the gelding hung out, particularly rounding the home turn and would be better suited over a longer journey. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a severe laceration to its near-hind tendon. Due to the severity of the injury, the gelding was euthanized on humane grounds.
 
UPTURN – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure over the final 200m.
 
CHARLOTTE'S HERE – Began awkwardly.
 
LUCKY MAN – Rounding the home turn, tightened for room and steadied when racing between SANDY GRIP and LEUCAENA which was taken out by UPTURN.
 
LEUCAENA – Rounding the home turn, tightened for room between LUCKY MAN and UPTURN (M. Wishart), which shifted out after improving onto the heels of JUMBLED. Rider M. Wishart was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident and told she must make greater efforts to restrain her mounts in similar situations.
 
Race 2: IMPERIAL RACING MAIDEN PLATE 1690M

PARALYZED FLAXEN – Slow to begin. Trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer V. Burton was advised the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
 
TAKE ME OUT – Shortly after the start bumped. Weakened from the 400m. Rider A. Bakos-Schrapel advised after beginning well and being caught wide in the early stages, she allowed her mount to stride to take up a position near the leader. Rider A. Bakos-Schrapel was reminded of her obligations when using the whip when out of contention. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.  
 
BONZABELTER – Shortly after the start bumped. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 500m until passing the 400m.
 
ALLEZBEC – Near the 200m, inconvenienced when MIGRATORY momentarily shifted out.
 
ASINGLEPROMISE – Stewards accepted trainer T. Lambourn’s reasons for the late declaration of the rider. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
AVIOR – Over raced in the early stages. Rider M. Cahill reported the filly raced keenly in the early stages and when the tempo of the race increased in the middle stages, settled, however; failed to run on as expected in the home straight.

Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a good 4 at 1:48pm.
 
Race 3: RAY WHITE IPSWICH CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1690M

AUTORA – Slow to muster early speed. Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Passing the 50m, brushed and taken wider by GENERAL BARCA (J. Huxtable), which was shifting to the outside of LONERGY. Rider J. Huxtable was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. Approaching the winning post, laid in and tightened GENERAL BARCA onto LONERGY.
 
GENERAL BARCA – Held up for a run from passing the 500m and near the 300m, checked from the heels of GIRRAMAY, which rolled out. Approaching the winning post raced tight.
 
JEDIAH – Bumped on jumping, resulting in jrider D. Evens becoming unbalanced. Raced keenly and close to heels in the early stages. Raced wide without cover from the 700m.
 
NO DOUBLE DIPPING – Passing the 500m, steadied from the heels of LUMIERE, which rolled out.
 
TYPHOON TIP – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Apprentice J. Williams reported the mare would be better suited over a shorter journey. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
ROSEFINCH – Rider M. Hellyer pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR211(1) in that he returned to scale in excess of 0.5kg overweight and was fined $200.
 
ADELAIDE'S LACE – Began awkwardly. Near the 250m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of HELLO IN THERE for several strides.
 
HELLO IN THERE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
WANDILLA – Laid in under pressure from passing the 200m.
 
LONERGY – Rider B. Andrew pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m. Rider B. Andrew’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 21st of December 2024 and to expire midnight 29th of December 2024. In assessing penalty, account was taken of her guilty plea, record, the QRIC Whip Penalty guidelines and her totality of whip use (18).
 
Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1200M

Correct weight was delayed allowing apprentice R. Thorburn, rider of the 4th placed MIO SORRENTO to view the Stewards patrol footage of the home turn. When apprentice R. Thorburn decided he did not wish to lodge a protest, correct weight was given on the judges’ semaphored numbers.
 
LOST HIS BEANS – As the start was effected, put its head down and was slow to begin (2L). Rider M. Hellyer reported the gelding got its tongue over the bit during the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate and was treated by the on-course veterinarian.
 
FASTCONI – Shifted in at the start, tightening MAGNUS BELLAGIO. Raced wide in the early stages. Near the 100m, brushed with DUNE AND DUSTED.
 
PRIME ASSET – Shifted out at the start. Hung out at the 600m, across the heels of FASTCONI, which shifted in. Hung out rounding the home turn and when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
DWINDLING SPIRIT – Inconvenienced near the 600m when PRIME ASSET hung out.
 
MAGNUS BELLAGIO – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
MIO SORRENTO – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Near the 300m, checked when disappointed for a run between WHISTLIN’ ARROW, which shifted out and MAGNUS BELLAGIO, which was taken in slightly by PRIME ASSET.
 
DUNE AND DUSTED – Near the 100m, brushed with FASTCONI.
 
WHISTLIN' ARROW – Rider L. Miller reported his mount hung out during the event. Rider L. Miller was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(c) for using the whip when out of contention.

Race 5: TAB MAIDEN PLATE 1350M

OUR MISSILE – Near the 150m, steadied when tightened between RUMBLING BOY and KELLISA, which rolled in. When questioned regarding his riding of OUR MISSILE, jockey A. Allen explained last start the horse lead the event comfortably, however; today was unable to do so and he elected to take a sit just off the pace. He said the gelding was only having its third start and raced greenly, with him having to apply the whip approaching the 400m. He added OUR MISSILE didn’t travel into the race like its previous start and although tightened near the 150m, he elected not to continue applying pressure to the gelding from this point. Rider A. Allen was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race, when possible. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
KELLISA – Raced wide throughout.
 
LILICA EBET – Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
NAVILLUS HELLFIRE – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
 
SCOTTVILLE SCOOTER – Began awkwardly. Apprentice R. Thorburn reported the filly didn’t travel comfortably throughout the race.
 
SNIPPETY BOBBINS (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
FREYA'S MAGIC – Raced wide throughout. Laid out from the 500m until entering the home straight.
 
Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a good 3 at 3:40pm.
 
Race 6: SEVEN RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1350M

NAILS AND PRIDE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
RECANATI – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
JUNGLE FEVER – Began awkwardly.
 
MIKKI EIGHT – Slow to begin.
 
PRETTY RHO – Near the 800m, improved onto heels and was steadied.
 
MADAME MOTH – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after requiring farrier attention.
 
Race 7: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 800M

PALAWA KANI – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SUNIKI – Slow to begin.
 
THE POWER OF ONE – Shifted in shortly after the start. Rounding the home turn, laid in and away from MR BROSE, which shifted in slightly.
 
VIKING VALOUR – Slow to begin.
 
I AM THOR – Slow to begin and then tightened when THE POWER OF ONE shifted in.
 
THE BELL JAR – Began awkwardly. Near the 500m, steadied when awkwardly placed to the inside of SUNIKI.
 
Race 8: MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM ITC TEAM BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1100M
 
KEMI ZABI – Raced keenly in the early stages.Rider A. Allen pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m. Rider Allen’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 30th  of December 2024 and to expire midnight 7th of January 2025. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record, the QRIC Whip Penalty guidelines and the totality of whip use (16).
 
SELOUS – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
SUJEED – Began awkwardly. Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
CLAIRVUE MOLLY – Held up for clear running from the 300m until passing the 200m before shifting out to take a tight run between SURREAL ASCOT and ACTION KING.
 
GOOD TIMES AGAIN – Awkwardly placed close to the heels of ACTION KING passing the 400m. Approaching the winning post, steadied when taken out towards the heels of KEMI ZABI by SUJEED (App J. McMurray), which shifted out. Apprentice J. McMurray was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
DEPUTIZE – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a sustained a laceration to the inside of the off-hind hock.
 
ORSETTO – Raced wide throughout.
