GENERAL
Race 3 - Stewards accepted the reasons provided by trainer J. Gilmore for a late application to remove the tongue tie and permitted NEO VICI to race without a tongue tie.

Race 1: TAB MAIDEN PLATE 2180 M

BLOOD RED – Commenced to over race approaching the 1700m and continued to over race until leaving the 1500m. Raced in restricted room over the final 100m. Approaching the winning post bumped CAESAR CAKE.
 
BRIEF SPIRIT – Shifted three wide leaving the 1000m to improve. Leaving the 800m, momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of CAPTAIN GOOD VIBES which was taken outwards by CAESAR CAKE which shifted out to improve. Jockey J. Bayliss rider of CASEAR CAKE was advised to exercise greater care. Apprentice T. Fenlon reported that after attempting to improve into the race passing the 1000m, the gelding did not let down as expected and proved disappointing for the remainder of the event.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
CITY OF TROY (NZ) – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey J. Murphy stated that his mount was under pressure for the majority of the event and commenced to give ground from the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer N. Hemmings was advised a metropolitan bar would be placed on the gelding until its form improves.
 
CAESAR CAKE – Bumped approaching the winning post.
 
CUT DIAMONDS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey L. Tarrant was dislodged on pulling up and was assessed by QAS officials and underwent a concussion examination. Jockey L. Tarrant was subsequently cleared by QAS to fulfil his remaining engagements.
Race 2: GREAT NORTHERN QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 800 M
 
MHASAHN – Slow to begin. Raced greenly during the early stages. Apprentice E. Lang pleaded guilty and was fined $200 pursuant to AR 131(b) for failing to ride her mount out to the end of the race. In determining penalty, Stewards were satisfied her actions hadn’t cost her mount 3rd place and also took into account her guilty plea and Apprentice Jockey status.
 
IMPERVIOUS – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly during the early stages. Had to be steadied from the heels of MHASAHN leaving the 700m.
 
MISHANI BREEZE – Slow to begin.
 
SURE START – Slow to begin. Steadied approaching the 700m and crowded for room between VEGA NOVA which shifted in marginally and IMPERVIOUS which shifted out when racing greenly. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
UNSURE MISS – Raced greenly throughout.
 
DESTINYS PINNACLE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the home turn was disappointed for a run to the inside of MHASAHN and had to be steadied.
 
Race 3: SCHWEPPES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M

CRACKENTHORPE (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
DAISY'S PRIDE – Bumped DEUTERIUM after the start. Raced wide throughout. Near the 600m raced greenly and shifted out abruptly.
 
VESPER LYND – Laid out rounding the home turn. Jockey M. Rodd reported that in that mare may have got its tongue back during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery as well as the mare to be making respiratory noise. Trainer S. Dwyer was advised VESPER LYND would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of endoscopic results prior to resuming.
 
IN NO DOUBT – Raced wide with cover.
 
NEO VICI – Slow to begin.
 
ACAPULCO GIRL (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Jockey R. Stewart reported that he was not entirely disappointed with the performance of the filly and that it would derive benefit from today’s event.
 
DEUTERIUM – Bumped heavily and became unbalanced. Steadied from heels approaching the 800m when IN NO DOUBT shifted in to obtain cover. Jockey D. Thornton rider of IN NO DOUBT was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Raced wide with cover.
 
Race 4: VINCE INSURANCE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M
 
AVERRED – Began awkwardly.
 
DRACENA – Raced wide during the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HELLO LOVELY – Laid in during the early stages of the home straight.
 
LIPAROTA – Crowded and lost ground shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. Laid in during the early stages of the home straight.
 
LOVE 'N' ROCKETS – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
PETITE PALACE – Jockey J. Stanley reported that his mount over raced during the event and added that in his opinion the filly did not run out the 1200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a very poor recovery. Trainer M. Morrison was advised PETITE PALACE would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
MISTER TUDOR – Shifted out after the start.
 
BITTEN BY A PRINCE – As Jockey M. Rodd was overweight, he was subsequently replaced by Jockey D. Thornton. Jockey M. Rodd was reprimanded pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MONONYM – When placed under pressure near the 500m, commenced to race greenly. Raced in restricted room near the 100m.
 
ROTHELLY – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
Race 5: IPSWICH PARTY HIRE OPEN HANDICAP 1100 M
 
AT WITZ END – Began awkwardly.
 
SINAWANN (IRE) – Over raced during the early stages. Trainer T. Sears was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time.
 
HARDWARE LANE – Near the 250m, attempted to improve to the outside of SINAWANN but was unable to do so when LIGHT OF BOOM held its racing line. Disappointed for a run approaching the 100m between SINAWANN and OVIDIUS and was obliged to shift out.
 
KOTE – Laid out approaching the home turn. Jockey D. Thornton reported that in his opinion the gelding may appreciate a softer track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to its near hindleg.
 
LIGHT OF BOOM – Near the 1000m, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of SINAWANN. Improved onto heels near the 400m.
 
VOULAIT – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 6: RED BULL AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1690 M
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 7 minutes when WOWIT’S WILLYWONKA stumbled and dislodged Apprentice T. Fenlon upon entering the track and galloped riderless a number of circuits of the track before being recaptured. WOWIT’S WILLYWONKA was declared a late scratching at 3:55pm on veterinary advice. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on WOWIT’S WILLYWONKA be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st – MASTER COPY 7c win, 9c place
2nd – PRADO 7c place
3rd – TEXAS (NZ) 9c place
 
TEXAS (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Held up from the 400m up until the 150m.
 
NEW MAHER – Apprentice J. Franklin reported his mount over raced early, proved difficult to settle and in his opinion, this had a detrimental effect on the finishing effort.
 
EVOCATOR – Slow to begin.
 
GRINZINGER KNIGHT – Approaching the 150m, momentarily steadied when KAIROS LOUIE (NZ) shifted in. Apprentice B. Wheeler was advised to stop and straighten his mount in future circumstances.
 
MASTER COPY (IRE) – Began awkwardly. Shifted in under pressure over the final 100m.
 
KAIROS LOUIE (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
TWISTED MISTRESS – Laid in during the early stages of the home straight. Raced in restricted room over the final 150m.
 
TAMBOURINE MAN – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey M. Rodd reported his mount raced keenly throughout and proved disappointing in its finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
Race 7: GORDON'S GIN CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1690 M

JUNGLE PRINCE (NZ) – Apprentice J. Franklin reported his mount had a tendency to hang out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its off foreleg. Co Trainer M. Sears was advised JUNGLE PRINCE (NZ) would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
ZINOTAR (NZ) – Inconvenienced and carried wider rounding the home turn. Jockey J. Orman stated his mount travelled well throughout but was one paced in its finishing effort. He also reported that in his opinion the gelding may have come to end of its preparation. Trainer D. Vandyke stated that it was now their likely intention to send the gelding for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
FOURANDAHALF – Raced wide during the early stages. Lost its near fore and near hind plates.
 
MOONSHINE RUN – Hung out rounding the home turn. Apprentice B. Wheeler reported his mount had a tendency to hang out, particularly in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer N. Beck was advised MOONSHINE RUN would be required to jump out or trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
NITROGEN – Began awkwardly.
 
DANNY'S BOY – Raced wide throughout.
 
FORT DENISON – Began awkwardly.
 
SUNBEAM LEGEND – Approaching the 1400m when racing keenly and awkwardly placed at the heels of BLUEPRINT, had to be steadied for a number of strides.
 
MAKE HASTE – Slow to begin.
 
FLASH PRINCE – Began awkwardly.
 
ADELAIDE'S LACE – Raced keenly during the early stages.
 
Race 8:  BARRIER REEF POOLS CLASS 3 HANDICAP         1350 M
 
SUPER QUICK – Raced wide throughout.
 
WEST CORK – Jockey M. Rodd reported his mount didn’t show its usual early speed and took longer than anticipated to secure a forward position, and in his opinion raced flat. Lost near hind plate.
 
DON'T DISS AROUND – Hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority. Laid out during the home straight.
 
ARAMINTA – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
ISLE ORNSAY – Passing the 50m had to be momentarily eased when awkwardly placed between ARAMINTA and DON’T DISS AROUND which shifted ground.
 
SHAPIN POWER – Jockey A. Allen reported at scale that he felt that the mare was not entirely comfortable in its hind action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its near hindleg. Trainer A. Plumb was advised SHAPIN POWER would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
NO MORE RED – Began awkwardly.
 
CHANCE WITH WOLVES – Shifted out abruptly and bumped DON’T DISS AROUND.
 
DOWN THE BARREL – Slow to begin.
 
Race 9: IMPERIAL RACING BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
DAMO DAYZ – Laid in shortly after entering the home straight before being corrected by its rider.
 
SISTINE EXPLORER – Apprentice J. Franklin reported his mount proved disappointing and failed to let down as expected. Trainer J. Smerdon was also disappointed in the mare’s performance and would report back in the days subsequent if anything was to come to light.
 
KEMI ZABI – Bumped after the start. Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced rounding the home turn when taken wider by INLANDA.
 
TWYFORD – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced rounding the home turn when taken wider by INLANDA.
 
EXTESSIVE – Held up rounding the home turn and for the majority of the home straight.
 
TARPS – Bumped after the start. Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m.
 
IMARICHGIRL (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Shortly after entering the home straight, shifted out and away from RED RED WINE
 
RED RED WINE – Slow to begin. Became awkwardly placed at the heels of DAMO DAYZ on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift outwards.
 
NETTLES – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
INLANDA – Raced wide throughout. Jockey A. Jones reported shortly after being crossed by KAVAK and when attempting to steady her mount, the mare commenced to hang out from the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer M. Currie was advised INLANDA would require a satisfactory trial prior to resuming.
