Due to predicted sultry weather conditions this race meeting was conducted within the provisions of the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission Caring for Racing Animals in Extreme Heat Policy.
 
Race 1: SHANE GABBERT CONSTRUCTIONS QTIS Maiden Plate – 1100m
SCOTTABEE – Hung out leaving 1000m and had to be checked from heels near the 800m.
MY MIND IS MADE UP – Began awkwardly and raced wide for the majority of the race.
NITRO CITY – Raced wide the majority of race.
POWER ‘N’ DESIGN – Was declared a late scratching at 1.22pm by order of stewards  acting on veterinary advice who reported the horse was sore in the near fore leg. On the announcement of correct weight all monies were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 21 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 17 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable on bets made prior to 1.22pm. Trainer K. Krogh was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance for the mare prior to its next start.  
 
STRADIFY – Was a late scratching at 1.28pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice who reported the horse to be lame in off fore leg. On the announcement of correct weight all bets were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 20 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 16 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable on bets made between 1.22pm and 1.28pm. Trainer T. Parry was advised she must provide a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to its next start.  
Race 2: AUZSCOT CIVIL Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1100m
ENCORONADA – Fractious in barriers prior to the start and began awkwardly.
BELIEVE IT OR NOT – Raced wide for the majority of race.
BORN TO FIRE – Raced wide for the majority of race.
ROTHSTEIN – Raced wide for the majority of race.
Race 3: BOOTH PASTORAL Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1100m
HUNTING – Jockey T. Brummell made application on returning to scale for the mare to be declared a non-runner, after viewing the footage it was established the horse had its head in the adjoining barrier for a period of time and was not afforded a fair start and as such was declared a non-runner with the following deductions applicable on the announcement of correct weight, 10c in the dollar on the face value of all win and place bets.
TOUCAN – Correct weight was delayed when jockey J. Barbarovich requested to view the patrol footage to determine whether he had grounds for objection against the winner (WHO AM I) and second placed (SIRTIME) alleging interference near the 800m. After viewing all available angles jockey J. Babarovich decided not to proceed with the objection and correct weight was declared. Raced tight and eased at the 800m to obtain a position closer to the fence.
CARRY TO GOLD – Slow into stride.
SIRTIME – Raced wide for majority of the race.
AMBER’S GIRL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 4: JOHNSON GRADER HIRE Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1100m
SAFDIE – Raced 3 wide for the majority of the race.
ACE LIGHTNING – Jumped inwards at the start brushing another runner.
WICKED WIKI – Brushed by another runner upon jumping.
UMGENI – Fractious in barrier prior to the start and was slow to begin.
WORLD OF PAIN – Slow into stride.
 
Race 5: TOP PUB –COREY GILBY MEMORIAL– Ratings Band 0 – 60 Handicap – 1350m
ADMIRAL RUFF – Raced wide for the majority of race.
ECHELON ROSE – Raced wide for the majority of race.
DENLAGO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
The barriers of INNER SILENCE (3) and SENSEOFWONDER (8) were marginally slow to open and this was brought to the attention of starter D. Jones.
 
Race 6: MCKINLAY SHIRE COUNCIL – Julia Creek Cup Open Handicap – 1350m
HOW BIG’S THE HOLE – Shifted out near the 800m tightening runners to the outside
WICKED INVESTMENT – Raced ungenerously for a short distance nearing the 800m when forced wider by another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 MANDALONG PASS – Was restrained near the 800m when inconvenienced by another runner which was racing ungenerously and then shifted out causing another runner to be checked, raced wide for the majority of the race.
DIURNAL TIGER – Was tightened for room and checked near the 800m and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
DEADLY CHOICES – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
