GENERAL
Due to predicted sultry weather conditions, this race meeting was conducted within the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission Caring For Racing Animals In Extreme Heat Policy.
 
 
Race 1: TOWNSVILLE EARTH MOVING QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1100 metres
 
MISHANI DUDE – Commenced to buck when travelling to the barriers. Trainer Miss S Royes was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings prerace behavior. Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner. Commenced to hang out when rounding the first turn near the 800m inconveniencing a runner to the outside. Trainer Miss S Royes was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners.
 
ISIS TURBO – Was bumped by another runner which shifted out on jumping.
 
SUNNY EKCELS – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Near the 800m was inconvenienced when a runner to the inside commenced to hang out.
 
GRANMA – Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
 
Race 2: BOOTH RURAL COREY GILBY MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1100 metres
 
MONICA ROOM – Reluctant to load. Trainer Miss T Parry was advised that a warning would be placed on the mares barrier manners.
 
COSTA ROYALE – Reluctant to load. Trainer K Krogh was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners. Raced wide for the majority. Upon returning to the enclosure Jockey J Babarovich advised that he had been struck in the face by a rock during the race and sustained cuts to mouth and nose. Jockey Babarovich was subsequently assessed Queensland Ambulance Officers and declared himself fit to continue.
 
OR ELSE – Bumped with a runner to the outside on jumping.
 
ROCKETHEAD – Bumped with a runner to the inside on jumping.
 
DIXIE ROGUE – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.
 
GIGASTAR – Near the 200m shifted out and around the heels a runner to the outside to obtain clear running.
 
BONNY’S TREASURE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
 
Race 3: JULIA CREEK HOTEL MACEY FEGAN 21st BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 metres
 
KING LANDON – Shifted out on jumping bumping with a runner to the outside.
 
BOLD SAM – Missed the start losing significant ground. Disappointed for clear running near the 200m when a runner to the inside shifted out marginally and a runner to the outside shifted in marginally resulting in Jockey J Babarovich having to restrain.
 
DUNNERS – Shifted out marginally under pressure near the 200m resulting in a runner to the outside which was attempting to improve into a tight run having to be restrained.
 
SHIVKHANI – Shifted in marginally under pressure near the 200m resulting in a runner to the inside which was attempting to improve into a tight run having to be restrained.
 
 
 
Race 4: TEDDY PARRY MEMORIAL JULIA CREEK CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1350 metres
 
DUKES COUNTY – Raced wide for the majority.
 
GRAND SYMPOHNY – Commenced to shift out under pressure passing the 200m.
 
MR TINDALL – Unable to obtain clear running for a short distance near the 200m. Shifted its off fore plate in the running.
 
 
 
Race 5: TANYA JOHNSON MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1350 metres
 
MYOLA MILLY – Shifted in abruptly on jumping severely hampering a runner to the inside. On returning to scale Jockey K Ballard advised Stewards that his right foot had made heady contact with the barrier partition upon exiting the barriers. Jockey Ballard was subsequently examined by Queensland Ambulance Officers and found to have sustained soft tissue damage to his right foot.
 
WOTS WONG – Severely hampered on jumping losing significant ground when a runner to the outside shifted in abruptly on jumping.
 
MY BOY SOOTY – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
 
SILENTUS – Raced wide for the majority.
