QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT JULIA CREEK RACE CLUB JULIA CREEK – SATURDAY 22 July 2023 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Dirt RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – S CoulthardStewards – P WarrenClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – B. ClimieVeterinarian – Ms. V Slack-SmithStarter – C FitchettGENERAL As Jockey J Baker was not riding at today’s meeting due to illness, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards race-day summary. Jockey Baker was advised he would require a medical certificate prior to again being permitted to race again. Stewards permitted the following weight variation at today’s meeting:Race 1. D Ballard +2.5kg – No other rider available. Race 1: DIRT N DUST MAIDEN PLATE 2-Y-O & Up (1200m) Declaration of correct weight was delayed allowing stewards and the riders A Bakos (COLONEL VON TRAPP), K Ballard (ORCUS) to view the photo finish for 2nd and 3rd placing, after viewing the official photo finish image correct weight was given on the judges semaphored numbers. GULF OF AQABA- Made contact with the running rail enroute to barriers and was checked by the on course veterinarian behind the barriers and was cleared to start. Raced wide for the majority. COLONEL VON TRAPP- Raced wide for the majority. ORCUS- Shifted out on jumping. SINGLE MALT- Jockey J Baker was replaced by D Ballard. Crowded for room on jumping. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance Trainer T Parry was of the opinion that the gelding appreciated the longer distance and jumped well settling in a forward position. SENKO- Jumped in marginally at the start crowing runners to its inside. DON’TSTOPLAUGHING- Raced wide for the majority. Race 2: SEDAN DIP QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1200m) ALL AT SEA- Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages. MISTAKEN IDENTITY- Slow to begin, rider A Bakos reported that her saddle slipped soon after the start placing her at a disadvantage throughout the race. DOMINANT ROSE- Slow into stride, raced wide throughout. Race 3:SAXBY ROUND UP & JULIA CREEK CAMPDRAFT OPEN HANDICAP (1100m) CATO- Shifted out soon after the start hampering DARK ARCHER. Raced wide throughout. DARK ARCHER- Began awkwardly bumping LOUIE THE LEGEND. Hampered shortly after the start by CATO. LOUIE THE LEGEND- Bumped on jumping. Laid in over the concluding stages. Race 4: MCKINLAY RACE CLUB BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP (1350m) RUSTY ROSE- Began awkwardly. Jockey J Hoopert was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted, prior to the 100m. SIZZLESUN- Slow to begin, raced wide rounding the home turn. Race 5: JULIA CREEK CSA BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (1350m) ONTHETAKE- Slow to begin. SIZZLING SONATA- Crowded on jumping by MOPAR. Raced wide throughout. DANAWI- After beginning on terms with the field failed to muster sufficient speed to maintain its position and subsequently trailed the field throughout. MOPAR- Shifted in on jumping crowding SIZZLING SONATA.
