Race 1: Lionel Richards QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
STRAWBERRY RUNNER -  Slow to begin. Apprentice B. Stower reported that leaving the 600m the filly raced greenly and was placed awkwardly at heels and she was forced to restrain, losing  momentum at this stage.  From this point onwards her mount continued to race  greenly and over the concluding stages had to be again steadied from heels.
 
BRAZZA MATAZZ – Slow to begin.
 
SILENT FLYER – Hung out for the majority of the race. Trainer L. Stratton was advised that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
 
MAKE NO MISTAKE – Raced 3 wide throughout. Forced wide passing the 400m. over the concluding stages raced greenly and was inclined to lay in proving difficult to ride to the finish.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 2:   Boyd Laycock Maiden Plate – 1060m
 
CAESAR’S SECRET – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
HOOKED A BEAUTY – Bumped at start.
 
ROCKY NUGGET – Blundered on jumping away. Jockey S. Drake dropped her nearside rein, which resulted in her being impeded in riding her mount out to the line.
 
IMPERIOUS ROSE – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
GOLOVKIN – Tightened for room and lost ground at the start .
 
COOLUMUNDA – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced wide throughout. Jockey W. O’Connell reported that the filly raced greenly throughout and was difficult to steer around the tight turning track. Jockey O’Connell suggested to connections to try experimenting with a different bridle and bit.
 
PUNTA – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
KINGSMITH FLYER – Hampered between runners on jumping away.
 
LUCKY’S LIL GIRL – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced wide throughout.
 
DANYSUS – A post race veterinary examination of the horse revealed it to be making an abnormal respiratory noise, which a previous veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be a Grade 4 roarer.  Trainer Mr J. Devine was advised that the horse would be restricted to non-TAB venues over shorter distances less than 1000m.
 
Following this event due to the deterioration of the track stewards downgraded it to Soft 5.
 
 
Race 3: Get Well Ben Saunders Class 1 H'cap  - 1060m
 
CLANDESTINE AFFAIR – Declared a late scratching at 11.40 am after being injured in its float en route to the track.
 
AGENT ALBERT – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
DREAMER’S GOAL – Slow to begin.
 
LIVERPOOL JANE – Jockey Bradley Appo, rider of NOT A BAD JOKER, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of LIVERPOOL JANE, which  was forced in on to TO BE KING, which was checked and lost ground.  Jockey Appo was suspended from riding in races for a period of 13 days, to commenced at midnight, 21 May and to expire at midnight, 3 June. Had to be steadied from heels near the 700m. Jockey M. Gray, rider of RAINBOW SPIRIT, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
EREBOR – Hampered between runners on jumping away and lost ground.
 
TO BE KING – Inclined to lay in in the home straight and over the concluding stages was held up and unable to be fully tested by its rider.
 
KAIZARI -  Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 4:  Kilcoy Exchange Hotel BenchMark 58 H'cap – 800m
 
TOECANARGIE MAN – Bumped heavily and became unbalanced on jumping away.
 
ARGYLL BAY – Bumped on jumping away. Made the home turn awkwardly. Jockey R. Plumb reported that the gelding performance today was disappointing.
 
JEPTOO – Raced wide rounding the home turn. Apprentice H. Phillips reported that her saddle  and proved difficult to ride out over the concluding stages.
 
WHATEVER MISS – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 5:  Get Well Wade Clasholm BenchMark 55 H'cap – 1900m
 
PROSPECTING – Became fractious in the gates and was slow to begin. Overraced and made the first turn awkwardly.  Raced wide in the early stages until improving near the 1200m to obtain the lead.
 
SLALOM – Slow to begin.
 
DATUK ZADRAGON – Overraced and made the first turn awkwardly and had to be steadied from heels on a number of occasions throughout the event.  Jockey J. Taylor recommended to connections to remove the blinkers from the gear on the horse for its next race start.
 
MARLAHN – Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 400m. Jockey L. Tilley reported that the gelding was inclined to hang out for a majority of the race.
 
SPLENDID STRYKER – Jockey R. Plumb dropped his whip approaching the 100m.
 
MALT ‘N’ FURY – Raced 3 wide in the early stages.
 
LAKOTA SIOUX – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
 
Race 6:  Butler McDermott Lawyers Ratings Band 0-62 H'cap – 1500m
 
GENERAL ASSAULT – As R. Plumb was to be overweight, L. Tilley was substituted as the rider of the horse.  R. Plumb was fined $100. Raced wide throughout.
 
BROOKTON ICE – Began awkwardly.
 
LAREDO HUSSLER – Slow to begin.  Clipped heels and blundered near the 300m.
 
BO ROSSA – Began awkwardly and shifted out.  Raced keenly on heels near the 900m.
 
RED BOHEMIA – Bumped heavily on jumping away.
 
STROMBO – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 7:  Carlton-Mid BenchMark 58 H'cap – 1200m
 
BLUE STAR – Trainer B. Currie was fined $100 for failing to produce the registration papers for the horse.  Race wide throughout.  When questioned regarding the performance, jockey Beau Appo advised that his mount did not travel comfortably in today’s conditions and had a tendency to hang out throughout and therefore he did not apply any pressure to the gelding over the final 200m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
OUR JAMAICA – Examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the race and cleared to start.
 
O’SPACEHELLO – Slow to begin.
 
SNUGGLE POT – Raced wide throughout.
 
CHILLI BEACH – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
ZAPATA FALLS – Raced wide throughout.
