Carey _____________________________ Race 1: Kilcoy Diggers United Nations Peace Keepers Maiden Plate 800m GALLOPINAKIS As B. Appo was to be overweight, C. McIver was substituted as the rider of the horse. Jockey B. Appo was fined $200. LAST ROUND After being loaded into the barriers became fractious and attempted to get under the front gates and made contact with its head.. The gelding was removed from the barriers and examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Improved to the inside of COOL CHAOS approaching the 500m where there was restricted room and had to be checked away from heels and became unbalanced and made contact with the runner rail. Rounding the home turn was slightly hampered by COOL CHAOS, which shifted in marginally, and made contact with the running rail and then became unbalanced. WHITE TRUFFLES Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. RED MONKEY Blundered on jumping away and shifted out. Hung out rounding the home turn and continued to do so in the home straight. REINA DE HIELO Hampered on jumping away between runners. DREAM CAPTAIN Hampered on jumping away between runners. LITTLE ALBERT Had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn. Race 2: Carlton-Mid Somalia Benchmark 70 HHcap 1200m TINNS POCKET Reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Correct weight was delayed to enable stewards to view footage of the start to determine whetherr the horse was afforded a fair start, following which stewards were satisfied that the gelding had been.. Subsequently correct weight was semaphored on the Judgees placings.. After losing gronund at the start, the horse was ridden forward 3 wide to obtain the lead near the 900m. Had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn. KARFAHARAGA Trainer reported that the gelding may have it its head in its float en route to the track. Was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. After passing the 900m had to be steadied when tightened for room when TINNS POCKET shifted in. EARLSTOUN RULER Raced wide passing the 600m. AIR DIAMOND Held up for clear running from the 400m until a point approaching the 200m. > Race 3: Caloundrea RSL Sub Branch ADF Tri Service Class 1 HHcap 1200m DENLAGO Began awkwardly. ARTFUL SONG Bumped on jumping away. >Race 4: Bribie Island RSL Afghanistan Class 2 HHcap 1060m OUR JAMAICA When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey Beau Appo stated that his instructions were to go forward and obtain the lead if possible which is its normal racing pattern. He added that after travelling almost 300m he was unablee to cross ORLEANS, which was racing to its inside. After viewing the film, jockey Appo in hindsight felt it may have been more advantageous for him to take hold of his mount and sit outside ORLEANS without pressuring it, which may give the mare a better chance of finishing the race off. Stewards agreed with jockey Appoos comments and noted his explanation. Race 5: Butler McDermott Lawyers Vietnam Veterans Cup Benchmark 55 HHcap 1900m >NOVAATIVE Slow to begin. SLALOM Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 600m until rounding the home turn.. When questioned, jockey M. Gray stated that his instructions were to ride the gelding back in the field, which he did, and at a point after passing the 600m felt his mount was not travelling well enough at this stage to be shifted wider on the track and go around runners forward of him. He added that he elected to remain where he positioned and look for runs as they became available.. He further stated that approaching the 300m horses were tiring forward of him and a run had not presented itself to improve until rounding the home turn, at which stage the gelding finished the race off fairly. Stewards noted his explanation.SINGARAJA Hampered on jumping away. Race 6: Kilcoy RSL SubBranch IRAQ Benchamark 55 HHcap 1500m >DALRYMPLE Declared a late scratching at 11.40 am after the trainer reported that the horse became cast in its box. SHEER PERSISTENCE Trainer N. McCall was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. LEGS UNBARRED As apprentice S. Lacyys arrival on course was delayed after riding at another venue, apprentice R. Johnston-Bell was substituted as the rider of the horse. SHEER PERSISTENCE Hampered between runners on jumping away. OUR CLARKY After passing the winning post on the first occasion had to be steadied away from heels when awkwardly placed.. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. SHINING BROOKE Shifted wider on the track and raced wide from the 600m. DODGE THE PRESS - Some publications had Beau Appo as the rider of the gelding when in fact B. Grylls was the declared rider.
