MISHANI SEEKA – Began awkwardly.

HOLLYDEEN – Had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GLITTER TOP, which shifted in under pressure approaching the winning post. Apprentice J. Murphy, rider of GLITTER TOP,  was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

DAVE’S VALOR –  When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, apprentice T. Williams stated that the mare failed to travel comfortably throughout the event and blundered badly near the 200m.  She added, in her opinion, the mare did not handle the soft track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

BEL SELEVA – Apprentice H. English reported at scale her mount hung out throughout the event. She added that this could be attributed to the mare having its first start in the clockwise direction and would take a benefit from today’s performance.

DUTCH GAL – A post race veterinary examination of the horse revealed the mare to be suffering from heat stress.

Race 3: Butler McDermott Lawyers CG&E Benchmark 65 H’cap – 1060m

CANID – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be showing signs of tying up.

MISS BENETEAU – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Hampered and forced wider approaching the 800m.  Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

CHINCH – Hampered at the start and tightened for room. Raced wide throughout. Jockey M. Hellyer reported he was disappointed in the overall performance and indicated after being slow to begin the horse did muster some speed and travelled comfortably until the 500m, however was under pressure from that point onwards and was very disappointing, and was unable to offer any explanation for the performance.  Trainer S.Kendrick expressed his disappointment in the performance, adding that it was now most likely that the mare would be retired from his stable. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than saliva in the trachea.

SHEQER CROI – Slow to begin.

DALES LUCK – Buffetted between runners at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

STORM ANCHOR – Jumped away awkwardly.

ALL OUR WIVES – Bumped by another runner on jumping away.

COALBANK CAVIAR – Hung out from the 500m until entering the home straight.

Apprentice H. Phillips, rider of ASK AUDREY, pleaded guilty to a  charge of careless riding, in that she permitted her mount to shift in after passing the winning post when insufficiently clear of LAST ROUND, resulting in that horse being checked to avoid the heels of ASK AUDREY.   Apprentice Phillips was suspended from riding in races for a period covered of 11 days, to commence at midnight, 18 October and to expire midnight, 29 October.

Race 7: Ian McCauley OAM Benchmark 58 H’cap – 1900m
