QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT KILCOY RACE CLUB – MONDAY 22 JUNE 2020 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – HEAVY 8 RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – L. HicksStewards – D. Thornton was not riding due to illness, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 1: TAB QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1060M Trainer M. Boland was fined $100 for failing to declare apprentice M. Savva as the rider of DREAM CANDY by the prescribed time. The start of this race was delayed when DREAM CANDY was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer M. Boland was advised that a warning will be placed on the filly’s pre-race manners. CITY DIVA – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. Improved on to the heels of the weakening DREAM CANDY approaching the 50m, was shifted wider and as a result became awkward at the heels of the tiring TAN DINH and again was shifted wider to obtain clear running. COFFEE COMING – Bumped rounding the home turn when LUNA AMANTE shifted out. DREAM CANDY – Shifted in shortly after the start, hampering PERFECT ANGEL. LUNA AMANTE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out. Held up rounding the home turn, shifted out and made contact with COFFEE COMING. MADE OF MONEY – Raced greenly throughout. Laid in in the home straight. PERFECT ANGEL – Checked and lost ground shortly after the start between LUNA AMANTE, which shifted out, and DREAM CANDY, which shifted in. Race 2: SOMERSET REGIONAL COUNCIL MAIDEN H'CAP – 1900M CAPTAIN DONOVAN – Tightened between DOMINICA ROSE and STARRY BEAUTY shortly after the start and lost ground. Made the crossing awkwardly and became momentarily unbalanced. WHY WOULDN’T YOU – Began awkwardly. RED POET – Had to be steadied approaching the 1500m when placed in restricted room to the inside of PADDLEPOP, which shifted in momentarily. W. O’Connell, the rider of PADDLEPOP, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift ground. Raced three wide throughout. CAIRNDOW – Laid in up the straight. DOMINICA ROSE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out. MISTA LONGHORN – After beginning well, rider J. Murphy elected to allow his mount to stride forward and take up the position outside the leader. PADDLEPOP – Shifted in approaching the 1500m and inconvenienced another runner and then raced wide throughout. STARRY BEAUTY – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in. Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN PLATE – 1500M The start of this race was delayed when CAIRNSY proved difficult to load. ETHEREUM – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Improved on to the heels of THE GOOD THE BAD leaving the 900m and had to be steadied. OAKFIELD TICKETS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore shoulder. Connections were advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next start. THE GOOD THE BAD – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. Raced wide until a point approaching the 800m. DAUNTING ADVENTURE – Began awkwardly. Commenced to overrace whilst being restrained from the heels of OAKFIELD TICKETS, which shifted in to obtain the lead passing the winning post on the first occasion. Jockey S. Lacy, the rider of OAKFIELD TICKETS, was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground. Race 4: SEARLE GARDEN PRODUCTS BENCHMARK 55 H'CAP – 1500M Trainer S. Parsons was fined $100 for failing to declare T. Marshall as the rider of PRUNDA by the prescribed time. TAINTED AFFAIR – Commenced to overrace for a short distance whilst being restrained passing the post on the first occasion. Weakened noticeably from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. LEGS UNBARRED – A. Fancourt advised that the mare failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure and may not have handled today’s heavy going. COLONEL KLINK – Lost ground shortly after the start when tightened between CELTIC TIGER, which shifted out, and MODERN FAMILY, which shifted in. MODERN FAMILY – Shifted in slightly shortly after the start. HEEBEE RIGHT MATE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and raced wide for the majority of the event. GET OUTA UTAH – Slow to begin. Blundered shortly after the start and lost ground. CELTIC TIGER – Shifted out slightly shortly after the start. Race 5: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS BENCHMARK 58 H'CAP – 1200M Trainer B. Hull was fined $200 for failing to declare apprentice A. Patis as the rider of COMMANDEERING by the prescribed time. COMMANDEERING – Raced four wide without cover throughout. When questioned, apprentice A. Patis stated that after being caught wide, the gelding failed to respond to her riding from the 400m and may not have handled today’s heavy going. HAVASHOUT – Raced greenly throughout. Laid in momentarily approaching the 400m, tightening TEQUILA BOOM, and then shifted out and inconvenienced IMPLACABLE, which had to be steadied. Laid in in the home straight, making contact with the running rail. REAL ELUSIVE – Jumped away awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and lost considerable ground. CLICKETY CLICKS – Commenced to overrace for a short distance approaching the 800m. INSTABEATS – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. DUELLATOR – Raced three wide with cover throughout. TEQUILA BOOM – Had to be steadied approaching the 400m when placed in restricted room to the inside of HAVASHOUT, which shifted in momentarily. Race 6: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1060M EXCEED ROCK – Shifted out marginally rounding the home turn and bumped LEICA FIRECRACKER. Stewards questioned apprentice B. Nothdurft regarding the performance. He advised that he was unable to ease the tempo whilst leading when LEICA FIRECRACKER placed pressure on his mount and after bumping with that runner rounding the home turn his mount failed to respond to his riding from that point. He felt the work his mount did in the early stages had a bearing on the way in which it finished over the concluding stages, adding that it may not have handled the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings other than a minor abrasion to the near fore fetlock. Apprentice Nothdurft was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race. QUEEN OF THE NIGHT – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Laid in under pressure approaching the 100m. Bumped over the concluding stages by DE VEGA PEACH, which laid in under pressure. K. Gates, the rider of DE VEGA PEACH, was reminded of her obligations when allowing her mounts to shift ground. DE VEGA PEACH – Raced wide with cover. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages and bumped QUEEN OF THE NIGHT. K. Gates was reminded of her obligations regarding the use of the whip. LEICA FIRECRACKER – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Bumped rounding the home turn. MISS HONEYFLOW – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost significant ground. Trainer S. Parsons was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare. MISSLLEERS – E. Ljung was reminded of her obligations regarding the use of the whip. Race 7: KEEPING THE SPIRIT ALIVE BENCHMARK 55 H'CAP NIATROSS – Dipped approaching the 300m. MOSS GO NOW – J. Taylor was reminded of his obligations regarding the use of the whip. GREY TOP – Forced wider approaching the home turn. SID – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. POLE VOLTER – Overraced whilst being restrained at the 1600m and had to be steadied. SHIVAJI – Put in an awkward stride approaching the 300m and shortly after shifted out, forcing GREY TOP wider. PARIS CRYSTAL – Had to be steadied shortly after the start when tightened between AIRLIE MAN, which shifted out, and NIATROSS which shifted in. Raced wide throughout. SUCH A DRAMA QUEEN – Stewards questioned L. Tilley regarding the tactics adopted in today’s event. Jockey Tilley reported that he was instructed to go forward from the barriers, which was in contrast to the horse’s most recent racing pattern where at its previous start the mare began awkwardly, resulting in it being further back in the field than anticipated.
