QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT KILCOY RACE CLUB KILCOY – SUNDAY 8 AUGUST 2021 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Soft 5 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – L Hicks Stewards – P Zimmermann, T North & C Fedrick Clerk of Scales – M Winwood Judge – I Schultz Veterinarian – Dr Dr S McGinnisSwab Attendants – J Pedofsky Starter – K Watson GENERAL As K Gates was not riding due to personal reasons, replacements were made as per the race day summary. As M McGillivray was not riding due to injury, he was replaced as per the race day summary. Race 1: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS VIETNAM VETERANS CUP BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1900 metres FELZONE – Trainer G Richardson reported that the gelding had bled from both nostrils for the first time. Mr Richardson was advised that the horse would incur a 3 month ban from racing and must undertake a 1000m gallop to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again. AR79(4). ROYALSPECTOR – Near the 400m was steadied whilst racing in restricted room. SEARING SPEED – Slow to begin. Forced wider rounding the home turn. BARTALUMBA – Passing the winning post on the first occasion had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FELZONE (App Z Sprie) which shifted in momentarily. App Z Sprie was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. BLACKCURRANT – Raced three wide in the early stages. GO MILLO - Near the 400m was steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of ROYALSPECTOR which shifted in momentarily. Over the concluding stages raced in restricted room and was unable to be fully tested. CHIEF COMMAND – Raced wide in the early stages. Rounding the home turn had to be steadied when tightened for room between BLACKCURRANT which shifted in marginally and ROYALSPECTOR (App J Cornish) which shifted out to improve. App J Cornish was subsequently reprimanded under AR131(a). Rider A Fancourt dropped her whip near 150m. WINDUPGIRL – Stewards permitted rider V Venkaya to ride the mare one kilogram over its declared weight of 54kgs. Slow to begin. Forced wider rounding the home tun. Race 2: CALOUNDRA RSL SUB BRANCH RWANDA VETERANS Class 3 Handicap 1500 metres EXTREME JEWEL – Slow to begin. STRYKING EMERALD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide in the early and middle stages before obtaining a position with cover near the 700m. SPURIOUS - Stewards permitted rider C Meehan to ride the gelding a kilogram over its declared weight of 54kgs. Rider C Meehan was reminded of his obligation to ensure that his whip action is not raised above shoulder height. (AR132(6)(b). RISALDAR – Raced wide in the early stages. Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainer J Durston regarding the late declaration of N Thomas as the rider. ANIMAL INSTINCT - Stewards permitted rider B Newport to ride the gelding half a kilogram over its declared weight of 54kgs. SWING SHIFT – Slow to begin. TYCOON PLAYER – Over-raced in the early stages. Approaching the 1200m made the crossing awkwardly and shifted out to avoid heels. Race 3: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL AUSTRALIAN VETERAN FAMILIES BENCHMARK 58 Handica 1050 metres GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS became fractious behind the barriers, rider C Eaton was dislodged and as a result was unable to fulfill her riding engagement due to injury. GLENBAWNS DUTCHESS was subsequently declared a late scratching at 12:46pm and all monies invested were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 12:46pm:3 cents in the dollar for the win - HEART VANDELAY4 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - HEART VANDELAY4 cents in the dollar for 2nd place – BLACK SEA4 cents in the dollar for 3rd place - COSSIE C Eaton was subsequently stood down from her remaining engagement after being examined by the QAS. C Eaton was advised that a medical clearance would be required prior to riding again. Correct weight was delayed when the 2nd placegetter, Jockey A Thompson requested to view the patrol films to ascertain whether he had grounds to lodge a protest against the 1st placegetter HEART VANDELAY (J Murphy). After viewing the films, A Thompson advised that he did not wish to proceed with the protest. And Stewards declared correct weight on the Judges placings. BLACK SEA – Shifted in rounding the home turn and made contact with HEART VANDELAY. Rider A Thompson lost the use of his nearside rein and whip over the concluding stages. FAV'S FLYER – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 700m was forced wider by BEGS BELIEF which was racing ungenerously. COSSIE – Shifted out rounding the home turn and bumped with HEART VANDELAY. HEART VANDELAY – Rounding the home turn was inconvenienced when tightened between COSSIE which shifted out and BLACK SEA which shifted in. THE BUMBLEBEE – Raced wide throughout. CHAMPAGNE SPIRIT – Slow to begin. BEGS BELIEF – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Race 4: SEARLE FAMILY AFGHANISTAN VETERANS Maiden Handicap 1200 metres The start was delayed approximately 7 minutes when DELLVAK became fractious en-route to the barriers, dislodging its rider and travelling some distance before being recaptured. DELLVAK was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 1:32pm. All monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 1:32pm:19 cents in the dollar for the win – KESSEL RUN13 cents in the dollar for the place of winner – KESSEL RUN14 cents in the dollar for 2nd place – EMPIRE DAY21 cents in the dollar for 3rd place - SOLVUS UBER JET – Became fractious leaving the mounting enclosure making contact with the gate and as a result, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Near the 400m was steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of SOLVUS which shifted in momentarily and EMPIRE DAY which shifted out marginally. Trainer T Hurley reported that the gelding had bled from both nostrils for the second time. Mr Hurley was advised that as this is the second occasion on which the UBER JET has bled, it will now incur a lifetime ban from racing. AR79(6) KESSEL RUN – Stewards permitted rider B Stewart to ride the gelding one kilogram over its declared weight of 55.5kgs. EMPIRE DAY – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 1000m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of KESSEL RUN (B Stewart) which shifted in. Jockey B Stewart was subsequently reprimanded for careless riding (AR131(a). Rounding the home turn was momentarily inconvenienced when FAINTLY MACABRE laid in. SOLVUS – Approaching the finishing line improved onto heels and was steadied. Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer J Durston regarding the late declaration of N Thomas as the rider. FAINTLY MACABRE – Raced wide in the early stages. FLECKERL – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Rider S Bogenhuber dropped her whip near the 100m. MINAJ A STAR – Was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer S Barker was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners. Raced wide with cover throughout. POSEY COUNTY – Became fractious pre-race. Trainer B Ahrens was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced for the majority and made the home turn awkwardly. Race 5: TAB WESTERN SAHARA VETERANS Maiden Handicap 800 metres DAWN COLOURS was declared a late scratching at 12:27pm due to transport difficulties. BOO – Was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Stable representative J Miller was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners.TAORMINA MATCH – Began awkwardly. DREAM CHANCE – Became fractious en-route to the barriers and dislodged its rider. Shortly after the start commenced to race very ungenerously. Approaching the 500m and shifted in abruptly and made contact with the inside running rail, proving very difficult ride. Trainer J Aitkenhead was advised that DREAM CHANCE will be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. GIVEITAGO - Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground. INDEEP – Began awkwardly, made contact with the outside barrier partition and lost ground. Approaching the 100m improved onto the heels of COOL ESPRESSO and shifted in to improve.TEMPLE MISTRESS – Became fractious in the mounting enclosure dislodging its rider on a number of occasions. Trainer D Batters was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners. JENNEFICIAL – Over the concluding stages had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of INDEEP, which was taken in by COOL ESPRESSO which shifted in and away from BOO. Race 6: BRIBIE ISLAND RSL SUB BRANCH SOMALIA VETERANS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Hand 1200 metres I'M JACKO - Buffeted between runners on jumping. CLICKETY CLICKS – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Near the 900m was steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of CRAFTY AQUILA which shifted in and away from ACCUMULATED. Raced three wide throughout. CRAFTY AQUILA – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. FLICK – Held up for clear running from the 400m until a point entering the home straight.SISTINE AVENUE – Stewards permitted rider G Walters to ride the gelding one kilogram over its declared weight of 54.5kgs.
