GENERAL
 
Trainer Darryl Ward was fined $200 for failing to adhere to the provisions of LR36(6) with his dual acceptor Dublin De Quo.
 
Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Maiden Handicap 2076 metres
 
OCONEE (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages of the event before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 1100m.
 
KERMAKAYA – Slow to begin.
 
A FAIR SWEAR – Began awkwardly. Rider reported the filly had a tendency to lay out for the majority of the event.
 
ROYAL GEORGE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
COUNTY LOVE – Had a tendency to lay out for the majority of the event. Rider B Newport reported COUNTY LOVE was not suited by the tight turning track.
 
CROSBY ROAD – Change of tactics, less forward. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly.
 
ZOFF THE BOSS – From the wide barrier restrained shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
 Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 5.
 
Race 2: KILCOY AUSTRALIA DAY RACES QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 800 metres
 
DUBLIN DE QUO – Began awkwardly.
 
LEMON LOVER – Became awkwardly placed on heels approaching the home turn and was checked. When asked to comment on tactics adopted apprentice J Cornish stated after being slower than usual to begin, LEMON LOVER raced in a rearward position three wide with cover until approaching the home turn before electing to shift to the inside of GRACIEDE when that runner made the turn awkwardly. Apprentice Cornish added that after she elected to shift to the inside GRACIEDE was corrected by its rider and this resulted in LEMON LOVER becoming awkwardly placed on heels and having to check a short distance later. Stewards noted the explanation.    
 
GRANDEUR ROSE - Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
SHE'S SO VAIN – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 3: KILCOY GLOBAL FOODS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 800 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing N Thomas, rider of GLOBAL VENTURE, to view the start of the event. After doing so correct weight was declared on the semaphored placings.
 
SPIRIT ONE – Approaching the 400m raced in restricted room and bumped with ARARRAC.
 
REMEMBER MARY – Taken out shortly after the start by IMPLACABLE.
 
HIDDEN SPRING – Crowded shortly after the start, bumped with GLOBAL VENTURE and lost ground.
 
ATOUCHOFSYN – Approaching the home turn steadied from the heels of CLICKETY CLICKS. J. Cornish rider of CLICKETY CLICKS, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 Rider A Sewell reported the gelding was not suited by the tight turning track.
 
GLOBAL VENTURE – As L Tilley was delayed arriving on course, Stewards permitted N Thomas to ride the gelding. Crowded shortly after the start, bumped with HIDDEN SPRING and lost ground.
 
ARARRAC – Bumped on hindquarters near the 400m.
 
CLICKETY CLICKS – Raced wide throughout.
 
IMPLACABLE – Jumped out at the start. Steadied from heels approaching the finish line when REMEMBER MARY shifted in. E McPherson, rider of REMEMBER MARY, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
Race 4: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS CHRISTMAS GIFT BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1900 metres
 
CHERNO ALPHA – Bumped on jumping. Shifted in near the 1600m resulting in STAR CENTRE and KINGS ROW both being placed in restricted room for a short distance.
 
STAR CENTRE – Jumped out at the start and bumped CHERNO ALPHA. Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 1600m. Leaving the 1500m had to be steadied from heels and shifted out.
 
TRY TO BE GOOD – Slow to begin. Near the 1500m put in several awkward strides when being steadied. Steadied approaching the home turn when held up on the heels of the tiring RED MONKEY.
 
OWNED UP – Shied passing the winning post on the first occasion and shifted out. Steadied near the 300m when IN YOUR ELEMENT hung in.
 
SPURIOUS – Near the 1600m the saddle shifted to the nearside resulting in rider C Meehan becoming unbalanced and losing the use of both stirrup irons. As a result, SPURIOUIS took no competitive part in the event.
 
KINGS ROW – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 1600m.
 
BOLD DELAGO – Slow to begin. Hampered when racing to the inside of SPURIOUS near the 1200m.
 
RED MONKEY – Near the 300m steadied when racing to the inside of OWNED UP which was taken in by IN YOUR ELEMENT when inclined to hang in.  
 
 
Race 5: KILCOY BP DRIVEWAY AUSTRALIA DAY RACES Class 2 Handicap 1500 metres
 
COME IN SPINNER (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn and again near the 100m.
 
JOYFUL MISS – Raced three wide in the early stages. Bumped near the 1200m.
 
ALANTIC ROYAL – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
VLADKING – Blundered making the crossing at the 1200m.
 
WAIKATO – Steadied from the heels of VLADKING passing the 1200m. Rider R Jamieson reported after being unable to muster early speed the horse settled further back in the field than anticipated.
 
SISTINE AVENUE – Slow to begin.
 
SIZZLING BABE – Slow to begin. Made the crossing at the 1200m awkwardly, shifted out and bumped JOYFUL MISS.
 
Race 6: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL Fillies & Mares BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200 metres
 
On arrival at the barriers, and at the request of the rider, PETITE ELLE underwent a veterinary examination and was found to be lame in the off foreleg and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4:43pm on veterinary advice. AMOUR VOLE also underwent a veterinary examination prior to being loaded into the barriers and was declared a late scratching ay 4:46pm on veterinary advice after blood was present in the offside nostril.
 
On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on both PETITE ELLE and AMOUR VOLE be refunded in and the following deductions to apply:

W Nugent, trainer of AMOUR VOLE, was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate, including the results of a satisfactory endoscopic examination, prior to its next race start.
V Heading, trainer of PETITE ELLE, was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start.
 
TICINO BELLE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
PEACHES DREAM – Underwent a post-race veterinary after the rider reported that the mare may have held its breath. No abnormalities were reported by the veterinary official.
 
DYNAMIC JEWEL – Rider reported the horse was inclined to hang out for the majority of the event and was unable to be fully tested in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed
 
BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA – Blundered on jumping resulting in rider H Richardson being dislodged. Trainers’ representative for P Duff was advised BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
 
SUZY NEEDS LOVIN’ – Hung out rounding the home turn. At-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near fore fetlock. Trainer N Hemmings was advised the mare would require a veterinary examination prior to its next race start,
 
Race 7: SEARLES GARDEN PRODUCTS Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200 metres
 
RICHETTI - Crowded for room near the 1000m. Approaching the 100m obliged to check from heels when disappointed for a run to the inside of FRISCO’S IMAGE which shifted in under pressure. App M Philpot, rider of FRISCO’S IMAGE, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
FRISCO'S IMAGE – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
HEART VANDELAY – Near the 1000m crowded for room and had to steady when racing to the inside of RICHETTI which was taken in by POWERWOLF when that runner was crowded by KESSEL RUN which shifted in when not fully clear. J McGrath, rider of KESSEL RUN, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Held up for clear running until the entrance to the home straight.
 
POETIC CHOICE – Crowded for room between runners shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
DRATINI – Began awkwardly.
 
KESSEL RUN – Laid out shortly after the start.
 
PICCANNINI – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
POWERWOLF (NZ) – Crowded for room near the 1000m.
 
LOVE YA BLUE – Rider L Tilley reported in his opinion the gelding is better suited to races over a shorter distance than that of today.
