SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Ipswich Races 31/03/2022 Race 3: GLASHABEE

Trainer K. Deacon advised Stewards that following the disappointing performance of the gelding he had chiropractic work performed on GLASHABEE. He further added that the gelding had recovered well from the run and was of the opinion the gelding may have got its tongue back  when racing keenly in early stages of the event.

GENERAL

After receiving a report from the QRIC Integrity Investigations Team advising that THE WAITING MAN, trained by P. Sexton, was not currently domiciled at his stables despite his stable return indicating it was, Stewards order the withdrawal of the gelding from Race 5 at 8:20 am. An inquiry regarding this matter will be set at time and date to be confirmed.

Race 1: KILCOY DIGGERS/SEARLE GARDEN PRODUCTS QTIS 3-Y-O BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1500 metres

The start of the is race was significantly delayed a due to King Hammurabi becoming fractious after being loaded and the breaking through the front of the barriers and galloping riderless for a significant distance. On the announcement of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on KING HAMMURABI to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:

Jockey Zechner further added that the gelding was one paced and wasn’t suited when obliged to race in a rearward position. Stewards noted the explanation.

SPRIGGER – Raced wide in the early stages before working forward to the lead approaching the 1000m.

Race 5: AUSTRALIAN ARMY/SEARLE FAMILY BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 800 metres

The start of this event was delayed initially due to MR NODDY requiring a veterinary examination after becoming fractious in the barriers. The gelding was cleared to start by the veterinary official. The start was then further delayed after the starter advised that there was an issue with the starting mechanism requiring all horse to be unloaded and the barriers retested. Upon testing of the barriers, the starter was satisfied the issue had been resolved and proceeded with the event.

Correct weight was delayed as a result of both Jockey T. Banks and Apprentice Z. Sprie being dislodged shortly after completing the event. Both riders were accessed by the Queensland Ambulance Service officials and cleared to fulfil their remaining engagements. As a result of being dislodged, both T. Banks and Z. Sprie were unable to weigh in. Stewards acting under AR 208(3) were satisfied that both KENTFORD and HIDDEN GLADE had carried their allocated weight.

Prior to the announcement of correct weight, application was made by Apprentice E. MacPherson for her mount REMEMBER MARY to be declared a non-runner on the grounds that she was denied a fair start due to making contact with the barrier attendant’s leg on jumping which unbalanced her in the saddle and resulted in her losing use of her offside iron in the early stages of the race. Stewards denied her application as REMEMBER MARY was officially placed 4th by the judge and therefore could not be declared a non-runner pursuant to the conditions of AR 204 and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored.

REMEMBER MARY – Jumped awkwardly. Shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarters by GOD OF MISCHIEF and became unbalanced. A short distance later Apprentice E. MacPherson lost use of her offside stirrup iron before then losing the use of her nearside iron approaching the home turn resulting in Apprentice McPherson being unable to fully test her mount over the concluding stages.

KENTFORD - Jumped awkwardly. Shortly after the start had to be steadied from the heels and lost ground. Banks was accessed by Queensland Ambulance Service officials and was cleared of any injuries.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the filly being permitted to start again.

INDUCEMENT – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. Shifted in under riding at the 800m causing interference to inside runners. Jockey M. Butler pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for allowing his mount to shift in at the 800m when not fully clear of ZEELUCK, resulting in that runner being taken inwards, tightening the racing room of LA PETIRE MISSILE and BROCKY, resulting in both those runners having to be checked by their riders. Jockey M. Butler’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight the 10/04/2022 until midnight 19/04/2022. Jockey Butler was advised of his right to internal review.
