QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT KILCOY RACE CLUB SUNDAY 1 MAY 2022 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Heavy 10 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. AdamsStewards – P. Robinson was fined $200 for failing to notify a rider for his runner MASTER OF MENACE (NZ) engaged in Race 4 by the prescribed time. Rider M. Murphy was fined $100 pursuant to AR 128(1)(a) for failing to arrive on course by the prescribed time for his engagement in Race 4. As apprentice T. Townsend was injured Stewards permitted riding changes as per the race day summary. Stewards permitted the following over-weights:Race 1: J. Stanley + 0.5kgRace 2: M. Butler + 1kg Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 800 metres ILLICIATE AFFAIRS – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Dislodged a juvenile tooth during the event. BRAZETTI – Raced wide. KINKY DREAMS – Blundered on jumping. Race 2: THE GREAT NORTHERN KILCOY AUTUMN CUP BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1500 metres BUSHIDO – Shifted in on jumping. Rider A. Fancourt advised Stewards that the gelding travelled well until the 800m and but failed to respond to her urgings and was disappointing in its finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the minor presence of blood in both nostrils. After consultation with trainer J. Bellamy, Stewards advised him that BUSHIDO would be barred from racing pursuant to the conditions of AR 79(4) for a period of 3 months and must perform a satisfactory gallop in front of a Steward prior to being permitted to race again. BRYNEICH – Steadied from heels leaving the 1200m. MOUNTBATTEN – Taken inwards on jumping. Over-raced when being restrained at the 1200m and became unbalanced. Obliged to race in restricted room leaving the 300m when racing between Bushido and BRYNEICH which laid in under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. DREAM SONG – Hampered on jumping and lost ground. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. STELLAR – Shifted out on jumping. Race 3: BECHLYS TRANSPORT TROPHY Class 4 Handicap 1200 metres LEROYTHECONQUEROR – Upon application from trainer D. Batters Stewards permitted the gelding to race without a nose roll which was part of its advertised gear. Slow to begin. DEPTHS BELOW – Jumped awkwardly. Shifted out approaching the 900m. ALL STARS – Shifted in and had to be steadied from heels at the 1100m. EXPLOSIVE TRUTH – Forced wider approaching the 900m when DEPTHS BELOW shifted out. Raced wide from the 900m. Laid in under pressure leaving the 600m. Race 4: KILCOY CUP / KILCOY GIFT / PRINCESS OF KILCOY RACES SAT 4 JUNE Maiden 1200 metres The start of this race was slightly delayed owing to ROSE OF TAORMINA being resaddled upon arrival at the barriers. ROGER EXPRESS (NZ) – Shifted in shortly after the start and crowded the racing room of ROSE OF TAORMINA. MASTER OF MENACE (NZ) – Slow to begin. ROSE OF TAORMINA – Fractious before the start. Crowded shortly after the start and lost ground when ROGER EXPRESS (NZ) shifted in. Blundered after becoming momentarily unbalanced at the 800m turn. BRAZEN ZUMBA – Fractious before the start. Bumped on the hindquarters by ROSE OF TAORMINA shortly after the start. CELTIC PRIDE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to not having started for a significant period and was cleared to race. Jumped awkwardly. Race 5: THANKS KILCOY DIGGERS KEEPING THE SPIRIT ALIVE Maiden Handicap 1200 metres The start of this race was delayed approximately 6 minutes due to GODRA requiring re-plating after casting its off fore plate on route to the barriers. REUBEN'S DECREE – Shifted in under pressure over the final 100m causing HES’ VIRAL (NZ) to be placed in restricted room approaching the 50m. Rider H. Phillips was advised to stop and straighten her mounts earlier than she did on this occasion in future. GODRA – Shifted in approaching the 1000m causing tightening to inside runners. Apprentice D. McGillivray was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. SUMMER STAR – Jumped awkwardly. HE'S VIRAL (NZ) – Placed in restricted approaching the 50m when REUBEN’S DECREE shifted in under pressure. WAR WAGON – Obliged to race in restricted approaching the 1000m. MISS TAPESTRY – Reared at the start and struck its head on the top of the barriers and lost significant ground. Trainer P. Jenkins advised Stewards that the filly would be sent for a short spell and he would also experiment with gear changes prior to starting again. Stewards advised Mr Jenkins a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the filly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. STRATA KING – Held up over the final 50m when awkwardly placed at the heels of GODRA which shifted in under pressure. HOME OWNER – Slow to begin. SHEZANUISANCE - Jumped awkwardly. Obliged to race in restricted room approaching the 1000m. JUST LIKE RULER – Obliged to steady approaching the 1000m when GODRA shifted in when not fully clear. Race 6: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL FRED BROPHY BOXING 3 & 4 JUNE Class 2 Handicap 800 metres PHANTOM SPIRIT – Raced wide. THE WAITING MAN – Slow to begin. Rider S. Cormack reported that his horse failed to handle the heavy track conditions. COOL ESPRESSO – Raced wide.NAYTELLRHI BIRD – Raced wide. TIMELY REWARD – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Shifted in and away from THE WAITING MAN approaching the 400m when over racing and became unbalanced. Laid out rounding the home turn. Rider L. Miller reported to Stewards that his mount over-raced in the middle stages and became awkward at heels which resulted in the mare becoming unbalanced approaching the 400m.Race 7: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1900 metres BUIN ROAD – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start by RECALL EVENTS when that runner was taken out on jumping by WELL WELL WELL and was then taken outwards and bumped with TYRIAN. Race wide in the early stages. Apprentice J. Molloy reported his mount felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of the thumps.RAINS APLENTY – Jumped awkwardly.SAXON ROSE – Slow to muster speed in the early stages. ALLUDERE – Jumped awkwardly. WELL WELL WELL – Jumped outwards at the start and bumped RECALL EVENTS. JETT AUSTIN (NZ) – Raced wide until approaching the 1200m. TYRIAN – Bumped shortly after the start by BUIN ROAD. Gave ground from the 800m. LUNAR LUSTRE – Made the crossing awkwardly at the 1200m. Race 8: SEARLE GARDEN PRODUCTS BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres The start of this race was delayed approximately 2 minutes due to ALEXANDRA ROAD being reluctant to proceed to the barriers. A warning was placed on the gelding. HABIB – Obliged to steady and shift wider approaching the home turn when awkwardly placed at the heels of LOBURN LASS. LOBURN LASS – Raced wide in the early stages. Approaching the home turn was obliged to steady from the heels of DEVILLAIN which shifted out when not fully clear. C. Meehan the rider of DEVILLAIN was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Apprentice M. Castle advised the mare failed to handle the heavy track conditions. ALEXANDRA ROAD – Was reluctant to proceed to barriers causing the start to be delayed. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on the gelding. DEVILLAIN – Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. A BIG CHANCE – Blundered on jumping. Approaching the 1100m became awkwardly placed at heels and had to be steadied. FRISCO'S IMAGE – Rider N. Thomas reported the gelding hung in for the majority. FLICK – Bumped on jumping. INDUCEMENT – Slow to muster speed at the start. TAHLAYLA – Rider C.
