GENERAL

Race 1: THANK YOUTHE BEAVIS & BARTELS FAMILIES Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
Chain Of Fire – Raced wide without cover and hung out throughout, placing its rider at a disadvantage. Post-race vet examination revealed a poor recovery.
 
Samurai Sun (NZ) – Slow to begin and hampered shortly after the start.
 
The Money Spender – Raced wide.
 
Soobpurb Dancer – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Shifted out abruptly near the 100m. Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
Mr Begley – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide.
 
Contessa Nile – Change of tactics, to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.

Shades Of Louvre – As Chris Meehan was to be overweight, he was replaced by Adam Spinks. Chris Meehan was subsequently fined the sum of $100 under AR 190(3).
 
Infinite Joy – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Cedar Creek – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 2: BRIBIE ISLAND RSL / KILCOY DIGGERS Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes when SEENINTHESTARS reared, slipped over and dislodged Adam Spinks. SEENINTHESTARS was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 12:49pm. On the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on SEENINTHESTARS be refunded and the following deductions apply on all successful bets:
 
1st JADE’S MISSION 4c win bets 5c place bets
2nd OBSIDIAN ROSE 7c place bets
3rd WELL BRANDED 3c place bets
 
Adam Spinks was examined by the ambulance officers and cleared of any injuries. Trainer B Jones was advised that SEENINTHESTARS must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.

Danecino – Tightened for room and steadied near the 800m when racing between THE GROUSE and RHAPALONG, which shifted out.
 
Rhapalong – Stewards accepted the explanation tended by W Bannerot for the late rider declaration of K Gates. Forced wider rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, K Gates advised stewards that she had been instructed to ride without cover as the horse races best when able to lead and therefore after being crossed in the early stages elected to shift wider on the track and improve forward from the 800m.
 
Well Branded – Raced in restricted room near the 1100m.
 
Valley Of Roses – Hung out throughout and made the home turn wide. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. Connections were advised that the mare must officially trial prior to racing again.
 
Race 3:KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL / TAB RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 Handicap 1500 metres

The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes when, at the request of the rider, PETRALIA was examined by the veterinary surgeon and found to be lame in the off foreleg. PETRALIA was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1:23pm. On the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on PETRALIA be refunded and the following deductions apply on all successful bets:
 
1st BRIEF SOJOURN 9c win bets 11c place bets
2nd BIRKIN BLACK 9c place bets
3rd PERFECT QUALITY 9c place bets
 
Trainer T Potter was advised that a vet certificate of fitness would be required for PETRALIA prior to racing again.
 
Crazy Eyed Fred – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Disappointed for a run near the 400m.
 
Birkin Black – Raced wide during the early stages.
 
Brief Sojourn – Bumped when rounding the home turn.
 
Credible – Raced wide throughout.
 
Reset's Son – Steadied when racing in restricted room when passing the winning post on the first occasion and raced ungenerously during the middle stages.
 
Bartalumba – Raced wide during the early stages.
 
Lady Deanne – Became awkward when negotiating the 1200m crossing and until approaching the 1000m.
 
 
Race 4: SEARLES GARDEN PRODUCTS CUP BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1500 metres
 
Hemsworth (NZ) – Steadied from heels near the 1000m.
 
Kiki Coco – Tightened for room on jumping. Raced wide during the early stages.
 
Spurious – Rider dropped the nearside rein over the concluding stages.
 
Above The Lot – Tightened for room and had to be steadied on jumping.
 
Crown War – Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn until near the 100m.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 3.
 
Race 5: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS VIETNAM VETERANS CUP Class 2 Handicap 1900 metres
 
Sir Gunsen – Tightened for room on jumping. Bumped on the hindquarters when passing the winning post on the first occasion.
 
Prinente – Checked near the 100m. Apprentice Emily Lang, the rider of ALLUDERE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that when approaching the 100m she allowed her mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of PRINENTE, which was obliged to check at that point. Apprentice Lang’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 15 days to commence midnight 4 September and to conclude midnight 19 September.
 
Buddy's Tale – Raced wide during the early stages.
 
Dunoon – Began awkwardly. Checked when passing the winning post on the first occasion after shifting out onto the hindquarters of SIR GUNSEN.
 
Dinny's A Suspect – Tightened for room on jumping. Over-raced during the early stages. Steadied from the heels of the weakening CHAOTIC CRANACH near the 500m.
 
Chaotic Cranach – Whilst weakening was tightened for room near the 450m and had to be checked when the runner racing to its outside, DUNOON, was taken inwards by YIA MAS which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
Yia Mas – Rider reported that his saddle slipped during the middle stages placing him at a disadvantage.
 
Alludere – Slow to begin.
 
Waikato – Raced wide.
 
 
Race 6: KEITH BEAVIS & CARL BARTELS MEMORIAL KILCOY CUP 1200 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 minutes when VOULAIT required farrier attention to refit the near fore plate.
 
For My Annie – Slow to begin. Checked when tightened near the 1000m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Svindal – Checked when tightened for room near the 1000m. Raced wide for the majority. Apprentice Emily Lang, the rider of SWAN ISLAND, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 900m she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SVIDAL, causing that horse to be checked and shift in causing FOR MY ANNIE to also be checked. Apprentice Emily Lang’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 day commencing midnight September 4 and to conclude midnight September 14. Stewards ordered that this penalty be served concurrently with the penalty incurred from Race 5.
 
Xerri – Shifted in despite the efforts of its rider near the 1100m.
 
Penasquito – Raced wide throughout.
 
Pride Of Pyingerra – Tightened for room near the 1100m and had to be steadied.
 
 
Race 7: THE HUNTERS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1200 metres
 
Blue Pacific – Shifted in, made heavy contact with the running rail and dislodged jockey Morgan Butler at a point near the 900m. Inquiry into this incident was adjourned until evidence can be obtained from jockey Morgan Butler who was transported to hospital for further assessment and treatment.

Sprites – Steadied when tightened for room near the 1100m. Hung in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Summer Star – Slow to begin.
 
Rockatansky – Tightened for room when leaving the 1100m and had to be steadied. Inconvenienced by a fallen rider at the 900m.
 
Sidewalk – Hampered shortly after the start. Inconvenienced by a riderless horse at the 800m.
