BANTAMWEIGHT was declared a late scratching at 12:39pm by order of Stewards under LR30(3) when the horse failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on BANTAMWEIGHT refunded in full and the following deductions to apply: 1stCHAYSE ‘N’ NOAH – 11c win, 19c place2ndBURN THE BOATS – 20c place 3rd GOLD SAMURAI – 16c place Stewards accepted the explanation of Co-trainer R Tyrell for the late arrival on course of BANTAMWEWIGHT. BURN THE BOATS – Bumped at the start. DESTINATION SYDNEY – Jumped in at the start and bumped BURN THE BOATS. GIRRAMAY – As the horse competed at the Toowoomba meeting on Saturday 10th December, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages of the event. GOLD SAMURAI – After the horse was a late arrival on course, Stewards ordered a pre-race sample to be taken. Stewards subsequently accepted the explanation of trainer L Gough for the late arrival on course of GOLD SAMURAI. Jumped out at the start. STAR OF COUTEAU – Crowded on jumping and lost ground. Raced keenly a short distance after the start when being crossed by DESTINATION SYDNEY. Made the crossing at the 1200m awkwardly. Near the 400m momentarily crowded for room when weakening. Raced wide for the majority of the event. AFFECTIONATE – Apprentice E Lang reported the horse never travelled at any stage of the race and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed AFFECTIONATE to be suffering from atrial fibrillation. Co-trainer M Hoysted was advised the horse would require a veterinary clearance, including the satisfactory results of an ECG, and must trail satisfactorily prior to its next race start. CHAYSE ‘N’ NOAH - Made the crossing at the 1200m awkwardly. Race 2: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1900 metres BONDURANT – Rider R Wiggins reported the horse was unable to quicken when the pace of the race increased near the 700m. SPURIOUS – Laid in for the majority of the event. Hung in rounding the home turn and in the home straight proving difficult to ride out over the concluding stages of the event. BUDDY'S TALE – Raced wide in the early stages of the event before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 900m. ANGEL GRACE – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground. Trainer C Allardyce was advised a warding would be placed on the horse’s barrier manners. Over-raced at heels near the 1600m and shifted in. ELECTRIC MISS – After the horse was a late arrival on course, Stewards ordered a pre-race sample to be taken. Stewards subsequently accepted the explanation of trainer S Pepper for the late arrival on course of ELECTRIC MISS. Over-raced at heels near the 1600m. Made the crossing at the 1200m awkwardly THE ANGELS KISS – Slow to begin. Race 3: AUSTRALIA DAY KILCOY GIFT FAMILY DAY BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres DOCTOR TEEKAY – Over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Laid out for the majority of the event. SUILVEN – Near the 400m momentarily eased after improving onto the heels of ZANAZOU. HARRYANDTHETIGER – Began awkwardly. Momentarily crowded for room passing the winning post. LEGEND RULES – Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground. Trainer L White was advised LEGEND RULES would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. Slow to begin. Raced wide in the middle stages. ZANAZOU – Slow to begin. WELL BRANDED – Laid out rounding the home turn. Race 4: EARLE GARDEN PRODUCTS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres Correct weight was delayed allowing Stewards to confirm the photo finish image for first placing. HOLY TROJAN – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn. Rider W Peel was of the opinion the horse may now benefit for a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. HEROIC MISS – Over-raced in the early stages when caught wide. Rider R Wiggins reported HEROIC MISS did not appreciate the tight turning track. ROSE OF RAHEEN – K Yoshida, rider of ROSE OF RAHEEN, was reprimanded under AR132(5) for use of the whip on 16 occasions in total during the event. RUBY DIAMOND – Laid in shortly after the start and bumped EVANESCENT. EVANESCENT – Bumped at the start by RUBY DIAMOND. SAND AND OCEAN – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. Held up for clear running near the 250m. SIDESTEP ME – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Rider M Hellyer reported the horse made the home turn awkwardly. DOMUS DEI - Weakened from the 600m. Race 5: HEDLEY GITTINS MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 800 metres BOOGIELU – Bumped at the start. NO BETTER AFFAIRE – Jumped out at the start and bumped BOOGIELU. Laid out rounding the home turn. Raced wide for the majority of the event. MAJORELLE – Near the 400m momentarily steadied from the heels of YOUESS ESS ARE which shifted in. SO NOBLE – Slow to begin. Near the 700m shifted in and away from REMEMBER MARY. ZENIA – Laid out rounding the home turn.Raced wide for the majority of the event. YOU ESS ESS ARE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. IGBO – Raced wide for the majority of the event.EMPEROR'S SECRET – Slow to begin. ROOTS'N'ROCKS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 6: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL Class 2 Handicap 1500 metres Prior to the declaration of correct weight K Yoshida, rider of second placegetter FRIEND OF GOD, viewed the patrol footage near the 900 metres before electing to take the matter no further. TUSCAN LEATHER – Crowded at the start when PENNYWORTH jumped in. PENNYWORTH – Jumped in at the start. When over-racing near the 1000m became awkwardly placed at heels and had to be steadied. ROYALSPECTOR – Raced keenly past the winning post on the first occasion. BONNIE AND CLYDE – Passing the winning post on the first occasion, when racing tightly to the inside of FRIEND OF GOD, was restrained and as a consequence made the turn awkwardly, shifted out and lost ground. In taking no direct action, Stewards advised both riders to exercise care in similar circumstances.Laid in rounding the home turn and in the home straight when placed under pressure.Raced wide for the majority of the event. FRIEND OF GOD – Momentarily crowded for room near the 800m when FRESH PRINCE shifted in when not fully clear. R Wiggins, rider of FRESH PRINCE, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. BIRKIN BLACK – Raced wide for the majority of the event. ENCHANTED REIGN – Slow to begin. Attempted to buck on a number of occasions shortly after the start. Trainer L Powell was advised ENCHANTED REIGHN must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. Laid in rounding the home turn and was momentarily awkwardly placed on heels. MR INTREPID – Slow to begin. Made the turn out of the home straight on the first occasion awkwardly. Following the disappointing performance trainer A Briskey advised the stable would now be considering the horse’s immediate racing future. Race 7: THANKS TO KILCOY DIGGERS KEEPING THE SPIRIT ALIVE RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 1200 metres SOCK'EMSID – A post-race veterinary examination no abnormalities. MANDALAY BLONDE – Laid in shortly after the start crowding SPIRIT OF GIVING which had to be steadied. Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid in marginally entering the home straight. MISS ANTARCTICA – Weakened noticeably from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities other than a poor post-race recovery. Rider N Thomas dropped his whip near the 200m. COME CLEAN – Raced wide for the majority of the event. DEVILLAIN – Slow to begin. PIXIE MAGIC – Raced wide for the majority of the event. BEEOKAY – Declared a late scratching at 3:56pm on veterinary advice when found to be lame in the near fore fetlock. Trainer A Briskey was advised BEEOKAY would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. Race 8: MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1200 metres AMPHAWA – Raced wide for the majority of the event. LEGEND I AM – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event. BRAZETTI – Rounding the home turn shifted out and away from ROAD TO EMMAUS and bumped LEGEND I AM. CLAUDIUS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. WHY SHY – Rider C Bayliss reported he desisted from pressuring WHY SHY in the home straight as the horse had failed to respond to his riding from leaving the 500m. Trainer B Lang also expressed his disappointment also adding that WHY SHY would now be leaving his stable.
