GENERAL
 
As N Vuille (Injury), J Metcalfe (Injury), S Champkin (Transport breakdown), M Philpot (Fall) and Adam Spinks (Illness) were all indisposed, Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Race Day summary sheet.

Stewards permitted the following weight variations at today’s meeting:
Race 2: BELLICOSE – Matthew Powell 55kg (+1kg)
Race 5: WINSTON BLUE – Adin Thompson 55kg (+1kg)
 
Race 1: TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
EGALITE – When asked to comment on the performance jockey J Huxtable expressed his disappointment stating that the horses most recent starts have been over shorter distances than that of today, adding that EGALITE was under pressure to hold a position throughout and was inclined to hang out during the event. A post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with trainer L Hatch in the coming days.
 
ANCIENT MISSION – Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn.
 
MRS NOVAK – Slow to begin.
 
PIXIE ANN – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground.
 
REMANDED – Slow to begin.
 
BOOM RAPTURE – Hung in under pressure from the 400m.
 
 
Race 2: SEARLE GARDEN PRODUCTS Class 3 Handicap 1500 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 15 minutes when the barriers failed to open, and all horses were required to be removed from the barriers and returned to the saddling enclosure whilst the barriers were tested. All horses were inspected by the Vet prior to being reloaded into the barriers and cleared to start.
 
SEA PALLING – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
BIRAGUE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide during the early stages before improving forward to the lead passing the 800m.
 
SLY CORNER – Rider M Hellyer reported that with the addition of Blinkers today the gelding over-raced during the early and middle stages and in his opinion, this had a detrimental effect on the overall performance.
 
BELLICOSE – Had difficulty securing clear running passing the 100m.
 
DAULAT ULTI MAIORA – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 3: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1500 metres
 
BANDIT – Checked significantly and shifted wider to avoid the fallen SKILLED ARTIST near the 400m.
 
HE'S THE NEWS – Forced wider after passing the winning post on the first occasion.
 
ROCKED – Tightened for room on jumping. Severely checked and blundered after being bumped heavily by SKILLED ARTIST, which shifted out whilst falling near the 400m. In this incident jockey C Meehan was almost dislodged, lost both irons and as a result ROCKED took no further competitive part in the event.
 
MISS CINNAMONCIDER – Became awkward and shifted wider on the track after passing the winning post on the first occasion.
 
SPURIOUS – Tightened for room on jumping. Checked significantly to avoid the fallen SKILLED ARTIST near the 400m.
 
SKILLED ARTIST – Blundered and fell dislodging apprentice M Philpot near the 400m. An inquiry into this incident was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed. Post race vet examination revealed the horse to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer A Boyd was advised that veterinary certificate would be required prior to racing again. Apprentice Philpott was attended to by QAS staff and advised she would require a medical clearance prior to her next race or trial ride.
 
 
Race 4: SENSATIONAL SUNDAY KILCOY 2ND JULY Maiden Plate 2076 metres
 
Remedial work was carried out on a section of the track near the 400m due to damage caused by the fallen horse in the previous event.

CRIMSON REWARD – Jockey D Thornton was reprimanded under AR131(5) for excessive use of the whip in that he used the whip on 15 occasions in totality.
 
KURABENII – Shifted very wide on the track after passing the winning post on the first occasion.
 
SET BEAT – Restrained on jumping from the wide barrier and shifted in to obtain cover.
 
FIT OF RAGE – Slow to begin. Weakened badly from the 800m and finished a distant last. A post-race vet examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer V Venkaya was advised that a vet erinary certificate would be required prior to starting again.
 
MORE LIKE THAT – Weakened from the 600m and tailed off. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainers’ representative for A Briskey was advised that the mare must officially trial prior to racing again.
 
 
Race 5: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 2076 metres
 
BAD INFLUENCE – Forced wider when rounding the home turn.
 
FIREBOX – Steadied from heels when the pace slackened approaching the winning post on the first occasion.
 
HEART OF A LION – Slow to begin.
 
BRAVE BOY – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels when the pace slackened approaching the winning post on the first occasion. Improved onto heels over the concluding stages causing the rider to stop riding and shift out to secure clear running.
 
BRING THE STARS – Made the home turn awkwardly and shifted out.
 
JUMEIRAH TRIANGLE – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced and forced wider when rounding the home turn.
 
WINSTON BLUE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
RECALL EVENTS – Raced wide during the early stages before improving to a position outside the lead near the 1100m.
 
 
 
Race 6: KILCOY WINTER RACE CARNIVAL SUNDAY 2ND JULY Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
BLUE ELLA – Raced wide before weakening approaching the 400m.
 
BANKONAJET – Slow to begin. Improved onto heels when rounding the home turn before shifting wider to secure clear running.
 
DAULAT MERAH BESAR – Slow to begin.
 
BRONZE MEMORY – Slow to begin.
 
SHAMISTER – Slow to begin. Trainer S Strazzieri presented SHAMISTER without blinkers, which was part of the horses approved gear. Stewards ordered that blinkers be placed on the horse prior to the race. Mr Strazzieri subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge under AR206(2) and was fined $100.
 
PARIS FASHION – Jockey K Zechner returned to scale in excess of 1/2kg overweight and pleaded guilty to a charge under AR211(1) and subsequently fined the sum of $300.
 
WHEN DOVES FLY – Raced wide throughout. Post race vet examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
 
Race 7: SUNDAY RACES KILCOY 2ND JULY Colts, Geldings and Entires BENCHMARK 58 1200 metres
 
GALACTUS – Shifted out when rounding the 800m turn and steadied from heels. Rider M McGillivray dropped whip passing the 100m.
 
STERLINGTON – Improved onto the heels of the tiring ROTHERO ESSGEE near the 350m and had to be steadied. Apprentice E Lang was reminded of her obligations to fully ride her mounts out to the completion of the event.
 
GALLERY MASTER – Slow to begin. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
MONEY BEAR – Shifted out when rounding the 800m turn and had to be steadied from heels.
 
ROTHERO ESSGEE – ApprenticeB Wheeler reported that his mount hung out from the 800m.
 
EPAUVESCENT – Raced wide during the early stages.
 
NINE CIGARS – Raced wide the majority.
 
FLASH ZARIZ – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 8: SOMERSET REGIONAL COUNCIL Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres
 
DREAM ENTITY – Raced wide throughout.
 
ABOVE THE LOT – Restrained at the start from the wide barriers in order to obtain cover closer to the fence.
 
MILAGRO – Slow to begin.
 
BLUE SMARTIE – Raced wide throughout. Rider dropped whip after passing the 200m. Rider S Willis reported to stewards that the gelding was making an abnormal respiratory noise during the event. A post-race vet examination revealed the horse to be making an upper respiratory noise. Trainer K Afford was advised BLUE SMARTIE would require a veterinary clearance including results of a satisfactory endoscopic examination.
 
RED GADGET – Over-raced during the early stages.
