Prior to declaration of correct weight, G Cartwright, rider of third past the post BUN IN THE OVEN, viewed the patrol footage before lodging a protest against second past the post VESPER LYND (T Marshall) alleging interference in the home straight. After viewing the available footage and taking submissions from both parties, Stewards found that near the 100m VESPER LYND shifted out under riding resulting in BUN IN THE OVEN being impeded and taken wider on the track. Bearing in mind the degree of shift from VESPER LYND, the manner in which BUN IN THE OVEN finished the race off and the head margin between both runners at the finish, Stewards upheld the protest and amended the placings to read 5–17–9-7 and correct weight declared. At a subsequent inquiry T Marshall the rider of VESPER LYND, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.

SARODEC – Caught wide in the early stages before progressing forward to lead the event from the 1000m.Stewards questioned Apprentice L Martyn over the tempo set in the middle stages of the race where SARODEC maintained a significant lead over the main body of the field between the 900m and 400m. Apprentice Martyn advised her instructions were to lead if possible, adding that after obtaining the lead near the 1000m she was reluctant to over-restrain SARODEC as the gelding can be inclined to over-race. After viewing the patrol footage apprentice Martyn agreed she could have made greater effort to steady the pace of the race in the middle stages. Bearing in mind the relative inexperience of apprentice Martyn, Stewards took no direct action noting that apprentice Martyn would now be seeking further tuition from Mr Damien Browne in respect to the ride.
