Smith +1kg (55kg) Race 1: SALUTE PAUL DOLAN 50 YEARS SERVICE TO RACING MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M NEVA BREEZE was declared a late scratching at 1.36pm by the order of the Stewards when the filly refused to be loaded into the barriers. Upon declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies invested on NEVA BREEZE be refunded with the following deductions to apply to all successful bets: First: HERECOMESANTORINI: 0c win; 2c placeSecond: WINCHMAN: 1c place Third: WAITING FOR GRAHAM: 4c place Trainer T. Bita was advised that the filly would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next start. WINCHMAN – Approaching the 1000m was crowded and had to be steadied from the heels of WAITING FOR GRAHAM (B. Ainsworth) which shifted in when not fully clear. B. Ainsworth was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Raced wide for the majority of the event. WINNING ELEMENTS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When asked to comment on the disappointing performance rider N. Thomas stated the gelding, which was having its first race start, raced greenly throughout and in his opinion did not appreciate blinkers, and it was his recommendation that they be removed and further added that WINNING ELEMENTS did not appreciate the tight turning track. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. Trainer R. Davidson was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for a poor performance. ILLEGALLY BLONDE – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, rider A. Thompson stated the gelding was inclined to lay in throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. Trainer R. Davidson was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for hanging in throughout the event. FONZIE ROCKS – Slow to begin. WAITING FOR GRAHAM – Steadied from heels when crowded near the 1000m. HERECOMESANTORINI – Laid out rounding the 800m turn and lost ground. FREEMAN FURY – Raced in restricted room and momentarily crowded approaching the 800m. For some distance passing the 800m had to be steadied from heels when the pace of the race eased. DARE I SAY – Upon arrival at the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination after contacting the enclosure gate and was cleared was cleared to start. Raced in restricted room and momentarily crowded approaching the 800m. Race 2: KILCOY "THE MOONEE VALLEY OF THE NORTH" QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200 MBUTWEDID – Change of tactics – to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. After being slow to begin settled in a mid-field position. Laid out rounding the 800m turn. Forced wider rounding the home turn when KOBABILITY laid out. BOMBE BABE – Trainer R. Lipp was fined $100 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of J. Stanley as the rider. KOBABILITY – Laid out rounding the home turn and also in the home straight when placed under pressure. STYLISH ANGEL – Slow to begin. Shortly after the start steadied from the heels of RAZOR’S MAGIC (G Semmens) which shifted in. Apprentice G. Semmens the rider of RAZOR’S MAGIC was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Stewards upgraded the track to a Good 4 following this race. Race 3: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1900 MCLEAN SHAVEN – Trainer B. Ahrens was fined $200 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of J. Williams as the rider. Began awkwardly. SWIPER – Bumped at the start. POSTMAN'S GAP – Jumped in at the start and bumped SWIPER. Crowded and taken in passing the winning post on the first occasion. BARGARA BOUND – Bumped at the start. ZALATORIS (NZ) – Slow to begin. TWILIGHT STEPS – After passing the winning post on the first occasion raced in restricted room, before being checked. At a subsequent inquiry T. Wheeler, rider of LADY LEATHAN, pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in resulting in POSTMANS GAP being crowded for room and taken in tightening the rightful running of TWILIGHT STEPS which had to be checked. The license of T Wheeler to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 days to commence from midnight 26 February up to and including midnight 4 March 2025. Stewards ordered the term of this suspension to be served concurrently with his suspension relating to an incident occurring later in the race at the 400m. POLLY PRINCESS – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide from the 800m.SASSY TAP (NZ) – Upon arrival at the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination after contacting the enclosure gate and was cleared was cleared to start. Made the turn out of the home straight on the first occasion awkwardly. Raced wide for the remainder of the event. TANGO SPIRIT (NZ) – Jumped in at the start and bumped BARGARA BOUND. Checked leaving the 400m. At a subsequent inquiry T. Wheeler, rider of LADY LETHAN pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that leaving the 400m he made insufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting when under riding resulting in TANGO SPIRIT having to be checked. TWILIGHT STEPS which was following, was inconvenienced as a consequence. The license of T. Wheeler to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 26 February up to an including midnight 7 March 2025. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. When asked to comment on the performance, A. Thompson stated that in his opinion TANGO SPIRIT is better suited to races over shorter distances than that of today. Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1900 M Correct weight was delayed allowing the connections of FORCE ME, which was placed third by the judge, to review the judge’s photo. After viewing the photo finish image, Stewards confirmed the judge’s placings and declared correct weight. SMOKIN MATCH – Crowded on jumping and lost ground. SPOKE TO RAJIV (NZ) – Change of tactics – to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Began awkwardly and lost ground settling at the rear of the field. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 1400m, when racing keenly, had to steadied from the heels of LYNDALL. NITROGLYCERINE – Change of tactics – to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. After being pressured in the early stages, settled in midfield position. Approaching the 100m momentarily steadied from the heels of FORCE ME which shifted out before being corrected. KASEAR – Jumped in at the start. LYNDALL – Laid in for a short distance leaving the 400m.Taken wider rounding the home turn when NITROGLYCERINE shifted out. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. FORCE ME (NZ) – Jumped out at the start. BUDDY'S TALE – Hampered between runners at the start and lost ground. Near the 700m when racing in restricted room to the inside of LYNDALL was steadied. Stewards adjourned an inquiry to a time and date to be fixed into the reasons for BUDDY’S TALE being checked near the 650m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 5: LADBROKE FORM GENIUS CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1200 M WORTHY ESSGEE – After being slow to begin was then checked a short distance later when GRAND CRUSADER shifted out. Raced wide from the 700m. Laid in under pressure leaving the 100m before being corrected by its rider. In the presence of Racing Queensland apprentice jockey mentor R. Fradd, apprentice M. Mankelow pleaded guilty under the provisions of AR131(b), in that as the rider of WORTHY ESSGEE she did not ride that gelding out over the final four strides of the race which in the opinion of the Stewards cost WORTHY ESSGEE third place. After considering this was her first ride at the Kilcoy track and her status as an apprentice, M. Mankelow’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence at midnight 22 February up to and including midnight 6 March 2025. KENNY BOY – Apprentice T. Wheeler reported the gelding was stepping short in its action after the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Representative for trainer K. Hill was advised a veterinary clearance would be required for KENNY BOY before racing again. UNCLE BUD – Bumped at the start. Steadied near the 1000m when PRETTY LITTLE LASS was taken in by WHISKEY DANCER (J. Stanley). J. Stanley was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. PRETTY LITTLE LASS – Trainer P. Jenkins was fined $200 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of J. Stanley as the rider. Jumped in and bumped UNCLE BUD. DIVINE RENDEZVOUS – Over the concluding stages was tightened for room between BLAME THE WHISKEY and PRETTY LITTLE LASS which was taken in when UNCLE BUD laid in. Race 6: SEARLE GARDEN PRODUCTS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 MGARRUCHA – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. PORKY – Slow to begin. PALATIAL PRINCE – Approaching the winning post was eased from the heels of GARRUCHA which laid out over the concluding stages. WARRIOR CHIEF – When asked to comment on the performance, rider E. Chaves stated the filly raced comfortably in a forward one-off position in the early and middle stages, however placed under pressure from the 300m, failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Trainer M. Kelly reported that she will now consider sending the filly for a spell. VANCOUVER QUEEN – Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide throughout the event. Checked shortly after entering the home straight. At a subsequent inquiry, E. Chaves the rider of WARRIOR CHIEF was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift out under pressure when insufficiently clear of VANCOUVER QUEEN which had to be checked. E. Chaves license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence at midnight 22 February up to an including midnight 2 March 2025. ICY ISEA – Near the 500m was obliged to steady when attempting a narrow run between STORMTROOPER and GRANCOEUR. Steadied from heels near the 400m behind the weakening GRANCOEUR. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Race 7: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1500 MPASSIONATE REBEL – Jumped out at the start. HOOKS (NZ) – Crowded and contacted running rail near the 800m when FLYING BAT (B. Lorena) shifted in when not fully clear. Rider B. Lorena was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) careless riding in this incident. ANOTHER DAZZLER – Jumped in at the start. INTENTIONAL LASS – Bumped and became unbalanced shortly after the start. Made the turn out of the home straight awkwardly. PINTURA ROSA (FR) – Upon arrival at the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination after contacting the enclosure gate and was cleared was cleared to start. Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground. Trainer’s representative for trainer B. Smith was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners. TOUCHOFCLASS (NZ) – Upon arrival at the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination after being fractious in the mounting yard and contacting the enclosure rail, was cleared was cleared to start. Crowded at the start and lost ground. ABOVE THE SKY – Passing the winning post on the first occasion taken in and crowded. ROCKED – Crowded at the start and lost ground. MAXIE TAP (NZ) – Made the turn awkwardly out of the home straight on the first occasion and lost ground. LOVEZELADYS – Checked passing the winning post on the first occasion. At a subsequent inquiry D. Turner, rider of PASSIONATE REBEL, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in crowding the running of ABOVE THE SKY which in turn was taken in crowding the running of LOVEZELADYS which had to checked. D. Turner’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence at midnight 2 March up to an including midnight 11 March 2025.
