Race 1: OPEN HANDICAP 1000 Metres

The start of this event was delayed when jockey B Appo was delayed arriving on course.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards viewed the photo finish image for second.  Subsequently, in the presence of D Reynolds, trainer of MUSIC SCENE placed second and L Wanless, trainer of METRO TRAMP placed third, stewards acting under the provisions of AR214(4)(a) permitted the placings to be amended to DIGGITY – First, METRO TRAMP – Second, and MUSIC SCENE – Third.  Correct weight was declared on these placings.

EIGHT OVER – Laid out rounding the home turn and shifted out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight, resulting in CLIVEDEN being taken wider and CASH’N’RUN being hampered.  Rider H Richardson was advised to exercise greater care.  A post-race veterinary examination of EIGHT OVER revealed minor lacerations to the off hind leg, consistent with being galloped on.

CASH’N’RUN – Raced wide throughout.  Hampered approaching the 300 metres.

CLIVEDEN – Hampered rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

BAGGER CHANCE – Weakened in the home straight.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ALL IN SYNC – Rider N Morton reported the mare raced flat today and may not have backed up from its most recent start at Gympie on 24 October 2020.  Trainer M Lewis advised ALL IN SYNC would now be sent for a spell.

EURO ROCKSTAR – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

SUZY NEEDS LOVIN’ – Jumped out at the start.

DUKATTI – Hung out for the majority of the event.  Laid out rounding the home turn taking hampering both MISS READY NOW and QUEENOFMAINSTREET who were taken wider on the track.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards advised trainer B Murray that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

FORGOTTEN FEELING – Rider G Goomany reported his saddle shifted shortly after the start placing him at some disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

MISS READY NOW – Hampered when taken wider rounding the home-turn by DUKATTI, which hung out.  Rider L Dillon was suspended for a period of seven days to commence midnight 3 November up to and including midnight 10 November under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on ten occasions prior to the 100 metres, five more than permissible.

TEDDER EXPRESS – Slow to begin.  Rider H Richardson dropped her whip near the 300 metres.

MY TARANAKI – As had not started for an extended period of time, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and cleared to race.
