QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT KUMBIA RACE CLUB KUMBIA – Tuesday, 5th November 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Firm 2 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C WarrenStewards Panel – D Kerwick GENERAL As App T Noble was unable to fulfil her engagements due to personal reasons, riders replacements were permitted as per the Stewards race day summary. Race 1: POWER SAFE KINGAROY BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000m VOULAIT- Laid in approaching the 200m and became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels. NO BETTER AFFAIRE- App N Palasthy was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride her mount out to the finish of the event. In considering the matter Stewards were comfortably satisfied that App Palasthy’s actions had no bearing on her mounts finishing position but were below the expected standard. ARABIAN FOX- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. EASY COME- Laid in for the majority. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. CRAIGLEA THERA- Obliged to shift out around heels passing the 200m. ONE LAST TRICK- Laid out approaching the 200m. App L O’Donnell dropped her whip near the 100m. Lost an off-fore plate in running. YOU ESS ESS ARE- Laid in under pressure down the running. Race 2: RAINE & HORNE/HON DEB FRECKLINGTON MP MAIDEN PLATE 1200m COUNTLESS KISSES- Began awkwardly, attempted to buck and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer R Pirrera was advised the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on two consecutive occasions prior to again being permitted to start in a race. EMPERIOR TEIO- Laid out under pressure near the 200m. Tightened for room before being buffeted and obliged to check approaching the 100m. FLAWLESS AMBITION- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover. FREE CHOICE- Began awkwardly and buffeted. Bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced approaching the 100m. MORE THOUGHT- Proved difficult to load. App P Carter pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that approaching the 100m she did exercise insufficient effort in preventing her mount from shifting in tightening the running of EMPERIOR TEIO which was then buffeted and obliged to check. FREE CHOICE, which was racing to the inside of EMPERIOR TEIO was also bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. App Carter’s license to ride in race was subsequently suspended for a period of 8 days to commence 9 November up to and including 16 November 2024. In considering the matter Stewards noted the degree of carelessness and severity of interference as well as App Carters relative inexperience and apprentice status, her guilty plea and good record in relation to the rule indicating only one previous reprimand. App Carter was advised of her right to an appeal. CRAIGLEA MERIDA- Following the running of this event Jockey H Phillips was examined by QAS Officers deemed unfit to fulfil her remaining engagements due to illness. Rider replacements were made as per Stewards race day summary. Jockey Phillips was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to again being permitted to ride. STEEL GARDENIA- Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure down the running. BAMBINO DI VINO- Stewards permitted Jockey L Tilley to ride the filly 1/2kg over its allocated weight. POLLY PRINCESS- Bumped on jumping. Obliged to shift in several horses approaching the 100m to obtain clear running. Race 3: KINGAROY QUARRY SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200m MOORABINDA MICK- Laid in under pressure down the running. MISTA MOEGA- Laid in under pressure down the running. MISS DE BLAAS- Laid in under pressure down the running. MISHANI PHAROAH- When no senior rider was available at the weight Steward permitted App P Carter to be substituted as rider of the gelding. Bumped a gate post on entering onto the course proper. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Laid in under pressure down the running. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages. Lost a near-hind plate in running. Race 4: LENIHAN, SMOOTHY & McCONVILLE 0-50 HANDICAP 1400m RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. ALL ABOUT LEWIS- Began awkwardly and bumped. Laid in under pressure down the running. BLACK ‘N’ DEADLY- Momentarily keen on heels leaving the 1000m. FLY LIKE HELEN- Began awkwardly, bumped and became awkwardly placed on heels. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. KOHIKO- Raced keenly on heels leaving the 1000m. HELL OF A PRINCE- Began awkwardly. LORD EDDY- Weakened from the 200m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey B Andrews was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the poor performance. TIME TO TURN- Bumped on jumping. Improved onto heels near the 50m, having to be steadied and shifted wider. Race 5: HUSTON MOTORS COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUALIFIER/KUMBIA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400m FIRE KING- Slow to begin. MOMACK- Buffeted on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running. KORDIA- Bumped on jumping. Shifted in and away from another runner leaving the 150m. SUPER DUCK- Laid in under pressure down the running, having to be corrected by its rider approaching the 200m. CAPITAN DE SEDA- Fractious in the barrier. After beginning on terms was unable to muster the necessary speed in the early stages and took up a trailing position. When asked to comment on the performance Jockey S Apthorpe advised that, in his opinion, the distance of todays event was short of the geldings best. PESHWA- Laid in under pressure down the running proving difficult to ride out. BARCLAY’S BANK- Held up for clear running for a short distance after entering the home straight. MONASTERY- Bumped on jumping. MONASTERY- Stewards accepted the reasons tendered by Trainer J Healy for the late declaration of rider on the gelding. FLASH ZARIZ- When no other suitable riders were available Stewards permitted App C Lowe to be substituted as rider of the gelding at 1kg over the allocated weight. Stewards noted the lateness of the engagement in permitting App Lowe to ride over her advertised minimum riding weight. Buffeted on jumping.
