STEWARDS REPORT LONGREACH JOCKEY CLUB – SATURDAY 3 December, 2016 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT (3) RAIL – TRUE ENTIRE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Mr L CollinsSteward- K McCrackenClerk of Scales – P. AndersonJudge – D. Walker/E. Warren/A. WattsVeterinarian – S McClymontStarter- S. Hayden Race 1: Phill Robinson Plumbers BM 65 HANDICAP - 1000 metres Magic Jewel- Declared a late scratching at 1.15pm when advised that the mare was lame in the near hind. Trainer stated MAGIC JEWEL may now be spelled. A veterinary certificate of fitness will be required prior to its next start. SUNFAST- Slow to begin. SERAPHIMS- Began awkwardly and made contact with insider runner. Raced wide throughout. In the straight, hung in and over the final 100 metres, proved difficult to ride out. Race 2: Galilee Basin & Haulage Maiden Plate- 1200 metres PURBECK- Slow to begin. Near the 900 metres, commenced to hung out and near the 400 metres shifted wider on the track. TRUE TIME- Slow to begin, jumped outwards and lost ground. Race 3: Darcy Browne Electronics QTIS BM 50 Handicap- 1200 metres As Jockey R Faehr was not riding at the meeting, he was replaced by Jockey D McMaster (SPECK OF GOLD). HIDDEN CHIEF- Hung in until near the 800 metres. LINE AND LENGTH- Race wide without cover throughout. Near the 400 metres, hung out. BOLD TRAVELLER- Rider reported that his mount hung out throughout. Raced wide throughout. Race 4: SJM Builders Open Handicap - 1300 metres Prior to weighing out, Jockey C Bryen sought to be replaced due to being effected by the heat and his weight loss regime in the days prior. Given the circumstances, he was permitted to be replaced in Race 4 by Jockey D McMaster. He was re-assessed prior to Race 5 and permitted to ride given that no other rider was available. ICE MELODY- Dwelt at the start. SPURRED UP- Raced wide without cover throughout. IVANHOE- Raced wide without cover throughout. Jockey D Rewald was fined $100 for use of his whip three more time than permissible prior to the 100 metres Race 5: George Kent Constructions BM 60 Handicap- 1400 metres MY FLING- Buffeted between runners at the start and lost some ground. Near the 900 metres, raced in restricted room and eased when runners outside shifted inwards. SINAMORE- Began awkwardly.
