RACING QUEENSLAND STEWARDS REPORT LONGREACH JOCKEY CLUB – SATURDAY 6TH APRIL 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT (3) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Ms K. Ballard Race 1: MERINO BAKERY CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1000 metres BARD OF ARMAGH - Proved difficult to load. Trainer C. Austin was advised stewards would need to see improved barrier manners next start. Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. PETITE ELLE – The mare got her head up shortly after the start and was eased, then travelled wide for much of the race. LEND ME A TENNER – Slow into stride, travelled wide for much of the race and lay in over the concluding stages. I KAN CONQUER – Jumped inwards. Race 2: DAVID & CLARE WALKER CLASS 6 PLATE - 1000 metres DRAYMAN – Bumped on several occasions with VALFIERNO leaving the 200m mark. STYLISH SON – Lay in down the home straight. TUXEDO BOY – Jumped away awkwardly and slow into stride. Lay in over the concluding stages under pressure. DUCK IN DUBAI – Gates bounced back onto the gelding causing him to begin awkwardly. Shifted out over the concluding stages. NERO D’AVOLA – Jumped away awkwardly and slow into stride, then travelled wide for much of the race. VALFIERNO – Dipped at the gates and began awkwardly. Eased close to the line as runners either side shifted ground. Race 3: LONGREACH SHOW SOCIETY MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres ANDRUM – Slow to begin and slow into stride. FRIGHTENING DELAGO – Raced ungenerously and finished tailed off. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD – Travelled wide for much of the race. Race 4: LONGREACH JOCKEY CLUB BM 50 HANDICAP - 1200 metres THUNDER was a late scratching as there were no riders available. HIDDEN ROAD – Got his head up on jumping and jumped outwards. Ducked in away from another runner then travelled to the outside carrying out another runner and then travelled wide for the remainder of the race. RECONIS – Dictated to by another runner and carted very wide on the track and lost ground and his racing position near the 1000m. Race 5: ARTHUR MOODY MEMORIAL OPEN HANDICAP - 1200 metres SAMMY SPARROW – Stood flat footed in the barriers and refused to jump. Trainer T. Austin was advised the gelding would be required to pass a barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. CHIEF ADVOCATE – Held up for clear running from the 250m to the 100m. HUNTER ISLAND – V. Venkaya was permitted to ride 1kg overweight. Slow into stride, galloped onto heels at the 900m and travelled wide for much of the event. SAMUEL JAMES – Travelled wide with no cover for much of the race. Race 6: XXXX GOLD BM 60 HANDICAP – 1300 metres CRAWFISH – Travelled wide in the middle and finishing stages then lay in over the concluding stages under pressure. AMADEO – Slow into stride. MISHANI CENTURION – Slow into stride and travelled wide in the early stages. STYLISH LUCK – Travelled wide for much of the race.
