RACING QUEENSLAND STEWARDS REPORT LONGREACH JOCKEY CLUB – SATURDAY 15TH JUNE 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT (3) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Ms K. Ballard Race 1: GEORGE BOURNE & ASSOCIATES MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres FRIGHTENING DELAGO – Travelled wide for much of the race. REAL MACHINE – Jumped inwards contacting an inside runner. THE MARSHALL – Raced ungenerously throughout and finished tailed off. GREY FALCON – Contacted at the start when an inside runner jumped inwards, slow to begin and slow into stride. Lay in down the home straight under pressure. LEO’S EXPRESS – Lay out over the concluding stages under pressure. MISS MARLO – Slow to begin. Race 2: GORDON “POPEYE” SAUNDERS MEMORIAL BM 69 HANDICAP - 1100 metres SHIGERU MAHOGANY – Lay in near the 150m and had to be straightened. BENCHI PEGASUS – Fractious in the gates prior to jumping. I AM A LAD – Over raced to the near the 700m. MAKE AMENDS – Slow to begin and travelled wide for much of the race. Jockey L. Dillon reporteed the mare hung out for the entire event. HOLEY GADOLEY – Travelled wide for much of the race. Race 3: THE BIRDCAGE HOTEL QTIS BM 50 HANDICAP - 1000 metres BLAZING ISSUE, LEROY ROCKS and CLARE BARES ALL were late scratchings at 12.30pm as there were no riders available. SIR CHARLESTON – Slow into stride, tightened for room nearing the 175m when another runner shifted ground. EXCEED TO WIN – Ducked in near the 175m tightening an inside runner. SAME OLD STORY – Shifted in shortly after the start hampering an inside runner. RECONIS – Slow to begin and tightened shortly after the start when an outside runner shifted in then travelled wide in the middle and late stages of the race. CASSAVANCE – Travelled wide for much of the race. HAYYLER’S TARY – Pulled up distressed in the mounting yard after the race and was treated by the veterinary surgeon on course, causing a delay to the start of race 4. Trainer R. Williams was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare racing again. Race 4: COL ANDERSON MEMORIAL BM 55 HANDICAP - 1400 metres Jockey P. Hamblin was the rider of NICCONI PASQUALE and permitted to ride 3 and 1/2kg overweight as there were no other riders available. AMADEO – Travelled wide in the middle and latter stages of the race. ERECTOR – Stood flat footed in the gates losing several lengths. SNIP ‘N’ DRIFT – Jumped outwards. NICCONI PASQUALE – Held up for clear running down the home straight for considerable distance. Race 5: XXXX GOLD CUP OPEN HANDICAP - 1600 metres Jockey P. Hamblin was the rider of CRAWFISH and permitted to ride 1kg overweight. SONG ONE – Slow to begin and travelled wide in the early stages.
