QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT LONGREACH JOCKEY CLUB – SATURDAY 30TH MAY 2020 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT (3) RAIL – TRUE ENTIRE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Ms K. Ballard Race 1: LJC BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (1) - 1000 metres There was a short delay to the start of race 1 awaiting the veterinarian to arrive on course. Jockey C. Bryen was replaced on FLEWSHOT, BABYLON EXPRESS and MARBEL DUKE as he was unable to make the allotted weight. Due to the extenuating circumstances no penalty was stipulated. There was a delay to correct weight as the photo finish equipment failed and patrol footage was used for placings and margins. I AM A LAD – Returned to the mounting yard with an injury to the offside front leg. The gelding was treated by the veterinary surgeon on course and trainer C. Prow was advised a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required prior to racing. LEO’S EXPRESS – Bounded out of the gates. STAR SLIK – Travelled wide for much of the race. CLATEAU – Slow into stride. FLEWSHOT – Jockey J. Rudd was the replacement rider. Slow into stride. COOL RAIN – Jumped away awkwardly. Upon returning to the mounting yard it was noted the gelding had sustained an injury to the offside front leg. The gelding was treated by the on course veterinary surgeon and trainer T. Austin was advised a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required prior to starting again. KURIL FOX – Travelled wide for much of the race. Race 2: LJC BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (2) - 1000 metres There was a short delay to the start as TURKEY BEACH was re-saddled behind the barriers. SLAYDEM – Slow to muster speed. CHARLES – Jumped outwards contacting an outside runner then travelled wide for much of the race. LONG STORY SHORT – Jumped away awkwardly losing ground. DUCK IN DUBAI – Jumped away awkwardly. NO MORE BIDS – Shifted wide in the late stages to gain clear running. TOP EVIE – Contacted at the start then travelled wide for much of the race. Race 3: LJC CLASS B HANDICAP - 1000 metres There was a short delay prior to the start as DOCAROCKET was re-saddled behind the barriers. DAN – Jumped awkwardly and eased off heels when laying in shortly after the start. DOCAROCKET – Travelled wide in the early stages and lay out over the concluding stages under pressure. SPALLINA – Slow into stride and travelled wide for much of the race. BABYLON EXPRESS – Jockey C. Rogers was the replacement rider. Slow to begin and travelled wide for much of the race with no cover. OUR SAY – Bounded out of the gates losing ground. Race 4: LJC MAIDEN PLATE – 1100 metres THE MARSHALL – Laid in over the concluding stages under pressure. BURRACOMBE – Jumped away awkwardly and raced greenly throughout. SARENDA – Fractious prior to the start. SHE DEVEL – Slow to muster speed and travelled wide for much of the race with no cover. Race 5: KATE DEANE PATRON APPRECIATION QTIS OPEN HANDICAP - 1200 metres FRENCH HUSSLER – Tightened between runners gaining a run approaching the 100m and laid in over the final stages. MEDIA VITA – Laid in down the home straight. MARBEL DUKE – Jockey J. Rudd was the replacement rider. BOINGO – Jumped outwards contacting another runner. BOLLENTE – Contacted at the start, resented the kickback from the 1000m to the 800m then taken wider at the top of the straight to gain clear running. SNIPPY STRATEGIC – Slow to begin and travelled wide in the early stages. ZENDAYE – Bounded out of the gates then awkward for several strides and taken wider on the track to avoid the dusty conditions. Race 6: LJC RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP – 1400 metres GOLDSAY – Inclined to lay in down the home straight. DRAGON IN THE NORTH – Awkward and slow to begin. THUNDER – Fractious in the gates. Trainer H. Forster was advised the gelding would need to undertake a satisfactory barrier trial prior to racing again. DO I HAVE TO – Slow to begin. NICCONI PASQUALE – Travelled wide for much of the race with cover. GRANVILLE ISLAND – Jockey B. Richardson was reprimanded regarding her use of the whip in the straight. LUBYOUFOREVER – Travelled wide for much of the race with no cover. Race 7: LJC OPEN HANDICAP – 1600 metres HEROISM – Eased back shortly after the start to take up a rear position. HUNTER ISLAND – Slow to begin. MISHNAH – Jockey D. Reward was reprimanded regarding his whip use. RHYOLA – Taken wider at the top of the straight to gain clear running.
