There was a delay to the start of the first race waiting for the veterinary surgeon to arrive on course.
 
Race 1: PRO TYRES MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres
 
DROGON – Contacted heavily at the start losing ground when MON TOUT jumped awkwardly.
 
SHERPA JACK – Contacted at the start as DROGON was dictated to by MON TOUT, hung in down the home straight proving difficult to ride out.
 
SHOW SOME HEART – Jumped outwards contacting an outside runner then travelled wide for much of the race.
 
TANTALISING MISS – Travelled wide in the early and middle stages.
 
MON TOUT – Jumped in sharply after the start making heavy contact with DROGON, hung out rounding the first turn. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed the filly to be lame in the left fore and trainer T. Austin was advised a veterinary clearance would be require prior to the filly racing again.
 
 
Race 2: PRO TYRES RATINGS BAND 0 – 60 HANDICAP - 1000 metres 
 
Upon returning to scale, it was noted TURKEY BEACH & ZENDAYE jumped from the incorrect barrier. After viewing the films, stewards were comfortably satisfied the incident had had no material bearing on the placings of either horse and correct weight was declared. At a subsequent inquiry, jockey R Hancock and apprentice jockey T. Townsend were both fined the sum of $200 each under AR 198(1).
 
TURKEY BEACH – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
BOUND TO ME – Travelled wide in the middle and late stages.
 
ANGELS OF FENWAY – Travelled wide in the early stages.
 
HUNTING – Travelled wide for much of the race.
 
 
Race 3: SHELL LONGREACH OPEN HANDICAP - 1000 metres  
 
FULLY MAXED – Jockey M. Gray was reprimanded for using the whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permissible under the rule.
 
BENCHI PEGASUS – Crowded at the start and slow to muster early speed.
 
KAKAKENNY – Trapped wide in the early and middle stages.
 
HAYYLER’S TARY – Apprentice D. McGillivray was permitted by stewards to claim only 1.5kg of his 2kg allowance on his mount.
 
 
Race 4: O’BRIENS GARAGE BM 50 HANDICAP – 1200 metres
 
DUCK IN DUBAI – Jumped outwards brushing SNIP’N’DRIFT. Travelled wide for much of the race and lay in down the home straight despite the efforts of the rider. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed no abnormalities.
 
MS WICKED NICCI – Slow to muster speed galloped onto heels shortly before the winning post and had to be eased.
 
CHILLI PRAWN – Slow to begin, travelled wide in the early stages and shied away from a runner at the top of the straight.
 
SNIP’N’DRIFT – Slow to begin and travelled wide for much of the race with no cover.
 
GOLDEN STREET -- Travelled wide in the early and middle stages.
 
HIDDEN CHIEF – Veered inwards shortly after the start despite the efforts of the rider.
 
 
Race 5: PRO TYRES OPEN HANDICAP - 1400 metres 
 
BOLLENTE – Travelled wide in the early stages.
 
HEROISM – Slow away and slow into stride.
 
MISHNAH – Jumped away awkwardly brushing SHOW ‘EM.
 
ARGENTO PERLO – Travelled wide in the middle stages.
 
MENACING – Stewards permitted D. McGillivray to claim 1.5kg of his 2 kg claim on his mount. Lay over in the gates prior to jumping. Apprentice D. McGillivray was addressed and advised by stewards regarding the shifting of ground shortly after the start. Apprentice D. McGillivray was reprimanded for using his whip seven times prior to the 100m, two more than permissible under the rule.
 
 
 
Race 6: PRO TYRES QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP – 1600 metres
 
DIAMOND ACCOUNT – Slow into stride and travelled wide in the early and middle stages with no cover.
 
DO I HAVE TO – Slow into stride.
 
GOLDSAY – Raced extremely keenly from the 1350m to the 1000m.
 
GREY FALCON – Slow into stride.
 
MR RESETTI – Travelled wide for much of the race.
 
HOT CHOCOLATE – Travelled wide in the early and middle stages with cover.
