Ballard There was a slight delay to the start of Race one while the photo finish equipment was being tested. Race 1: JOHN DOWNS CLASS B HANDICAP 1600 metres RUELAS – Reared prior to the gates opening. Slow into stride. SPALLINA – Travelled wide with cover in the early and middle stages. PORTABELLE – Awkward to begin. FLOWER – Slow into stride. JACK’S DREAM – Travelled wide in the middle and late stages of the event. NICKSY BOY – Obliged to shift wider at the 600m to gain clear running. HOT CHOCOLATE – Travelled wide in the early and middle stages with no cover. Race 2: DAVID LOWERY DIESEL REPAIRS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1100 metres GEOVANNI – Slow to begin and travelled wide for much of the race. KENDISSI – Inconvenienced rounding the first turn and took offence at outside runners moving forward. SENSE OF EXPENSE – Laid in over the concluding stages when placed under pressure. CASINO BOY – Slow into stride. MOMENT TO CONQUER – Fractious prior to the start, jumping away awkwardly and slow. Travelled wide for much of the race and taking the home turn much wider. SERRATALLI – Slow to begin. Race 3: GORDON ‘POPEYE’ SAUNDERS MEMORIAL BM 50 HANDICAP 1100 metres ALGEROBA – Jumped inwards contacting an inside runner. HARD ENOUGH – Rider Cheryl Rogers was reprimanded under AR132(5) for using her whip 16 times during the race, two more than permitted under the rule. ALL REIGN -- Over raced in the early stages being eased off heels. Jockey S Galvin stating the gelding took offence at the dusty track conditions and was awkward in stride until being taken wider to avoid the dust. SAME OLD STORY – Buffeted between runners on jumping. OUR SAY – Awkward to begin and travelled wide for much of the race. Race 4: BIRDCAGE SPRINT BM 70 HANDICAP 1100 metres ALFIARTO – Awkward for several strides shortly after the start. ARCHADE – Lay in over the concluding stages when placed under pressure. THE LAUNCHER – Travelled wide for much of the race. BETTER THAN GOLD – Jockey E. Bell stating her saddled had slipped at the 800m making the mare difficult to ride out. Race 5: COL ANDERSON MEMORIAL BM 55 HANDICAP 1300 metres HARVEST PRIDE – Late scratching at 12.00pm due to no rider being available. MUSIC AWARD – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. DARK ARCHER – Slow to begin and resented the kickback and was obliged to race wider to avoid it. SPARMAN – Travelled wide in the early stages and taken wider at the 900m to avoid the dusty track conditions. SO IMPRESSIVE – Slow to begin. LOLLIPOP ROCKET – Travelled wide in the early and middle stages. Race 6: OUTBACK RACING SHOWCASE HEAT XXXX GOLD CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1600 metres Rider Jason Missen was the replacement rider for MISHANI ISTANA due to jockey S Galvin being unable to make the allotted weight. Jockey S. Galvin was reprimanded and reminded of his obligation when accepting rides. Correct weight was delayed allowing the rider of JARHEAD, Emma Bell to view the available photo finish print. After reviewing E. Bell was comfortably satisfied with the judge’s placings and correct weight was confirmed. VAN WINKLE – Rider M. Gray was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, one more than permitted under the rule. FAIRY ME HOME – Slow into stride.
