Race 1: RINGROSE & BUTTON Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
ZOOMARATTA – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the final stages. Jockey Robert Faehr reported he dropped his whip upon jumping.
 
ZOROSSA – Laid in under pressure. Raced in restricted room for a short distance close to the finish when OUR YOUNG MAN shifted out and SHORT TAKES shifted inwards.
 
BEAN A BAD GIRL – Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m.
 
TIME FLYS BY – Fractious before the start.
 
HYPE WIRE – Began awkwardly. Slow into stride.
 
 
Race 2: THE BRANCH CAFÉ BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1280 metres
 
Due to the photo finish failing correct weight was delayed allowing stewards to be able to confirm the judges placing by viewing the available footage. Upon review of the footage stewards were satisfied with the judge’s placings and correct weight was declared.
Prior to the running of race 2 the photo finish equipment was tested and found to be operating correctly.
 
REAL HUSSEY – Began awkwardly.
 
LONDON BELL (NZ) – Jumped in the air at the start losing noticeable ground. Jockey Brooke Richardson pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to her mount on 12 occasions prior to the 100m (7 more than permitted. The riding license of Ms Richardson was suspended for 7 days to commence midnight,24th September 2022 and to conclude midnight 1st October 2022.
 
ROYAL CONFESSION – Raced wide throughout.
 
HIGHLAND EAGLE – Raced wide throughout. Laid in from the 600m.
 
ANDAMAN – Slow to begin.
 
BITTERSWEET PLUCK – Slow into stride. Laid in for the majority.
 
LOVE OVER GOLD – Fractious in the barriers. Raced wide throughout.
 
TIDAL FORCE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have jarred up.
 
GHETTO – Delayed the start when proving difficult to load. Fractious in the barriers. Slow to begin. Hung in and shifted ground inwards under pressure over the final 250m.
 
 
Race 3: NOVATEL BRISBANE AIRPORT BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1200 metres
 
FLAMING TORCH (NZ) – Hung in and raced ungenerously in the early stages. Near the 1100m shifted outwards carrying NITT WHITT and THE LANDING wider resulting in both runners being inconvenienced.
 
WIKI – Blundered on jumping.
 
ARCHADE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
ALLELUIA – Tired badly from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small trace of blood in the near side nostril and as such the gelding has been stood down until the completion of a satisfactory 1000m gallop in the presence of stewards.
 
PRIZED ARTIST – Laid in from the 700m when placed under pressure.
 
STROKE OF MAGIC – Tightened on jumping.
 
BUDDIE OLLIE – Began awkwardly. Inclined to hang out throughout placing the rider at some difficulty to ride out over the final stages.
 
THE LANDING – Inconvenienced and forced wider near the 1100m.
 
TYPHOON TALAYAH – Began awkwardly.
 
NITT WHITT – Inconvenienced and forced wider near the 1100m.
 
 
Race 4: FIGURE 8 FENCING QTIS CLASS 4 PLATE 1000 metres
 
EMPIRE PRINCESS – Due to no other available jockey, Luke Miller was permitted to ride the mare 1Kg overweight. Stood flat footed and the start losing considerable ground and took no competitive part. Trainer Darrel Dolgner was advised that the mare has been stood down until the completion of a satisfactory barrier trial. Jockey Luke Miller was advised of his obligations in relation to using the whip when clearly out of contention.
 
LET IT SIZZLE – Began awkwardly.

 
Race 5: GEOFF GREALY / RYAN SAVAGE / JENNY REED MEMORIAL OPEN Handicap 1000 metres
 
WALL STREET TYCOON – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure.
 
ZUCAZ – Fractious in the barriers. Bumped soon after the start.
 
HALCYON HOUSE – Began awkwardly bumping HALCYON HOUSE.
 
ZILITOR – Laid in under pressure.
 
KALMAR – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
ALGEROBA – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 6: TOPX LONGREACH BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1600 metres
 
VIKING RAID – Restrained off heels near the 650m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
DUBAI MOON – Slow to begin.
 
MUSTAFA – Tired badly over the final 600m to be beaten a significant distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer Mark Oates was advised that the gelding has been stood down from competing at Metropolitan and TAB meetings until a significant improvement of its form is displayed.
 
DO I HAVE TO – Laid in under pressure. Jockey Robert Faehr, who showed some signs of distress, was examined by the on-course ambulance officers after the race and was cleared of any significant illness or injury. Mr Faehr was cleared to continue riding.
 
ITSALLKAY – Began badly and missed the start by a noticeable distance. Raced wide throughout.
 
GONZO – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
FANDRAL – Raced wide throughout.
 
DO YOUR BEST – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
 
Race 7: SROUT AG LONGREACH CUP / COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP 1600 metres
 
NO INUENDO – Laid in under pressure over the final 150m.
 
GYPSY BIKER – Began awkwardly.
 
CARLIN TREND – Raced wide for the majority.
 
MURGANELLA – Jumped in the air at the start losing ground.
 
KICK IT BABY – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 8: OUTBACK INSURANCE BROKERS CLASS 6 PLATE 1300 metres
 
MUSIC AWARD – Began awkwardly.
 
BOTTOM LINE – Slow to begin.
 
CRAZY LAD – Raced wide throughout.
 
SMOOTH MOVE – Began awkwardly. Bumped on jumping losing ground. Held up for a clear run briefly rounding the home turn.
 
VAHASH – Declared a late scratching @ 5.47pm when the horse failed to load into the barriers. Stewards ordered that all monies invested in VAHASH be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
3 cents in the dollar for the win - #2
7 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #2
3 cents in the dollar for 2nd placegetter – #8
7 cents in the dollar for 3rd placegetter - #1
 
Trainer B. Waldron was advised VAHASH has been stood down from racing until completing a satisfactory barrier trial.
 
BARNEY’S BLAZE – Bumped on jumping.
 
KING CONI – Raced wide throughout.
 
SACRED STREAM (NZ) – Began awkwardly and was forced inwards by MUSIC AWARD.
