GENERAL
 
Trainer Darrel Dolgner pleaded guilty under the terms of LR43 when he permitted an unlicensed person to lead HYPE WIRE from his vehicle to the race day stalls and furthermore after being spoken to by stewards allowed the same unlicensed person to stretch the legs of HYPE WIRE when being saddled for race 3. Trainer Darrel Dolgner was fined the sum of $500.00.
 
 
Race 1: 50TH VIETNAM MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1000 metres
 
BOSTON BELLE – fractious prior to the start and was slow to begin.
 
SKOOZI’S FLYER – began awkwardly and lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
COUNTRY ROADS – was declared a late scratching at 1.25pm when refused to proceed to the barriers. Prior to correct weight deductions of less 10 cents for the win and less 13 cents place for the winner, less 13 cents for the second placing and 13c for the third placing were ordered. Connections were advised that COUNTRY ROADS is required to pass an official trial prior to next competing.
 
 
UZERLI – began awkwardly and bumped FANDRALL at the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
LUNA GLIDE – raced ungenerously in the middle stages and raced wide for the majority.
 
THERAPY – raced wide throughout.
 
FANDRAL – bumped by UZERLY shortly after the start.
 
 
Race 2: GUNFIRE BREAKFAST @ LONGREACH RSL OPEN HANDICAP 1100 metres
 
MONSIEUR MACRON (NZ) – began awkwardly.
 
KEDLESTON – slow into stride, raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed the gelding pulled up lame in the near hind foot. Trainer T. Schofield was advised that the gelding would require a veterinarian certificate prior to racing again.
 
AMERICAN GENIUS – Apprentice Tyler Leslight pleaded guilty to a charge under the terms of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 1 more than permitted. Jockey Leslight was fined the sum of $500.00. When determining an appropriate penalty stewards were mindful that this was the eleventh offence by apprentice Leslight in the last 6 months under this rule.
 
 
STRIKE POINT – began awkwardly.
 
BETTER THAN GOLD – over raced in the early stages and had to be restrained to avoid heels near the 700 metres and raced wide throughout.
 
FLASH FIBIAN – held up for clear running early in the home straight.
 
 
Race 3: GEORGE GORHAM MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 metres
 
HEZAGEM – hampered at the start by PURPLE SONG, raced wide throughout and lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
ZOROSSA – proved very difficult to load and reared in the barriers. Trainer Ray Hermann advised it was his intention to add blinkers to ZAROSSA.
 
HYPE WIRE – slow to begin and failed to show any speed throughout and failed to be competitive as a result. A warning was placed on the gelding due to being uncompetitive.
 
GOODY GOODY – began awkwardly and bumped PURPLE SONG at the start. Apprentice jockey Anna Bakos pleaded guilty to a charge under the terms of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 1 more than permitted. Jockey Bakos was fined the sum of $300.00. Appretice jockey Bakos was reminded that this was her sixth offence under this rule in the last 6 months.
 
 
PURPLE SONG – Jumps inward at the start and bumped with GOODY GOODY, held up for clear running between the 200m and 100m. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 4: COMMERATING ERNIE MCCULLAGH 100 YEARS CLASS 3 PLATE 1200 metres
 
BIGGER THAN THORN – began awkwardly, held up for clear running when entering the home straight.
 
FREDDIE EDDIE – began awkwardly and bounded in the air at the start, raced wide throughout.
 
MR CRUISE – bumped at the start by HIGHLAND EAGLE. Approaching the 800 metres was tightened for room when HIGHLAND EAGLE shifted in.
 
HIGHLAND EAGLE – jumped in at the start bumping MR CRUISE. Approaching the 800 metres shifted in and tightened MR CRUISE. Jockey Tim Brummell was issued with a reprimand under the terms of AR131(a) for shifting ground when not sufficiently clear to do so.
 
TYPHOON TALAYAH – failed to show any early speed.
 
 
Race 5: LONGREACH RSL DIGGERS CUP BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1400 metres
 
NO INUENDO – began awkwardly and shifted out across heels near the 900 metres.
 
ANCIENT ECHOES – began awkwardly and shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
COZHECANCAN – steady off the heels of GYPSY BIKER at the 800 metres.
 
GALAPAGOS – slow to begin.
 
GYPSY BIKER – raced wide throughout.
 
HELMET HEAD – raced wide throughout.
