Race 1: RAYNER’S CRANE HIRE Maiden Plate 1000 metres I AM JIMMY – Began awkwardly. Hung in under pressure over the concluding stages. I’M FREE – Shifted out under pressure from the 200m. Apprentice N Olzard was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for her use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. IMPENDING RAIN – Slow into stride. Jockey R Faehr was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. CUDDLE RUG – Slow into stride. Trailed the field and raced greenly. DEN END – Raced green and shifted out abruptly near the 50m. TAORMINA MATCH – Fractious in the barrier prior to the start. Began awkwardly and hung in down the home straight. BUCKLEYS – Raced wide throughout. COCO ROYALE – It was noted that the saddle had slipped during the run. Race 2: HARRY’S RESTAURANT BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1000 metres GAZZMAN – Threw its head in the air at the start and as a result began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. HARALBEN – Shifted out noticeably under pressure near the 200m. FLASH FIBIAN – Hung in under pressure throughout the home straight. REALLY REALLY GOOD – Slow into stride. BOSTON BELLE – Slow to begin. Race 3: 4LG+WEST FM QTIS Class 1 Handicap 1200 metres KAZZA’S JET – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. HOT ROD JACK – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ZOROSSA – Reared in the barriers prior to start. MR DEMOLITION – Raced ungenerously for some distance near the 1000m then continued to hang in badly before trailing the field there after. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. The connections were advised that the gelding has been stood down until completion of a satisfactory trial. VITAL VALENTIA – Raced wide throughout. OUTBACK STEP – Leaving the 600m improved upon onto the heels of ZOROSSA and had to be steadied. Race 4: LONGREACH TYRE CENTRE – HORSE OF THE YEAR QTIS Class 1 Handicap 1200 metres HIGHLAND EAGLE – Raced wide throughout then hung in under pressure in the home straight. COOL HARRY – Raced wide throughout. ELECTRIC SPIRIT – inclined to lay in over the final 300m. Rider B Newport advised his mount resented the kick back in the early stages as a result was shuffled back in the field. SUPER MIST – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running early in the home straight. LUNA GLIDE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Race 5: COOLA CARPET & FURNITURE BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1400 metres FREDDIE EDDIE – Apprentice N Olzard reported that her mount struggled to perform over today’s race distance. The stewards noted FREEDIE EDDIE’s previous performances over similar distances confirmed the view of the rider. JERRY ZANDA – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the remainder 300m. NO STRINGS – Rider S Robbins advised the gelding failed to stretch out fully. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. The connections of NO STRINGS have advised that they intend to consider the racing future of the gelding. LASCO – Slow to begin. THERAPY – Very slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Race 6: ARTHUR & BERYL MOODY MEMORIAL OPEN Handicap 1400 metres SMOOTH MOVE – Laid in under pressure near the 150m. BURDEN – Lost touch with the main body of the field in the middle stages. CAFFREY (IRE) – Began awkwardly and was impeded shortly after the start. Held up for clear running in the home straight. GYPSY BIKER – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MUSIC AWARD – Jumped outwards at the start impeding CAFFREY (IRE). HELMET HEAD – Impeded shortly after the start. THINK HIGH – Struck a post while leaving the mounting yard. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
