McCrackenGENERALAs apprentice jockey D Graham was unable to ride at today’s meeting due to illness, the following replacement rider was permitted:Race 5: Deep Breath – T BrummellStewards approved the following overweight.Race 4. J Baker +1kgDue to a minor malfunction of barrier 4 in race 5 subsequence of the meeting the barriers were fully tested and found to be in suitable working order for further race meetings.Race 1: WELLSHOT HOTEL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000m ISHOTTHEDEPUTY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers due to small traces of blood in the mouth, was cleared to start. Slow to begin and tailed off for the remainder of the race. When questioned on the gelding’s disappointing performance, jockey J Missen stated that after the slow start the gelding resented the kickback, then entering the course proper KARARA LAD which was racing ahead made heavy contact with the inside running rail which then caused his mount to momentarily shy. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.SHADOWAY DRIVE – Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.KARARA LAD – Began awkwardly, made heavy contact with the inside running rail entering the course proper. Shifted wider at the 500m to obtain clearer running room. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. CLOGS – Bumped on jumping, as a result was slow into stride.RED ZORRO – Raced wide throughout.VALIANT JOAN – Shifted in on jumping bumping CLOGS.Race 2: LONGREACH RSL MAIDEN PLATE 1100m COLONEL VON TRAPP – Raced wide early and middles stages. On returning to scale, jockey J Baker expressed concerns that the gelding’s action felt awkward. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. DACXI BUBBLES – Raced wide throughout.TRANSITION – Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure over the last 100m.Race 3: BIRDCAGE HOTEL BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1200mBEST SIDE - Restrained shortly after the start to obtain a rearward position closer to the rails.LE BERNADIN – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.VALONIA – Slow to begin.THE LANDING – Raced wide throughout.Race 4: LONGREACH TAVERN RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP 1200m MOPAR – Shifted in on jumping bumping SPURCIFIC JOURNEY. Jockey S McGovern was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 6 occasions, 1 more than permitted prior to the 100m.HERE HE LOOMS – Raced wide throughout.IMPACTFUL – Slow to begin.WORLD CHARMER - Laid in under pressure for the majority of the home straight.SPURCIFIC JOURNEY – Bumped on jumping, as a result shifted in making contact with the heels of THANKS BRUCE.SIZZLESUN – Slow into stride.Race 5: BUNDABERG RUM PUBLICAN'S CUP OPEN PLATE 1300m NO INDUENDO – Fractious prior to start, slow to begin. After viewing the replays, it was determined NO INDUENDO’S barrier was marginally slow to open however due to the gelding finishing in fourth position no further action was required under the provisions of AR204(C). TERRIUS – Shifted out on jumping making heavy contact with BARRICHELLO.BARRICHELLO – Bumped heavily on jumping. HEYINGTON STATION – Bounded in air on jumping. Raced wide throughout. THINK HIGH – Race wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.Race 6: COMMERCIAL HOTEL QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE 1400m Due to the malfunction of barrier 4 in the previous race, this was not utilised in this event.HEART OF MARBLE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after the gelding paraded with an awkward action and was cleared to start. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed stiffness in the hip and hock areas.Trainer K Krough was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Mr Krough advised stewards that it was his intention to retire the gelding. WOLF POINT – Raced in restricted room approaching the 900m. Jockey J Baker stated that in his opinion the gelding didn’t travel well on the harder track. ROGER EXPRESS(NZ) – Approaching the 250m momentarily hampered ILFRACOMBE KID when laying in under pressure. ILFRACOMBE KID – Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 250m when ROGER EXPRESS laid in under pressure.ANGEL GRACE – Raced wide for the majority.
