QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT LONGREACH JOCKEY CLUB SATURDAY 27TH APRIL 2024 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chair of Stewards – S. CoulthardStewards – K. McCracken Race 1: BEERSHEBA BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000MVAIN FOX – Raced wide throughout. JUKEBOX LUCY – Jumped awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. KING DICK – Raced wide throughout. BADGE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. CLOGS – Slow to begin. Race 2:TERRY MARSDEN MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400M LASTING PROMISE – Shifted out on jumping hampering BITTERSWEET PLUCK. TERRIUS – Slow to begin. BITTERSWEET PLUCK – Hampered on jumping when LASTING PROMISE shifted out, as a result was slow to begin. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. FREDDIE EDDIE – Raced wide throughout. ROGER EXPRESS – Raced wide throughout. When questioned, jockey M Gray reported the gelding felt flat throughout and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 3: LONGREACH RSL WELCOMES RIDE WEST QTIS BENCHMARK 45 1400M LE BERNADIN – On returning to scale, jockey J Missen reported that after starting well the gelding seemed to resent the kick back and lost ground, however he was happy with how the gelding finished over the concluding stages. HOT CHOCOLATE – Slow to begin, trailed the field throughout. Jockey T Brummell reported that the gelding wanted to hang for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. SIZZLESUN – Raced wide throughout. CORALEE – Stood flat footed. Trainer’s representative, J Esser was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare. Race 4 DUCK WILKIE MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 2YO & UP 1200M Start of race was delayed due to BRONZE BENZER being difficult to load. BOOK OF EXODUS – Raced wide throughout. BRONZE BENDER – Slow to begin, raced wide throughout. Trainer, R Little was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding. IMPENDING RAIN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. POMPEY’S VALOUR – Raced wide throughout. ENERGIZED – Slow into stride. Raced keenly in the early stages. ARGONTIL – Knuckled on jumping, as a result was slow away. Raced wide throughout. Race 5:LONGREACH RSL DIGGERS CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1200M Start of race was delayed when THE SQUIRE refused to load. THE SQUIRE was declared a late scratching at 4pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on THE SQUIRE were ordered to be refunded in full with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 4:00pm: LIEUTENANT: 37c Win & 23c PlaceHEYINGTON STATION: 23c Place DEEP BREATH: 23c Place Leniency was extended in relation to issuing a warning on THE SQUIRE on the basis that information on assisting the loading process of the horse was not relayed to the starter therefore no action was taken. STRIKE POINT – Jumped awkwardly. DAWN TOO GOOD – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. NEW YORK WORLD – Raced wide throughout. WORLD CHARMER – Late scratching at 12.30pm due to no available rider.
