GENERAL
Today’s race meeting was transferred from Saturday 22/03/25 until today, due to unsuitable track conditions as a result of rain received in Longreach over the past three days.
The following horses were scratched from today’s meeting due to no riders being available:
Race 4: MINTO'S POWER
Race 4: SHARPAY RULER
Race 4: EUPHRATES DREAM
Race 1: BIRDCAGE HOTEL / LONGREACH RSL MAIDEN PLATE 1000 Metres.
COOL MAN SHOW – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure momentarily passing the 200m.
FIELD OF MARS – Approaching the 200m, raced in restricted room between COOL MAN SHOW and FIVELEAFCLOVER before commencing to lay in under pressure, despite the efforts of its rider and inconvenienced FIVELEAFCLOVER which was taken in and lost ground. Continued to lay in over the concluding stages and went to the line without being fully tested. Trainer G Bignell was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings’ racing manners.
FULL OF EURO – Began awkwardly
FIVELEAFCLOVER – Slow to begin and lost ground. Passing the 200m, was in inconvenienced and lost ground when FIELD OF MARS laid in under pressure.
HENNY PENNY – Jumped outwards at the start and shifted wider on the track. Raced wide for the majority of the event
NAORO – Fractious in the barriers before the start was affected and as a result was slow to begin and lost ground.
Race 2: COMMERCIAL HOTEL LONGREACH CLASS B HANDICAP 1000 Metres
The start of this race was delayed 45 minutes, allowing on course QAS officers to treat Apprentice J Devine who was dislodged from her mount enroute to the barriers and to await the arrival of a second ambulance.
ABOUT RIGHT – Shifted in shortly after the start and inconvenienced READY TO GROOVE.
BURDEKIN BOY – Hampered and taken in shortly after the start when READY TO GROOVE was taken in by ABOUT RIGHT which shifted in.
HAMISO – Enroute to the barriers for this event, HAMISO took charge of its rider, Apprentice J Devine and completed a full lap of the track before Apprentice Devine was dislodged at the top of the straight. Apprentice Devine was treated by on course QAS officers and was cleared of any signs of concussion. Apprentice Devine was transported to Longreach Hospital for further assessment of pain being reported in the hip region and has been advised that she will need to provide a medical clearance before resuming. Trainer Mr R. Little was advised that HAMISO would have a warning placed against his pre-race manners. Mr Little was further advised that the gelding would be required to be ridden by a senior rider and to be led to the barriers by the Clerk of the course in future starts. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on HAMISO be refunded with the following deductions to successful bets apply: 9 cents the win and 10 cents the place.
READY TO GROOVE – Inconvenienced shortly after the start when ABOUT RIGHT shifted in, resulting in READY TO GROOVE hampering BURDEKIN BOY. Shifted wider on the track passing the 400m. Taken wider entering the home straight when HEDON'TWANTME shifted out slightly. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
WINDORAH – Apprentice M Mankelow accidently lost her whip passing the 200m.
HEDON'TWANTME – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Shifted out slightly rounding the home turn taking READY TO GROOVE wider on the track. Jockey A Bakos-Schrapel reported that her saddle slipped on jumping placing her at a disadvantage and she further added that in her opinion the mare would benefit from races over more distance.
Race 3: WELLSHOT HOTEL QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
Due to the delay in the start of Rase 2, The start of this race was rescheduled to 12.15pm.
SEPARATIST – Raced wide throughout.
YEMEAN – Inclined to lay in down the home straight.
SHOALWATER BAY – Slow to begin.
BOATING – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
ENERGIZED – Slow to begin.
WOLF POINT – Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.
Race 4: LONGREACH TAVERN BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
Due to the delay in the start of Rase 2, The start of this race was rescheduled to 12.45pm.
EUPHRATES DREAM – Declared a late scratching at 12.18pm when no other rider was available to replace Apprentice J Devine, who was injured before Race 2.
FLOP TURN RIVER – Apprentice C Stuart was declared a late rider replacement for FLOP TURN RIVER. Stewards accepted the reasons presented by Trainer G Rafter for the late notification of the rider.
BAILE FERVOR – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
MINTO'S POWER – Declared a scratching at 7.27am when no rider was available to ride the gelding.
PALAZZO SPIRIT – Began awkwardly and shifted in shortly after the start.
ISHOTTHEDEPUTY – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
SHARPAY RULER – Declared a late scratching at 8.10am when no rider was available to ride the gelding.
Race 5: BUNDABERG RUM PUBLICAN'S CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1200 Metres
Due to the delay in the start of Rase 2, The start of this race was rescheduled to 1.15pm.
HURTLE – Slow to begin. Jockey M Mankelow reported that HURTLE was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
WARRAH FLASH – Slow to begin.
GOLDEELUCK – With a shortage of riders at today’s meeting and the geldings allocated rider Apprentice J Devine being injured in Race 2, Stewards acceded to a request from Trainer D Rewald for Jockey S Galvin to ride the gelding 2kg over the allotted weight. Slow to begin.
VICTORY BAY (NZ) – Shifted out after jumping.
MUSIC AWARD – Began awkwardly.
