SCANDEMIC – After further examinations after competing at the above meeting trainers T & P Rowe confirmed the gelding has now been retired from racing.

General:

As SIR ROLAND (Race 1) and COOL ATTITUDE (Race 5) had not competed for an extended period of time, both underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to start.

Race 1: PATRON BILL WARE QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000 METRES

Trainer A. Malliff was questioned into the reason DYSTOPIAN was scratched from the event after acceptance time without a jockey being engaged. Mr Malliff explained the gelding had had not pleased him in its trackwork and had not eaten up to his satisfaction on Thursday and Friday and as such had elected to scratch it from today’s event. His explanation was noted.

CLASSIC CHANCE – Slow to begin.

MINI BEER – Trainer A. Malliff advised stewards he had misplaced a piece of gear being a Hanoverian Noseband which was advertised as part of the filly’s gear for the first time today and was unable to source a replacement piece of gear. Mr Malliff was permitted to race the filly without that gear however was reminded of his obligation to have all advertised gear readily available. Laid out rounding the home turn allowing CODY’S BOY to improve to its inside.

Race 2: SPONSORS RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP – 1000 METRES

SIR ROLAND – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered for the late declaration of N. Yadi as the rider of the gelding. Slow to begin.

HERIOC ANGEL – Slow to begin. Shied returning to scale and dislodged jockey M. Abe. Jockey Abe was examined by the QAS officers and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.

DELUSIONAL – Slow to begin. Blundered and fell dislodging jockey Ngarie Nelson who was quickly attended to by QAS officers and was transported to Laura Medical Clinic for further observation after complaining of soreness in the neck area. Riding replacements were made as per steward’s summary. Trainer M. Potiris was advised she must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to its next race start or trial. At a subsequent inquiry where evidence was obtained from all relevant parties and the available patrol footage was viewed it was established that after being slow to begin DELUSIONAL was ridden forward in an attempt to improve its position when general crowding occurred resulting in the mare blundering and falling, dislodging jockey Nelson. As stewards where unable to attribute responsibility to any individual rider this was recorded as an unfortunate racing incident.

SOLOMON – Shifted wider rounding the home turn.

Race 3: LAURA 10,000 CLASS 3 PLATE – 1000 METRES

Due to the incident in race 2, Race 3 was rescheduled to start at 2.50pm and Race 4 to start
