Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards considered an objection lodged by the connections of second placegetter IZZY’S KEEPER (App A Thomson) against DRAGON ROCKET (M Kai) being declared the winner on the grounds of interference in the home straight. After hearing evidence from the involved parties and viewing all available race footage Stewards, although conceding that DRAGON ROCKET had shifted out across the running of IZZY’S KEEPER momentarily impeding that horse’s momentum, dismissed the protest, as in their opinion any ground lost by IZZY’S KEEPER in the incident was not in excess of the 3 lengths margin which separated the 2 horses at the winning post..

EASY WEEKEND - After becoming extremely fractious in the barriers was withdrawn on veterinary advice at 3.57pm. Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on EASY WEEKEND be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the event prior to scratching time be subject to deductions of 14c in the dollar win and 13c in the dollar place. Trainer Mr B Williams was advised that the gelding would be required to perform one satisfactory barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again.

DRAGON ROCKET – Shifted out near the 150m momentarily hampering another runner. Jockey M Kai advised Stewards that at this point of the race he had dropped his near side rein which placed him at a disadvantage nonetheless stewards advised Jockey Kai to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

WILL HE TORQUE – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.

Race 5: Pat Williams Memorial MM/FNQ Up & Coming Stayers Benchmark 55 Handicap 1680m:
